This World Cup has become something of an out of body experience for me. I mean, I'm guaranteed one of my home nations in the World Cup final. Absolutely astounding.

19.64 million viewers at its peak for the England game yesterday, not quite as big as 23.6 million but not bad for a boiling Saturday afternoon!

I have no idea how they can register the people watching in pubs and bars, or if they can register them.

All white kit confirmed for England. I hope the game isn't too nerve racking to watch. Depending on who gets the better start I think it will be a close call. :ill:

With the Semi-Finals next, it's getting close to the awards at the end of the tournament. Who do we think is in the running for/deserves/will win these awards?

Golden Boot (Most goals scored)

Golden Ball (Best player)

Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper)

Best Young Player

FIFA Fair Play Trophy

Team of the Tournament/Dream team (Best XI of the tournament)

Perhaps I should point out that Team of the Tournament is the best XI of the tournament
In that case,

ST - Kane
ST - Kane
ST - Kane
MID - Kane
MID - Kane
MID - Kane
DEF - Kane
DEF - Kane
DEF - Kane
DEF - Kane
GK - Kane

But in all seriousness, Sir Jordan Pickford has been the best goalkeeper. Maguire deserves to be in the best XI (he also has the same nose as Kane so he gets bonus points) as does Trippier.

In other news, Three Lions is on course to be Number 1 in the UK charts this week. It's leading the charge by 30% over its nearest challenger at the midway point of the week.

And if you're interested, as of typing, it's currently at #24 in the charts.

(Ironic that someone who literally couldn't give three lions went and looked that up...)

Meanwhile, I hope every idiot who was involved in the criminal damage of property in England on Saturday, including a paramedics ambulance, get what is coming to them.

Seriously though, how utterly demented do you have to be to smash up an ambulance while hundreds of people are videoing you and posting your face all over social media?

Golden Boot (Most goals scored)
Kane probably

Golden Ball (Best player)
Modric if he continues as he is

Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper)
Probably whoever wins the WC

Best Young Player
Depends on whoever wins the WC but I'd bet on Mbappé

FIFA Fair Play Trophy
No idea

Team of the Tournament
Depends on who wins the WC

I really don't want Belgium to win. I'd like a France-Croatia finale, even France-England would be alright as long as the Fronch win.

I don't want Belgium to win, because I tipped them four years ago (and for Euro 2016), citing Belgian players in the Premier League, playing with each other week-in, week-out, as a reason for both that and England's decline.

Also because it's not a real country.

My main reason to dislike Belgium is that the journalists are overrating them very hard. I just love when know-it-all journos get their crap pushed in. There is a Spanish Twitter account called @PabloSobrado7 that is mostly based around remembering journos being insanely wrong. Here are some examples from stuff he has found the past 7 days:
· A week ago, after the release of phone conversations where Sandro Rosell (former president of FC Barcelona) admits to have bought a liver for Eric Abidal = The most important thing is that Eric Abidal's life was saved.
· Jan.2017 = Hierro (manager for Spain during the World Cup) said "Outside of the 3 goals we scored we played quite well".
· Oct.2013 = If Luis Suarez comes in January to Real Madrid it would be the perfect way to fill Xabi Alonso's spot.
· Jun.2013 = Isco (Real Madrid player) said "I am quite anti-Real, I have never liked them".
· Feb.2013 = Vaclik is miles better than Ter Stegen.
· Aug.2012 = Tite (current manager for Brazil) said "Neymar is bad example for football and my son".
· 2011 = I would never trade Miguel de las Cuevas for Luka Modric.
· Aug.2007 = Neymar, a 15-year-old Brazilian, about to sign for Real Madrid.
