2018 Verizon IndyCar SeriesOpen Wheel

I figured the race would be postponed. And I'm sure Dennisch means 11:30 AM ET. Just be sure. I doubt they'll run a Monday night race that late.

Is there a reason Indycar doesn't let drivers get out of their cars during a red? I imagine it would be uncomfortable sitting in a race car seat for such a long time doing nothing, even more so if needing to take a leak. These aren't comfy Cadillac cushioned seats. NASCAR doesn't care if drivers get out when a red flag is displayed.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

Newgarden certainly put on a clinic today. It would have been interesting to see if Bourdais could have given him a run for his money if it hadn't rained and changed his strategy.

If they had done 7 minutes more under SC on Sunday, Bourdais would have won. If he didn't stay out a lap too long, he'd probably get 2nd/3rd. If it was dry, I think it would be close between Bourdais and Newgarden.

On the indycar livestream of the test, they just said that the windscreen is scheduled to be tested at 5:15 eastern.

Got a bunch of pics from the stream.

One thing to note. A change from the test at ISM Raceway, a duct has been added just in front of the shield to aid in driver cooling, which was one of the complaints that Scott Dixon had brought up.

Pietro Fitipaldi, who was going to run the Indianapolis 500 with Dale Coyne Racing, just had a bad crash at Spa-Francorchamps and broke both his legs.

If he doesn't race, I doubt anybody would be surprised if ZCD took his place. It's a real shame too. Looked a real talent.

I'd imagine Zach will do his 7 remaining paid races in a row, and then figure out how to cover the difference until Pietro is able to come back.

That would make the most sense. At least give the opportunity to Pietro later in the season.

It's May. It's IndyCar. You know what that means? It means the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is going to get PLENTY of loving. "May Madness," as I call it, starts today with IndyCar racing the Indianapolis road course. All leading up to the big Indy 500 on Memorial Day weekend. Oh... and the television coverage is on ABC. I hope you're okay with that.

Good luck to all drivers and teams this weekend. Go put on a great show today!

Thank you ABC for giving us nonstop coverage during a caution then going to a full on ad-break when Wickens pulls up to the back of Power... Nice...:banghead:

Man, thanks for the head's up! I assumed the race was tomorrow. With the Nurburgring 24 going on and a typical busy weekend for me, I never would've thought to check if the race was today.

Good race overall. Nice strategy fight up front. Will Power got every last drop of gas out of the tank. Was it Spencer Pigot that went airborne early on going over the curbing? He was super lucky he didn't flip or land on another car.

Will *cue Jeremy Clarkson* POWAH (Power) won the IndyCar Grand Prix yesterday. Cooler story is that Roger Penske knocked down his 200th IndyCar win. Whether you love or loathe Penske Racing, 200 is a tremendous accomplishment for one of the biggest names in all of motorsport.

Up next... Indy 500! I've been following the Indy 500 since about 2000. This one should be as entertaining as any other.

Why is it that Marco can have some very good practice sessions but when it comes to qualifying and the actual race he sinks like a lead balloon?

He was fastest yesterday and third today, but I'm guessing in usual fashion a top-10 is about as good as he can hope for.

Hasn't he finished 2nd and 3rd here several times already?

Yes, but I was talking about overall. It seems like a couple times every year he will be one of the fastest, but only when it doesn't count.

Is it just me or are anyone else’s ABC stations only showing qualifying at 4PM ET... Aren’t they live at 11? What BS is this?
