Arsenal 0-0 Burnley
Brighton 1-1 Leicester
Palace 1-3 Liverpool
Chelsea 2-0 Spurs

Quite a hard fought win for Liverpool, they were 2-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Van Dijk and Ox-Chamberlain but Palace really came at them in the second half and got one back, there was a very contentious penalty given to Liverpool by VAR which Fabinho converted.

Hakim Ziyech scored a simply outstanding goal and Thiago Silva made it two a few minutes later with both goals in the second half, Kane had a goal in the first half disallowed for apparently tripping up the defender before scoring, Burnley actually played a football match and got a good result against Arsenal.

So the Premier League goes on its winter break now, which does seem weird given there are quite a few rearranged games to play but the PL insisted that there is a break and most of those games have been given new dates, there is no PL action this week or next weekend and the week after that is the FA Cup fourth round at the start of February.

This is sort of an international break as well, there are qualifiers taking place in south America, north/central America and Asia, not in Europe though.

There is the mouthwatering Burnley v Watford game on the 5th to look forward to. 😲🤔😄

That match finishes off the gameweek in the Fantasy Football, so that is all up in the air for a couple of weeks before the bulk of the games start again on the 8th. 🙄

Indeed, it's only a break for some players, it's more of an international break being called a winter break really.

As mentioned above Watford did sack Ranieri as few hours ago, he only had 14 games in charge and was there less than four months.

I don't think this is a big surprise really, Watford only took seven points from the 13 games that he was in charge of and they suffered a really bad defeat at home to fellow relegation battlers Norwich 0-3 on Friday.

This means that Watford are looking for their 14th manager since the Pozzo family took over in 2012.

Looks like its Roy Hodgson taking over as Watford manager, he's 74 and I bet a lot of people thought he had retired.

To be fair though, he'll be gone before he gets to 75...

That job is so short term he probably thought "why not?"...

Reckon he'll stay until summer and then leave whether keeps them up or not.

Seems like win win for both parties to me.

Anthony Martial joins Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season from Man United. Van De Beek could be off to Palace on loan and Newcastle have given up on signing Lingard this window.

Man City are signing basically a regenerated version of their best ever striker.

Everton set to announce Victor Pereira as their new manager.

Aston Villa have signed Callum Chambers from Arsenal on a permanent deal on a three and a half year contract, he joins on a free transfer having been out of contract at Arsenal in the summer, Villa have had a great transfer window thus far with Coutinho signing on loan and Lucas Digne signing from Everton.

Man United's young Ivorian winger Amad Diallo has joined Rangers on loan for the rest of the season, seems like a good move.

Wolves Adama Traore is set to re-join Barcelona on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy for £30 million, Traore came through Barca's La Masia academy and made two appearances for the first team, Spurs were set to sign Traore and had a bid of £15 million rejected last week so Conte can't be happy!

Derby County's stay of execution has been...err extended, They have been given an extra month to provide proof of how the club will be funded for the rest of the season, weirdly it was thought that they would run out of money by early February so how they can manage to go beyond that is strange, unless they can find a buyer.

Liverpool are trying to sign Porto's Colombian winger Luis Diaz in a deal expected to be worth £37 million plus around £15 million in add-ons, he was linked with a move to Tottenham who reportedly had a bid of £38 milllion rejected.

Lyon's Bruno Guimaraes is set have a medical for Newcastle in Brazil as they have agreed a £33 million deal.

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he turned down an approach from Everton to talk about the managerial vacancy there, he said he has an important job to do at Derby.

Also a reminder that there is no Premier League football this weekend, and the transfer window shuts on Monday.

There was a medical emergency at the Fulham-Blackpool game where the Fulham fan sadly died, it happened during the first half on 16 minutes played when the match was stopped and then the players were taken off the pitch, the match resumed after around 40 minutes when the fan was taken to hospital but later died, Paul Parrish had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Thoughts with his family. :(

Indeed, thoughts for family and friends.

Seems to be happening a lot more than I have ever noticed over the last couple of months.

