This window dent was noticed by many, including Dale Earnhardt, Jr. It's an advantage and it passed post race tech. Imitation will be the sincerest form of flattery.

Yeah, I was thinking that NASCAR needs to hand out a penalty just to draw a line in the sand even if it didn't really help aerodynamically. If not, it's basically in invitation for other teams to try similar things and if NASCAR came down on them for it it would be kind of unfair.

The window was part of it, but ot also mentions that a portion of the car that was to be made of aluminum, was not made of aluminium.

I think that's the point of the penalty; the window brace was a parts failure.

They must have added that to the article after I read it because it was pretty vague when I first read it. I knew something fishy was going on.

So Matt DiBenedetto and GoFas Racing don't have sponsorship for this weekend race at ISM Raceway. Matt posted a tweet about it on twitter, asking fans if they could help out. Then Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, and Darrel Waltrip (Probably more but this is all I've seen on my twitter feed so far) went and donated $5000 each to help him and his team out. Pretty cool.

Update:

With the racing at Phoenix, I thought the changes planned for it came about. Well, there is a graphic on the walls saying something like "Nov. 2018 - the line moves here." This in relation to the Start/Finish line being moved to around Turn 2 of Phoenix.

Enjoy the racing this weekend at Phoenix! Or should I say... ISM Speedway.

The consensus seems to be that the penalty would not have happened without social media. Elliot and some other insiders saw it, and wanted to copy it, not complain about about it!

There is a surprise. Elliott wanted to copy it. When you have no talent, just cheat. Served his father well in the era where you only had to beat 6 competitive cars.

Also: it rained this morning, (and yesterday) so competition caution will be at lap 35 I believe.

Leaving the track now, thought it was a decent race. Good battles up and down the field and clean racing for the most part.
Good job to Harvick for the win. Definitely deserved it.

From what I was able to see, it was a pretty good race. Congrats to Harvick.

I'm not sure he can make it 4 in a row, but we'll see.

It was a good race. I hate Harvick but everyone knows he has Phoenix in the bag. If it were a different track probably not. I usually get free tickets to the Auto Club Speedway but not this year so not going.

Finally watched the race on my DVR. Another snooze fest. I did come to realize something astounding. You may get pickles, but you will never get wings.

Huge news to hear. They will find a sponsor for that team, but it's pretty telling that Jimmie Johnson of all people is a guy looking for a sponsor now.

Lowe's and Hendrick motorsports to split following 2018 season.

Talk about a downer ending...and the season's only a few races in!
Real talk: I atleast thought they had a deal until Johnson retires. It definitely doesn't look good for HMS and NASCAR

I don’t think Lowe’s leaving makes anyone look bad. Sponsors come and go even if the sport is at its peak.

Now if they can’t find a replacement than it will make things look bad.

It looks somewhat bad because it's such a long time Sponsor that's been in the sport for nearly 2 decades. With all the Sponsors at HMS I'm sure the 48 will have something on it, but when major sponsors leave, you have to wonder if it's due to the current climate or something else.

The decline of NASCAR is a complex, multifaceted story. Humpy Wheeler has a series of thoughtful YouTube videos which well explains it.
