Ok, first race I have @C_Raccoon23 in my lobby. I qualify P1 with a scorching fast time. LIke it matters, lol. Proceeded to fall back to to p6 due to the 2nd line getting some killer bump draft. No worries, its just lap 1. Go into Turn 1, left rear gets clipped just enough by some guy behind me and to my left and it turns me INTO RACCOON!! NOOOOooooo.. I'm yelling, NO NO NO NO NO NO!! Put Raccoon into the wall, he comes off, hits me (not his fault) and I go into 360 spins. Race over. Raccoon did survive, so I was happy to see that. Finished like 17th or so.

Race 2. Not so smoking fast time but another Pole Position. Hold p1 until the final turn, and get passed as p3 chose to bump p2 instead of me, so he got the win and I got P2.

Race 3 Started P4 in this one. Everything was going swimmingly as we were jockeying for position in the final turn. Then a certain driver that is featured on the Idiots of the Week quite often goes low, decides..NAwwww, I want to go Middle...Nawwww, I want go Low, Nawww...I'll go high and hits a guys quarter panel and starts the mayhem of spinning cars. Which took out me and several others. P15 or something.

Race 4 Another solid qualy lap going down. P4 by only a few thousandths. Race starts pretty good. I work up to p2 thanks to 2 guys really wanting the low line on turn 1. Lap later I'm in an outstanding position in p2, exiting turn 1 on lap 2 and the guy behind me decides he REALLY wants p2. Gets in my rear quarter and Pushes me out. No worries. I fall back to p6. Last turn I'm making my move, flying towards the front, some dude to the right decides he wants to be 4 lanes over and takes me out. FInish like p14.

Race 5. Maybe the CRAZIEST qualifying I ever had in 4 years. I set up my lap perfectly. I'm in the back of an 8 car pack. Way way back. Start the hot lap and I catch the main group. Made up like a full second, maybe more since everyone is in a tight line now. Go into turn 1, a group of 2 gets out of line and moves WAY down low. So we slide on by. Guy decides that was a poor choice and just NAILS my right rear tire trying to get back in line. I go down the embankment, almost COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS, one of the two low line guys hits my nose and somehow, someway, I gather it back up. Get in at the back of the line a make a huge run on the last turn. POLE POSITION. LOL. Insane. 3 Poles in 5 races. I book end it with a VICTORY.

Ya, its a silly race but I always get a good gut laugh out of it, so I enjoy it. Glad I have an alt account so I can really have fun and not worry about being taken out.

Tour de Gran

I wasn't leading for most of the race but instead was following the leading group.

Because you know in GT Sport, players can get extra touchy in the final moments for those precious podium places.

What makes this race more enjoyable was the fact that I was able to win with the car I love, the GT-R R33.
The RB engine is simply eargasm!

2021 FIA Nations Cup Season 2 Round 5

Just some scattered notes:

If you drove only one car this round, consider yourself robbed.

I chose three cars for this event. The Mustang, the BMW, and the Golf. They were each brilliant cars in their own right. Drafting a Porsche with a Golf at 200 MPH was a singular experience.

When I saw that the ‘88 Supra was the go-to car for qualifying, I expected it to be well-represented. What I did not expect was the strong Matrix vibe from all of the people driving the ‘88 Supras. Particularly when they clumped together (”MISter ANder-SON.”)

There was a lot of strategy for such an ostensibly simple track. Slipstream management and situational awareness were tricky. And crucial.

After getting wiped out early in the first race, I resorted to following the fastest pod of cars and holding onto their collective slipstream, but without getting too close. Going into a turn, I would wait for the pod to start driving like Shriners in a parade. They would shed a car or two and I would do my best to dodge the spinning cars. When a car went out of control ahead of me, I would lift off the throttle until the way was clear, then concern myself with re-acquiring a slipstream. I experienced a lot of near misses. The one time I did get a collateral hit, I was able to maintain enough control of my car to stay in the race and I only lost a few positions.

Position was irrelevant in lap one. I just focused on staying within slipstream range of the fastest cars while dodging Shriners.

