Well I did a decent job in qualifying and managed P9. Managed to climb my way up to 7th by about lap 8 when I was effectively driven off track twice on two corners by people who seemingly didn't care that they'd ruined my race. I was dropped to 13th. The two drives ahead managed to find each other and punr eachother off giving me 2 spots. P11 on the last lap until the last corner where I managed to get past a WRX which went off ahead for 10th overall. 83 points. Not going again as the tyres really die in the last few laps with me driving. Good look to everyone yet to race.

Race 1: qualify 13th, finish 11th.
This one was a mess. During quali I lost it at the top of the mountain by clipping the grass. Never managed to do this before but rescued some spots on the next lap.
Race starts and get up to 8th courtesy of various collisions. Stay there until midway through the race when trying to defend, I completely miss my breaking point and bale into the dirt so I don't wreck anyone's race. Eventually climb back to 11th.

Race 2: qualify 6th, finish 6th.
Not as dull as it may first look. Lap 1 I have a serious wobble entering the downhill section. Hip check someone in the process of trying not to hit the wall and go sideways, feel real bad for that. Move up to 4th after an error and the leader pitting, we'd see more of them later.
3rd was always a second or two ahead of me and had a comfortable gap behind me also so happy enough counting down the laps. However, 2nd and 3rd start battling. My pace drops drastically as I'm behind them and 5th starts catching up. The former leader who had pitted makes an awkward at best move into the elbow which pushes me almost into the wall. My turn to be awkward. I outbreak myself at the end of the straight and push them off (zero doubt this would seem intentional, I'd think the same but genuinely out braked myself). 4th after this, new 5th place driver pushes through on the last turn, they'd apologise later. Former leader who I pushed off catches up and I let them through. End up 6th for 120 points

Just 1 run in the WRX Qualified 12th and Finished 11th, total mess on the first 2 laps and rammed off 4 times until I was at the back so just put the head down and drove to the finish without a pitstop and watched all the idiots take each other out on the way back up. Just let the guys on fresh tyres pass and followed them as long as I could hang on and it was a crash fest on the final 2 laps in my mirrors with so many idiots trying to overtake at imposable parts of the track with twice people on the outside on the last corner thinking I would just disappear when they didn't even have a 1/3 of a car overlap, only one way that was ending on the outside even with me leaving them the room to work with on the exit. Lots of penalties but most were probably track limits and hitting the wall, one guy in a 911 thought he was driving a tank the way he was on the 1st lap and got away with it, I'm finding it hard to bother racing now with a race like this, Still got through it but no way I'm running the Alfa C4 on my Alt-acc as its a handful coming down the mountain.

Took a different approach to today in terms of practice, and felt I had a really good shot at a strong result in the Ferrari. Different work patterns allowed me to enter the opening slot, in what I believe was 3rd split, and was being graced by @zavisic_ (so instantly we're writing off the chance of a win!)

Qualy I really wanted to get two laps in and got out nice and early, created a good gap ahead (I can't drive in a tow for the life of me) and clocked a solid 2:11.3, made a mistake through T2 on my second lap but with a car behind I didn't want to just exit and potentially ruin his lap so picked an opportune moment to go flying off the track and out of his way! My time was standing at 3rd after our first laps and nobody overtook it on their second run so starting 3rd, superb qualy result.

Now I have a serious problem in races on cold tyres, I get beaten up for at least a lap until they warm up and then I settle down. I don't know why this happens or why I can't instantly be on the pace but it's something I need to work on (any help much appreciated!). Well it happened again, struggled around the first lap, down to 5th and looking over my shoulder at the queue of cars waiting should my backwards momentum continue. But after being awkward enough not to lose any more places on the second lap I settled down, retook 4th on L3 with a move down the left hand side on the run to The Chase, just being given enough room and from there we held station. I couldn't close the gap on the Frenchman ahead and was edging away from the German behind.

As we entered the final stages of the race the BMW that had been running 2nd and clearly struggling on tyres spun into the Dipper, promoting me to 3rd, strangely it might have been better for my race if he hadn't as his slower pace might have meant I could have closed in on him and the Frenchman, who I ended up finishing 0.9s behind. But the pace I'd shown in lobby practice wasn't quite there, think I was playing it a bit safe/nerves/just not quite on it.

Got to be very happy though, Q3 P3, biggest points haul I've ever had I think (286 - adjusted up a point), and a 'moral' 2nd place :D. That Zavisic is a bit quick!

