 Wow, did not see that coming! I know Jordan has run with them in the past but did not expect to see Jan leaving (I hope not forced out) like this.

I imagine Jan is being shown the door. He's 46 now and they probably would rather have Jordan learning the new C8R instead of an older driver. How old was Johnny O'Connell when he was let go by Corvette? Probably not as old as Jan is now.

Looks like an NSX in front with the angled in parts and no connection on the bottom. Those secondary lights look weird too, being just six box shaped LEDs. Otherwise it's cool I guess

It's as underwhelming as expected visually (all the mid-engine cars end up looking too similar -but I get it, layout/aero have narrowed what a car can look like), but I do hope they revert to the proper yellow livery. I'm happy to see Corvette aiming for a more competitive car (as if that was even needed!). It's a decidedly unoffensive...race car. Great time for Jordan Taylor to be joining the team properly. Must be nice to show up and have a fancy new car - also makes sense, since all of the drivers would more or less be on an even playing field, without having 5-6-7-20 years experience hurling a normal vette around.

Anyone know any additional info about the Jann Magnussen situation? Is he retiring, or getting the boot from Chevy? Either way I don’t really get it...he’s put in some mega drives over the last couple years, and if memory serves, has made fewer major mistakes than his partner Garcia.

The various podcasts indicate Magnussen was starting to consider where/when/how to retire, some saying he was aiming for the end of this upcoming season. However, with a new car I'd expect GM encouraged him (in some fashion) to step aside so they can start the new process of learning the car with a driver who'll be with it for more than a year. It would make sense to run him as a third driver for endurance races unless Corvette have some other drivers in mind to build the next era of Corvette racing. Their driver lineup has been solid but unchanged for a long time.

Magnussen has definitely proved he still has the ability to drive a race car pretty damn well, but in his...mid-to-late 40's, he's been at it for 25+ years I think.

Just got to my hotel in Atlanta and thought I would double check tomorrow's Petit Le Mans schedule to make sure what time morning warm up is and according to the schedule it looks like everything has been backed up an hour from the traditional starting times. Now starting time is 12:05PM instead of the traditional 11:05AM. Good thing I checked. Now I can sleep another hour.

Looking forward to today's race. Sad to see the Ford GT's last event and I'm going to miss that distinct Porsche exhaust note in the future. Maybe the new one won't be too much different.
Yesterday's Pilot challenge race was good with a few hard hits and WeatherTech qualifying was exciting even though the Mantaplast time was thrown out for touching the car in the pits during qualifying.

And this

Here's is how to watch the race here in the US:
All times eastern.

NBC; 12:00 PM - 3 PM
NBC Sports App; 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM
NBCSN; 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM

#38 LMP2 car with a large crash in the esses!
And damage to the nose of the #7 Acura!

Edit: Cameron Cassels in the #38 was slow after the #6 passed in the esses, then Castroneves in the #7 ran into the back of the #38 sending him into the wall. Cassels is out of the car and looks to be fine.
