Suarez neymarring himself throughout the game.

edit.

I expected a lot more from Portugal. Unpleasantly surprised by this.

Messi and CR7 eliminated... In eighth finals :eek:. I thought Germany being out in group phase was enough!

3 shots, 2 goals. Great defense.

Portugal made 2 mistakes and doesn't have a decent nr9. Missing a few opportunities didn't help.

All in all I'm not very surprised but I think Portugal deserved at least a draw.

PS: the pitch was really bad, I don't know how many times players fell trying to jump, change direction or stop. :/ It's the worse pitch in the WC and no one should play there after this game.

Brilliant performance from Uruguay - they are formidable opponents, and hopefully Cavani is not injured - both of his goals were superb, and Suarez looks on fine form, despite the histrionics. The game was played in a much better spirit than I was expecting - I thought there would be bookings and nasty challenges all over the shop, but there wasn't. Portugal certainly had their chances, but there just wasn't enough to get past a dogged Uruguayan defence. Uruguay could teach several teams in the tournament a lesson on how to play tournament football - anyone giving less than 100% against them will surely get whipped.

Stop taking everything against him or anything remotely related to Portugal so serious, it's getting old real fast.

Your posts are the ones getting old and boring:

The man's ego is so inflated that as soon as he's on the internet, he'll be touching himself to this image.

I'll point it out to you either you like it or not. Now keep bringing your hate.

Your nationalism intervenes with your logical thinking. Look a bit further back and see me posting something positive about Portugal and Ronaldo.

Now it's nationalism? Do you even know what that word means? Read what I've wrote about the Portuguese team and their players.

Just read that neither Messi or Ronaldo have scored at the knockout phase of any World Cup they've competed in. Pretty crazy when you think about it.

And Emile Heskey has...so that makes him the GOAT, no?
Definitely. No contest. :D

Messi and Ronaldo have been as useful as any Scottish player when it comes to the knockout rounds of the World Cup in recent times.!

Missed both games because of work, seen highlights, France-Argentina was amazing, game of the tournament thus far, a career defining game for Mbappe.

Portugal-Uruguay didn't seem to be as exciting as the first game, fantastic performance by Uruguay though, Ronaldo seemed very subdued.

Well that game was nerve wrecking. I hate when a team wastes time every goal kick, every throw in, every free kick. Out of the last 45 minutes, 35 were played, given that every time the game was stopped, they would take atleast 30 seconds to start playing.

And while there's a lot of people bashing Messi and Ronaldo, people forget that yesterday was most likely the last World Cup for the two biggest players of this generation, and two of the best players ever to play the sport, no matter which one you prefer. The WC lost a lot yesterday, just because both teams were unlucky to get in the hard side of the draw while weaker teams will go much farther due to an easier path.
Now 4 years till the next World Cup, hopefully both of them still play at high level by that time, so they can atleast be part of the team as a late game replacement just like many other great players .