Race 1 Porsche Caymen C/S
Door 11 Quali 11 Finished 9 - 27pts

Race 2 Mazda Atenza C/S (Alt Act) C/S
Door 15 Quali 7 Finished 3rd - 36pts

Thought the racing quite clean, took myself off the track at the top of the mountain in race 1, went from 7th to last on lap 4, so in the end a good result for me.
Race 2 quite uneventful. Very pleased to get 3rd.
Astonished at how many people where pitting for tyres. Thought the Atenza was one of the worst for tyres, so not sure if it was other drivers not realising pit stop not compulsory, or other cars much worse on tyres.

Oh, it definitely is bad for tyres. Although other cars can shred their tyres faster if they don't drive smoothly. Especially so for those who play on control pads, like the Dodge that finished P2 in the race me and Stpatty were in earlier.

The GT-R and Atenza are both awful for it but our tyres were lasting longer than the Dodge since we both use wheels.

I was amazed when I watched the replay and saw his tyres, I didn't even think about it being because of a wheel. The BMW I was fighting with a lot must have been the same, he was sliding around even in the first half of the race and his tyres were worse than mine, front and back. I reckon I could have been up with you if I'd qualified higher or if I'd just managed to catch the Viper, I think I got within a second of him but just couldn't get in slipstream range.

In general I've been lucky enough not to come across many intentionally dirty drivers. More often I look back at the replay and think... I could have done the same in this situation. But this guy was different. Watch him cycle through 3 different punts. There is karma, but not enough unfortunately.

I've added some time stamps for easy reference

Cheers,

Seth

Not the best combo for the Atenza, but a combo I'm usually quite strong with.

Got in to the last slot. Qualified on pole.... and yeah... another disconnect, this time from P5 on lap 6.

Unfortunately, all I walk away with today are 2 disconnects (lap 14, then lap 3) minus 2800DR...

Not uninstalling the game haha. But I reckon I'll be taking a wee break from it. Doesn't seem to be any issue with my connection:banghead:

well, he did say:

but seriously: a total 🤬, too many of those in this game....

Ps, consider adding Cake, the distance, in a future playlist:

OK my faith in humanity is restored a bit after today.

Bathurst is really a track where you need to pick your spots and hope others do the same. And the differences between cars that are strong on the mountain and ones that are strong on the straights makes for interesting racing.

But the Scirocco is horrible on front tyres as you'd expect, even with BB +5. You really are a sitting duck towards the end but I didn't fancy a one-stop because every pass is dangerous on this track.

Slot 3 EMEA - B/S race

Qualy went pretty well, got out early so could do one conservative lap and one on the limit. Unfortunately the one on the limit was just over the limit so my first lap counted for Q4. Pretty happy.

Race was a bit of a disaster. Messed up turn 1 by not thinking about the braking point at the slower starting speed and got swallowed up. That meant I was in the middle of a big battle that was eventually going to end in tears. Sure enough at the end of lap 2 there are too many of us trying to go through the chase and I end up wide on exit and hit the wall before the pit entry:banghead:. My own fault, should have had a plan for the inevitable before it happened.

Anyway down to19th and fight back to12th having good clean battles and the 2nd fastest lap. Kudos to a Brit called nitrogash in a Toyota who let me past on Mountain Straight as I had much better straight line speed. He was quicker over the mountain but never tried anything stupid. Felt a bit sorry for him as he got caught by someone else who clearly wanted to battle and suddenly I was 10 seconds ahead of them.

But I knew I had OK pace at this level so I went again.

Slot 4
Qualy went better this time. Second lap was the counter for Q3 (would have been pole in the earlier race). And this time I get turn 1 right and keep in touching distance of the top 2. A Jag in 4th keeps closing on me over the mountain (an FF car with BB +5 isn't great down the esses to Forrest's Elbow).
Eventually the TT in 2nd slows and I get him on conrod. Then on lap 8 the lead Jag pits and I lead for 4 laps. But the other jag that was Q4 has also passed the TT and is gaining on me fast. I decide I'm going to let him go at Conrod and try to hold his slip for as long as possible. He actually dives up my inside at Forrest's but not an awful move.

Meanwhile the jag that pitted is flying, with 3 to go he is on me. I am really struggling with tyres and go close to beaching it at the top of the mountain. That's enough to let him get past on Conrod and then he starts to swerve as if he thinks I will try a move. Fair play I flash him to say I'm not trying to pass and he gets the message. I manage to hold on to the slipstream up mountain straight on the last lap but again I nearly beach it at the top. That is enough to force me on the defensive to try to protect 3rd from a German in an Aston.

