lol the Denny/Bubba confrontation was not even about actions on the track it was the digs Wallace took at Hamlin. You can't just say whatever you want and expect consequence free action from the other party. If you haven't learned that yet, you will.

Maybe Denny shouldn't have made the dumb claim accusing the majority of the field taking Adderall without a prescription in the first place then.

I have to say, I might be going against the green here, but I thought this year’s Daytona 500 was fantastic. While I would’ve liked a close race for the win, I’d be lying if I wasn’t speechless after Dillon turned Almirola.

I also think Denny might have some sense when it comes to him being angry at Bubba. The way I see it, there’s a lot of guys simply putting blame on Denny just because Bubba is NASCAR’s golden boy right now and Denny has been the scapegoat ever since the tangle with Elliott. Don’t get me wrong I love Bubba, but I think his adderall comments were unnecessary. Bubba hit Denny first, and I think it’s fine to scrape every position possible at the biggest race of the year, but Denny’s tire legitimately blew and there are those who are simply blaming Denny’s actions as if he had any control.

I also have to say but while I’m a fan of Bubba, I’m getting kinda tired of the media pushing him at every angle as “the next best thing.”

I'm not debating that, dude. I don't even care about the comments just don't expect the other party to not get pissed when you take digs at them in front of a national audience.

According to an E-Mail notice I got, ratings for the 2018 Daytona 500 were down compared to last year. I don't care much about ratings, but I do think it was a very good race. All congratulations to Austin Dillon on his win, but I was most impressed with Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. I actually think Bubba Wallace can actually be a Cup champion. I always liked Bubba Wallace. Heck, even multiple-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton endorsed Bubba Wallace in a Tweet!

One race in the books, a LONG grind is still in order. So bring on Atlanta (or "Hotlanta")!

Bubba had some good fill-in work last season in the 43. He looked very comfortable in the draft at Daytona, But, I'm going to need to see a lot more than a single great finish at Daytona to move into "Future Cup Champion" territory. To be fair, over half of the best cars in the field were destroyed long before the end of the race.

Well, Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. certainly has potential. Of course, potential gets you only so far. We all know Daytona and Talladega are wild card tracks. Not to say Bubba doesn't stand a chance, but I think he is great talent that may one day be a Champion.

I mostly saw the 2018 Daytona 500 from about maybe 15 laps to go in Stage 1. I thought it was rather foolish to race too hard like Stage 1 was the end of the race or something. One thing I still never wondered is why NASCAR simply doesn't run stages like they are heats. Why not truncate the stages like three separate races? They shouldn't do that for all races (such as major races like the Daytona 500), but I don't see why they can't make it like three separate races instead of three individual stages. Purists would want to do away with the stage format; and bigger purists would want to do away with both stages and the Chase and just go back to a more traditional racing model.

Finally, those new Camaro Gen-6 stock cars look pretty sweet! If I had to choose "best-in-show" for any stock car at the 2018 Daytona 500, my vote is on that beautiful No. 43 Click n' Close Mortgages Camaro. It's in a beautiful combination of purple and blue with some white thrown in. It is an absolutely beautiful car.

Musings over. Thanks for reading!

Exactly.

Kevin Harvick said drivers are mad at Denny Hamlin for jokingly stating on a podcast that 70 percent of them take Adderall.

The comment has created a firestorm for Hamlin, who later recanted what he said on the Barstool Sports podcast. Daytona 500 runner-up Darrell Wallace Jr., involved in an incident with Hamlin after the checkered flag, told Fox that Hamlin “might need to take some Adderall for that one.’’

After the race, Hamlin and Wallace had a heated exchange in the garage that was captured by a fan and posted on social media.

“He was upset with me over the comments I made about something he was joking about, which shouldn’t have been joked about,’’ Wallace told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday morning.

Harvick said Tuesday night on his SiriusXM show “Happy Hours” that Hamlin has caused an uproar in the garage.