Exploiting the cartoon physics of the game (bump drafting) was a must. There was a moment when a driver of a Toyota Athlete was bump drafting my car and we found ourselves gaining on a train of Agent Smiths in their ‘88 Supras. It wasn’t enough momentum to pass the train, but it was enough to pass the drivers at the back of the train. We sorely tested their discipline that day.

Drivers revealed themselves during the qualifying laps. Trading paint and punting in the first lap of a qualifying round was a sign of a chunk-head. If a driver didn’t understand the nature of a qualifying lap, then I found I could count on them to not understand the rest of the race, either.

As I mentioned elsewhere, driving the SSRX track was like driving through a painting. At 190 miles-per-hour. This track had no business being as fun to drive as it proved to be.

SSRX, a case of what could have been, but just didn't work out.

On to the next round, sure I'm in the minority who can't stand racing around the green hell. So definitely skipping that.

Was trying out the Manu round at Brands Hatch. Initially thought it was a sprint race. But from my quick practice run. Seems like it will either be a 1 stop, or a fuel saving race. Or did I have my settings wrong?

All the best to those running the green hell.

My last two FIA races were good:

Manu at Dragon's Tail Gardens:

I was thinking "I don't think the Jag will be good here" but I decided to race. Qualified 13th, started on Hards. In the race, I got pushed a little wide by a Slophy and went back to last place. Started to recover positions, lap by lap, until I ended in 10th by the time which I made my stop. Since I pushed a little, I wasn't able to save much fuel. Completely refueled and returned in 12th. I gained a couple of position by mistakes and people making the second stop. The last lap was very tense. I was very close of a NSX and planning overtaking him on finish straight, until I run wide, hit the barriers and almost spun out in the last corner. The funniest part is: the NSX ran out of fuel in the finish line. I was able to overtake him by a very slim margin. I almost lost a position to Slophy too. Finished in 7th. A dense result for a track which I barely run in GT Sports.

FIA at the race which big ones happens:

I picked the 95' Porsche, which I had bad memories of it (hello mr.slide). I saw a couple of people running with 88' Supra and I thought "they only looked in the leaderboards". Qualified 14th, thanks for being spun out in the last corner by my bumpdraft buddy. Yeah, these things happen. In the race, I saw why @Mistah_MCA said to not use the old Supra. A guy ahead of me tried desperately to block everyone from passing him. The pole fell to 13th in a couple of seconds and never recovered. I was lucky of getting into the twelve cars pack until the end. In the last corner, I went inside and was bumpdrafting the guy which took the lead, but I didn't plan well the slingshot and ended in 2nd, only 0.030 behind. But not bad. 147 points in the bag.

Now I'm thinking about Brands Hatch race. We have only softs available and the fuel tank covers almost the entire race. I did a little test run with my Jag, barely saving fuel, and had to refuel with 5 laps to go. I think MAYBE, maybe some cars will be able to finish the race without pitting, saving fuel and tyres.

No, you had them right. I saved fuel in the DBR9 to finish a no stopper. If I can keep my tires out of the grass I might have a chance to finish not last! LOL. Its pretty close between the 1 and no stopper. The pit stop is about 15 seconds or so with fuel. I'm sure @Mistah_MCA will have his lap guide out soon and will nail it down.

Based on what I'm hearing, it's looking like it will be a 1 stop race.
Some cars will probably be able to pull off a 0 stop, but will be difficult to do it.

Man, some people sure have a wildly out of line righteous attitude. I was bump drafting this mopar dude down the back straight and notice a single car catching us so I decide I don't want to bump draft him anymore because it feels like we are going slow. So I pull out of slip stream and pass, he follows in behind me and gets enough slip to pass me. But when he does he starts cutting over in front of me early and starts pushing me into the wall and takes off. The car that was catching us finally caught us and immediately gets binned into the wall by the mopar dude. All because he's in the jag and says it's the best lead car. So he deliberately blocks. Childish. Never had bad races with him. There's always been respect between us. Couldn't give a **** now.

So, I am prepared for the Nations Cup event.

My relatively humble Driver Rating frees me up to pick slower cars.

Like the '78 Firebird. With my own Rockford Files livery.

