I wasn't able to watch the race live and for some reason my YouTube TV didn't record it , so I'll be waiting for IMSA to upload it to YouTube. Unfortunately I caught enough spoilers to know most of what happened but it will still be better to see it.

Laguna Seca usually never fails to disappoint with racing action. This should be a great race over in Monterey, CA. I'll have to find some way to keep tabs on the action. Or maybe listen to Radio Le Mans or something.

Hope everybody at Laguna Seca puts on a great show!

Porsche will be running throwback Coca-Cola colors for Petit Le Mans.

I'm watching some IMSA races from this year as background while working and during the Lime Rock GT-only race (oh boy, GT-only is so great... I'd say even GT4/GS could have fitted into the field to add some spice) and when breaking, the Ford GTs emit some strange buzzing sound when braking, like the iPhones' amber alert sound dialed down a bit. Hindy says it's the hydraulics but what the hell are they doing? Suspension under load or what? Sorry for asking such a dumb question but I'm simply not familiar with the car.

Thought the buzzing from the Fords was from whatever anti-lag mechanism they use to keep the turbos spun up even when not on the throttle.

Interesting theory. I only heard anti-lag in rally cars and they sound very differently, not exactly buzzing, more like small explosions - I have no idea whether any of the turbo DPis or GTs use anti-lag system and if yes, how they sound :)

Yep, it's the air compressor - they discussed it during...Daytona this year? A lot of people were tweeting/asking, etc.

What are people thinking about IMSA's primary series next year? Been hearing random "less than enthusiastic" stuff from a variety of podcasts, just concerning costs of entry, some teams departing, the loss of Ford/BMW, etc....and now Atherton departing. I really hope we're not headed for another slump like we had 4-5 years back.

Does anyone have any good or encouraging news about the series going forward?

the loss of Ford/BMW,

BMW only ended their WEC program, the IMSA side is still alive.

And really the only class that seems unstable is GTD and that's mostly just because teams have to wait for the FIA to release driver ratings before they can confirm a program (IIRC the only team we are for sure losing is Magnus and that's nothing to do with IMSA). DPi looks like it will have similar numbers (depending on what Juncos and Spirit of Daytona do), LMP2 may actually gain a car or two (PR1 is looking at adding a second car and Rick Ware is planning on a full season) and it sounds like there is still actually a chance the GT's may stick around.

Of course there is still quite a bit of time from now until the Roar, but apart from concerns about how things will be ran post-Atherton I don't see much to be worried about as of this post.