“Those 70 percent of drivers he referred to are mad because of the fact that you’re the guy sitting in the trailer doing the drug testing 10 or 12 times a year from a random standpoint and understanding the things you can and can’t do,’’ Harvick said. “Whether he thinks it was an off-the-cuff comment and something he meant to say or not to say, it still offended most everybody in the garage.

“If you’re going to play around, joking and think it’s not something that everybody is going to take offense to … I think he’s probably seeing that nobody really appreciated it and it put everybody in a bad spot.’’

Harvick said Hamlin’s comment “made him seem kind of out of touch with everything that is going on in the sport. Not a very cool comment.’’

Hamlin went on Twitter on Tuesday night defend himself, saying the last-lap contact with Wallace happened because Wallace cut his right front tire and it sent Hamlin’s car into Wallace’s car. Hamlin also stated he did not like Wallace making personal comments about him in regard to the Adderall line.

Harvick said on his SiriusXM show that Hamlin should be quiet.

“Obviously Denny has got himself into a few spots in the past little bit,’’ Harvick said. “We don’t even need to go much further than that. You can look back at Martinsvilleand look at the couple of instances he had during Speedweeks.

“Sometimes it’s better not to go on rants on Twitter and defend yourself, and sometimes you just need to quit talking and this is definitely, probably one of those instances. I would call it an edgy interview source where all this came from. Sometimes you’ve got to keep your mouth shut.’’

Harvick becoming an advocate for not running your mouth is laughable in itself. Racing is emotional. People say things they don't mean it's just part of being a human. Denny shouldn't have said it and Bubba shouldn't have either but a minor scuffle is no big deal and to be expected. It's not a right or wrong argument.

I agree with the emotion coming out immediately after the race, or especially after a wreck. But... Denny stuck his foot squarely into his mouth on a mid-week podcast, where he had more than enough time to measure his words and evaluate their potential impact and fallout. Even if the show he was on was known for being silly, he picked a very strange topic (an overwhelming majority of the drivers potentially abusing prescription medication) to joke about.

I know what he said I just think the whole confrontation is being blown out of proportion. I'm not defending Denny's comments but I saying he had the same right to be mad at Bubba the same as 70% of competitors in NASCAR who were offended by the comments. NASCAR and fans love the drama though so this is getting blown way out of proportion but people are talking about it so it's good for business.

So, BK Racing's Charter is being claimed by a bank in bankruptcy hearings. Did no one in the RTA or NASCAR have a plan in place to prevent this kind of thing? I know that any other sports franchise going bust is a black eye to any league, but to have a bank take over is something I can't fully grasp how it would go over.

Why would anyone care if they were excluded from any Hamlin league? I still feel bad for Wallace as he is a nice young man with a great heart who will be used by NASCAR for all of the wrong reasons.

At least there will be no complaining from fans after this one about him winning the race.

Nah, haters will tear him apart now, then go back to complaining when he gets his next win.

Have to admit, it was funny when it happened. I wouldn't want to be marred back in traffic on the last restart because I had to wait on tires. He had a good idea with sticking with two, as it probably would have been the only way to stay in contention after KBM's pit issues tonight. Rear changer was on the ball, though; maybe a bit too much.

Hats off to Gragson for fighting back to 2nd.

Important update on the race tomorrow.

It should always start that early, rain or not. All the day races. Half of the them start stupid late now.
Which race last year started in the morning (11 AM?) due to a washout and they wanted to get it in? I could have sworn one race had that happen.

I don't remember. I've posted on here on more than one occasion about my dismay of the late starting times. I miss the days they used to start them all around 1 EST, 2 if it was Texas or the plains, and 3 out west. And if there was the threat of rain, they'd move up the start time (I'm actually surprised they did it for this one, even announcing it two days beforehand). Hell, I remember going to the Brickyard where it would start at 12.

My biggest complaint from last weekend, green flag was after 3:00pm local time. Last Sunday was a very long day for us, especially when we had to get up early to catch a flight on Monday.