Like the F-150 Raptor. Because it's a truck. A nerfed truck, but still a truck.

Like the '09 Abarth. Because I own an Abarth.

Is a 9-minute qualifying lap good?

If you're one minute off the top time, probably not. However, it doesn't matter. It all never matters. What matters, is your joy factor. What do you think you will do, to have fun at this race?

Here - here, if you can't run the car you like then what is the purpose of this GAME? I am going to run the Hyundai I think - it is comfortable, quick, and fun to drive. Not a top time or fast car but who cars.

At the Nurburgring, car selection within a class is not going to make much difference for any but the A+ drivers.
Am I the only one (it is ok to admit it) who really finds it wrong when the race is set for N300 and the race organizers allow N200- or N400+ to be tuned into the N300 range? S-FR and GT40 tuned down into the N300 range are all over the leaderboards. Why even call the race a N300 race?

Yes, I think it is stupid too. They should restrict the race to cars that are N300 out of the showroom.

The Nations Asia TT is currently a four-way between the GT40 (1st and 2nd), SF-R Racing (7th and 8th), Ferrari 512 (3rd, 4th and 9th) and Porsche 996 (6th and 10th) with the sole M4 (5th) being the odd one out. Best time (GT40) is 7:41.6, 10th (996) is 7:45.9.

As for me, I’m struggling to get a time under 8 min even with the 996. I currently have the 996 and F50 on my shortlist.

Sorry that I'll sound very negative, but I've just had my most frustrating FIA night ever, and what probably will be my final one. 😡

Had really good pace here, at least for my level, was just 1.1s off P1 on TT. Really like the X2019 and this combo in particular. Managed to win from pole last year in the final round of the 2020 season and pick my highest Nations Cup points to date (although it was the other way round, Sardegna A II)

CSA Slot 3. Split 2, qualified P6. The start was a mess... P2 doesn't move off the grid, P4 tries to avoid him left and spins, so I had no choice but to try to squeeze myself between P2 and the wall. Unfortunately, I tapped the wall and it spun me around. 7 or 8 cars facing the wrong way before T1... 🤦‍♂️

After lap 1, I was 19th, 16 secs off the lead. Made a good recovery, pitting from mediums to softs on lap 9 and finished in 8th place, 14 secs off the lead. Wondering what could have been...

CSA Slot 4. I get matched as door #18 in top split! Rank 1 is Martin Marza, who qualified for the World Series Showdown and was P1 on TT... Race was going to be tough I thought, if only there would have been one...

View attachment 1072873View attachment 1072874

Since I didn't lose the points from the previous race or any DR, I think the whole lobby crashed...

CSA Slot 5, again in top split, although a weak one, only worth 259 points (which I'm sure its low for a top split, but very high for me). Qualified a solid P8, happy considering the strength of the field, mostly A+ rated drivers.

Good start off the line this time, but I ended up in the gravel in T1... down to last place again.

And when I was trying to start recovering, this happened... I passed a Brazilian when he spun on the quick left hander, he went for move into T1 by pushing me off the track. Had to lift to avoid running off. And when I was passing him again the next lap, he crashed me on purpose into the pitlane! 🤬😤

I absolutely have no words for what this guy did. That was lap 3, so I had no choice but to convert to a 2-stop, as there was no way I could make softs last 17 laps. Obviously, the rest of the race was completely irrelevant as I finished 17th for completely useless points.

Today I definitely had the pace to win that 2nd split race or get a really solid result in that top split one... Since I'm yet to score any decent result in this Nations Cup season and I was only going to race 2 or 3 of the remaining rounds, I absolutely needed good points today. So I have decided not to continue racing the Nations Cup this season. Might finish the Manufacturers Series, but I'm not sure, it might have also been my final GTS race.

Slot 3 start line mess on this post was featured as #3 on IOTW... 🤣🤣🤣 Clip sent by the Mexican who went from P8 to P1 in just a few metres. Unfortunately for him, he didn't win the race as Devon hoped, he finished P7 less than a tenth in front of me, he had an incident or spin with a few laps to go.

I should have sent my clip from the Brazilian in Slot 5 to IOTW...

All are N400 that have been tuned down . . . sad.