Agreed, I wonder if there's a connection between COVID and this seeming increase. Even if people have recovered from COVID it can leave them weaker in certain ways afterwards even if they don't realise day to day.

On another front, it looks like Mason Greenwood has got himself into a lot of trouble. Of course, he's innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn't look good for him. He could be spending some time in gaol if he's found guilt of rape and assault and rightly so.

Liverpool seem to have gazumped Spurs to the signing of Luis Dias from Porto for £37.5m, rising to potentially £12.5m more in add ons.

Spurs thought they had the deal in the bag, but I think Liverpool were planning on buying Diaz in the summer, and it seems had asked to be kept in touch with offers for the player. Daniel Levy reportedly considered reporting the behaviour of Liverpool staff to the Reds’ owners after Spurs were beaten to the signing of Luis Diaz. Not sure what for, 🤔 but it seems the Liverpool were more than happy that they got the deal ahead of Spurs. ;)

Diaz has scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 18 league appearances this season for Porto, who are top of Portugal's Primeira Liga. If he can get anywhere close to that, it will be an extremely good deal. I expect Klopp to feed him in slowly, but you never know if he adapts to Liverpool's style quickly.

Liverpool have also been linked with Fabio Carvalho from Fulham, who looks a real talent. Fingers crossed that he can join the other Fulham signing Harvey Elliott, who is back in full training after his unjury at the start of the season. 🙂

I was thinking something similar.

If he has done anything wrong, he will hopefully be prosecuted or not, in line with any person in a similar situation.

Greenwood could have played his last game for United, suspended from the team and arrested.

Hope he enjoys playing at Wigan, Rotherham, and Oxford next season.

Potentially his last game for anyone for awhile. The HMP Manchester could get an injection of football talent with him and Mendy, though if I were in such an institution, I don't think I would have much to do with them given the reasons they would be in there for.
Hope he enjoys playing at Wigan, Rotherham, and Oxford next season.
I think his wages may cushion any lack of enjoyment. ;)😄

Frank Lampard has been appointed new Everton manager.
And on a 2.5 year contract. Is that Lampard or the club not planning too far into the future, or both! ;) Although with how long Benitez lasted, it may be seen as long term commitment by the Everton owner. ;)🤣 Sadly, Lampard the manager is a grumpy chap. I used to like the carefree happy player chap.

Less than an hour left on transfer deadline day, Spurs have been the busiest PL team today.

They have signed Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski both from Juventus, Bentancur is a permanent deal and Kulusevski is loan with an option to buy, Ndombele has gone to Lyon on loan and Dele Alli is in talks with Everton for a permanent deal, Bryan Gil and Gio Lo Celso have both signed for Villareal on loan.

Donny Van De Beek has joined Everton on loan from Man United. Lampard's first signing.
Aaron Ramsey has joined Rangers on loan from Juventus with an option to buy.
Jesse Lingard wont be leaving Man United.
Barcelona have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Aubameyang, would be a free transfer.
Burnley have signed striker Wout Weghorst from Wolfsburg for £12 million.
Man City have signed striker Julian Alvarez from River Plate for around £17 million.
Newcastle have signed Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa.
Brighton have signed striker Deniz Undav for £6 million.

Aubameyang has joined Barcelona on a free transfer, its a risk for Arteta as Arsenal now only have two recognised strikers in Lacazette and Nketiah and both are out of contract in the summer, but it will free up £25 million in wages!

Dele Alli has joined Everton on an initial free transfer but with performance based add-ons, could be a great move all round.

Also forgot to mention earlier perhaps the best deal of the window and that's Christian Eriksen joining Brentford on a deal to the end of the season, will be great to see him playing again.

Raith Rovers have signed David Goodwillie, in spite of him being found guilty of rape in a civil case in 2011. The reaction among staff, fans and sponsors has been swift...

Wow, and I thought Dundee United's newest loan signing was bad.

Did he serve time in jail for his conviction?
No, it was a civil case. He was ordered to pay £100,000 in compensation to his victim. He appealed against the verdict but that appeal was unsuccessful.