I go super defensive through the chase and try to force him round the outside at the final turn. But he goes for the cutback and it's a drag race to the line which I lose by a few thousandths!! 2nd fastest lap again (fastest was the TT who must have had a mare in the 2nd half of the race as he finished 19th)

But good respectful racing all round which was recognised in the chat after. Interesting that the winner was a no stopping Jag and 2nd was a one stopping Jag. I think 2nd threw it away as he had a 2 second lead from me when he pitted and about 5 seconds to the winner.

But I still got 74 points which will count for me along with my 80 for winning at Sardegna (#humblebrag). I won't make next week's race.

And far more importantly both races were good experiences, felt like proper motor racing (at least as much as possible in GTS) and ultimately that's what I'm looking for.

Wow he must have read Stpatty's post and tried steering with the touchpad. All over the place. Sorry he ruined your race like that but looks like you still made a few positions back.

Nothing to write home about, but sometimes just surviving is a little victory.

Americas slot 1 - Door 4, A/S lobby ~34.2K DR, Q11, P7

Couldn't catch a tow on my only qualy lap and lined up an OK 11th. As I would need a 3rd or better to improve my score, I felt a clean race, a top 10 and a few DR would be an acceptable result. And that's pretty much what went down. Good, consistent pace in the Jag, 2 nice passes, and a couple of mistakes by others and I wound up 7th for 124 non-counting points.

Fairly satisfied with that, but a better qualy and I know I can do a top 5 or better. Probably won't go again on the main. Got 550 DR for my efforts, so that's not bad either. ~34.7K DR.

Decided to have a go at this today, so logged on about 30 mins before the 1st race to get some practice. Unfortunately I forgot about the update which took 29 mins to install, so I ended up getting nearly 1 lap of practice before the race. Qualified in 18th, but only 0.75 of pole. Got stuck behind a group of guys fighting like mad, so couldn't really find a safe place to get past. And then had to bin it when the guy in 14th braked a little earlier than I expected going into the chase, so ended up 18th.

Thought my pace was ok so went again, and managed 2:11.2 in quali and got pole. Race was going ok, was keeping a 2 second gap to the guy behind, but then I managed to cut the corner at the dipper and got a time penalty, which dropped me to 2nd. Then a couple of laps later I did the same again, and dropped to 3rd. And then did the same again on the penultimate lap, dropping me to 4th. Those 1.5 second penalties really hurt as it is nearly 3 secs by the end of the straight.

Probably could have farmed the races and gotten more points and DR, but always try to give up when I do half decent. Looking forward to next weeks race, I like that Tokyo track :)

In a lobby with almost no one I recognized and then realized it’s because I’m door 19 and these guys are normally a split or two above me.

Qualifying lap 1 was frustrating. Got stuck behind a slow Genesis that held me up all the way up and over the mountain. Passed it along Conrod but Q11 at the end of lap 1. Clear air, no slip in lap 2 and as I came out of Forrest Elbow I felt like I’d hooked it up pretty well. Caught the slip of the car in front as I crested the hill and by the time I crossed the line I was on his bumper. Crossed and to my amazement, Q2! The power drop wasn’t holding the Jag back.

Q1 was a Megane and Q3 another Jag. The Megane cleared out early and the two of us in Jags ran in formation nice and smooth for 6 laps while we built a gap to 4th. I let P3 past up Mountain Straight on lap 7 and dropped in behind. P1 held a 6 second gap and it was another 5 seconds back to 4th. At the end of Lap 9 the Megane was back to 4.5 seconds in front and promptly pitted for tyres. P1 took the opportunity to up the tempo and started to push hard across the top. Rather than shred tyres, I let him go and tried to preserve as best I could.

Everything was cool until lap 13 when I suddenly noticed the Megane was back up to 3rd and gaining about a second a lap. Into the cutting on lap 15 and he was within half a second. I was resigned to 3rd and the new goal became to secure a podium. Across the mountain he was all over me and I was preparing to watch him go straight past on Conrod when the unthinkable happens. He gets it completely wrong into Forrest Elbow and bounces off the inside and up onto the grass. Suddenly I’m over 3 seconds clear in 2nd and now I’m making time on 1st, whose tyres are clearly shot.

Last lap is faultless for me and for the briefest of moments I think I might be close enough for a win, but alas P1 holds it together well and despite losing another 2 seconds to the Megane, I cross in second.

174 points, my highest ever, and one and done. I love the Mountain and I love this Jag!
Watched this replay this morning. Incredibly I’m now even more satisfied. The Megane came out of the pits in 9th and then proceeds to dive and nudge every player ahead of him on worse tyres. The worst was to take p3 when he simply drove an NSX off the track at Hell’s corner.

The mistake he made on lap 15 at Forrest Elbow was because he tried to make a heinous dive underneath and into me and missed. I was incredibly lucky to avoid a sideswipe. Sometimes the racing gods get it right.

Not sure why I tried to join a slipstream race in a track where my pace was atrocious, when those races are unraceable below the first two top splits. Qualified 16th as a very smart driver went for an overtake during my hotlap and then made me lose even more time as he went for a dive on the next guy ahead and punt him out of the way, so I had to take avoiding action. Yes, that was qualifying... :banghead:

Race from the back in a lower A-rated lobby was just impossible, just people going for silly moves everywhere on the track. Great racecraft...

Cannot be bothered racing again. Will probably do the Nations race at Laguna Seca to get a second score there and that will be my final FIA race. An excellent race at Brazil in the first Manu round reminded me of how fun GTS could be, but the rest were not enjoyable. Enjoying ACC a whole lot more.

Was brutal behind all the Sennas and Fangios at the back. To hell with Bathurst, I just stink there and it’s an awful race track. That’s my race report. Thank goodness I only chanced it on the Alt. The Porsche is useless there and in my hands, less so.

Man, what a day.

The first slot was just a waste for me. Qualified 12 with door #5. Things almost immediately went south when a Jaguar hit me off at Chase on the first lap. I managed to recover and finish back in 12th. The Jaguar driver did apologize afterwards.

I had to miss the following two races, so my next attempt was in the fourth slot. Qualified 8th with door #11 this time. I made it up to 6th by lap 10 but a Panamanian that was right on my tail nudged me into the sand at the top of the mountain. Fell all the way down to 12th. Of course, no penalty for them and it was definitely intentional. I recovered somewhat and finished 10th. Gained 100 DR, so no loss there other than my time.

Final race of the day. I qualified 12th. This was the most interesting race because the lobby had an infamously dirty player who was in an Atenza. This particular driver wrecked an 86 and later on a Scirocco at turn 2, which I saw happen right in front of me. I was close behind him after that incident but of course, I kept my distance. But as we both approach the final turn, a Mustang driver appears and teaches this guy a lesson:

I was lucky to not get taken out in the crossfire, but I had the best view. Karma is successfully served as the dirty Atenza driver gets a 3 second penalty for trying to get back at the Mustang and finishes 14th. When the race was over, he gets called out in chat by others and I reported him, although I doubt anything will happen. As for me, the Mustang eventually takes my place after the above incident. I tried to overtake a Lexus that was falling behind during the last couple of laps, but was unsuccessful.

Looks like I'm going to have to rely on Tokyo now for a strong finish to this season.

2021 Manufacturer Exhibit Round 5
Bathurst - GR4 Aston Martin
Slot 1 - A/S Lobby, 47.5K DR

I had a crazy week at work AND replaced half the parts on my, new to me, 2006 Mini Cooper S as I got ready for my Autocross race this Sunday. So, I had to be efficient in practice this week. Compared my video to the fastest guys in order to figure out where I stunk. What I learned, they are definitely cheating!! LOL. I kid.

Efficiency paid off as I qualified in 4th with a 2:12.4xx. Not a world record, but good for this guy. Played the long game, saving tires and racing smart. Goal was a top 5 with an eye on the podium.

After a few laps, patience put me in p3 with 5 to go!! Well, all that work went to #%@^ in one corner thanks to a punt at Murrays Corner. I didnt quit on the race though. Got back on my horse and got my top5, But missed out on an opportunity for a p2. That's the 3rd race in a row I've been punted. Annoying. Ah well, maybe next time.

I have some things to say about my race when I get the time. But I just can't understand how some of these drivers have S safety rating.

Maybe I should just stay away from the Asia region drivers. I wouldn't mind if we went back to only Australian/New Zealand manufacturer races. I can generally trust most aussies

While I understand the idea that having a race ruined by a couple drivers from the same nation means you cam blame the nation, I would avoid it. I have a solid list of Aussies and Kiwis I won't go anywhere near during a race as it is a guaranteed punt. Dirty drivers inhabit every country like a pest.
Might check out how lag is affecting thing things as well. I think that is a bigger culprit than most people think.

True, I agree that every country have there good and bad eggs. I've just had some bad experiences lately that have soured my last couple races.

Everyone defending too hard not being able to handle that someone actually outmanoeuvred them. The rules just seem to go out the windows.

Main issue has come about since the update to the penalty system where the idiots who done this all along would not make it into SR-S or last there if they did but now with very few losing SR they have all moved up and are free to do what they like. It's slowly killing the game for clean players.

Without doubt the worst culprit I’ve come across in FIA is Australian. Currently the problem is penalty system related, not Nationally related.
