NA Slot 3, A/A+ Lobby, 213 points, Door #10

This was my 3rd attempt at this race. The first two had some filthy characters in them that just ruined the racing and aren't worth talking about, aside from running into @Q8Racer7 and @KosmoKazi respectively. These short sprint rounds bring out some of the worst.

I managed to qualify P8 with a slipstream. I was in a pretty good spot, so my #1 priority was to just survive. I avoided battling with the other drivers as much as possible in the first few laps. A couple of drivers went off along the way, and fortunately, I wasn't one of them. On lap 4 when things settled down, I found myself in 4th and on the tail of a Lancer. Even though there were a couple of opportunities where I could've made a move to get ahead, I instead just tried to work with this driver by avoiding battling so that the others didn't catch up, as they were 1-2 seconds behind.

Things were going smoothly until lap 10, when my car understeered off the track at T1, sending me completely into the dirt. I quickly recovered, but it was enough for me to lose a position. Down to 5th. Another driver in a WRX caught up to me and overtook me as well on the following lap. However, they were having a bit of a hard time and I got 5th back when they went wide on T1 on lap 12. With only two laps remaining, I stayed ahead and finished with no more mishaps.

Because I managed to finish ahead of the two A+ drivers in the lobby, it was enough to boost my DR to a new high of 44.1K. In any case, this is a round I'm glad to be done with. Looking forward to racing the SF cars next weekend.

Final slot in Oceania was the most toxic FIA I have been in for a long time. I was in the same lobby as @pennanton and managed Q17 because it was a strong lobby and I am slow on this track.

Didn’t matter much as I got punted to Narnia at T1 and the replay makes it very clear it was deliberate. DFL by a couple of seconds. Made my way back up to the back of the pack and cars were going off everywhere. Just an extraordinary amount of punting, shoving and diving.

I sat behind 3 cars belting the absolute life out of each other and eventually took advantage of their battle to get past all three at the first hairpin. Then the 4C among them pushes back past on the sweeping left hander. I tack on to his tail and we do a lap in formation before I get punted at the final hairpin and into the back of him. That triggers the most petulant tantrum from him I have ever seen in the game. He punts me, drives me off, brake checks me and pit maneuvers me non stop for the last 2 laps. And this is an A+ driver in an SR99 lobby.

I will post video later, but it was utterly extraordinary. When I watched the replay there were at least 4 drivers who spent the whole race driving as dirty as possible. Shameful.
The two punts followed by a massive toddler tantrum.

Had to laugh at him using the indicators, but holy **** man. What do these people get out of racing games, really? I struggle to understand it, you didn't even really tag back or act out of place in any way. Not that it would excuse it, but it just shows it's not about you, it's something going on with them.

I had a punt yesterday as well, these things are so annoying, it doesn't take much contact if they set it up right and you just drift helplessly into the grass / gravel.

Not ashamed to say I stuck my elbows out yesterday to get goods results at both Interlagos and Autopolis, if that's how you're going to race me then you're going to get it right back.

Manu going to be a rough one too! The first and especially the last corner at Sardenga can cause a lot of havoc and the track limit penalty at the last corner section will also provide a nice target for punters; all they have to do is put one in the gravel there and the victim will likely get a 2 to 4 second penalty as a nice bonus. The track itself is a lot of fun though, provided you get some free space. I did a lobby race earlier today and went from 7th to 3rd and all i had to do was avoid any carnage, and there was quite some of that. The first lap and a halve were quite tough, after i had a bit of a gap to the cars behind me i could just settle and concentrate on my laps and slowly get away, not being able to keep up with the guys in front of me.

I am preparing myself for a very aggresive race, and it might be a fun one too. Then again it might very well be a horrible one...
Oh no doubt it'll be aggressive. Shame it has come to this. I wonder what the FIA think of a series branded with their mark as being a destruction derby with no penalties?

He’s an A+ driver who didn’t have good pace in this combo. I also think he picked the wrong car because when he got it right he was quick, but he was really really inconsistent all race. All of this seems to have made him irrationally upset. If it wasn’t me I’m sure he would have had a go at someone else.

I specifically tried not to retaliate because it was already clear we were going to finish in the bottom 2 places anyway.

There were a bunch of other incidents in this race that were the result of aggressive driving. But I had fully expected a bit of barging because of the nature of the race. The second punt I got was potentially because I had taken the inside line at the hairpin and refused to yield the apex to the VW driver (who had just run another Slophy off the track).

But all of those I treat as racing incidents and they don’t really get me worked up. The punts and this clown however were a different level.

The two drivers who punted me also punted others throughout the race. It really was a terrible race.

During practice for R5's race at BMB I found I can't change Break Bias when in "oval" BoP, which replaces Circuit BoP on ovals (?). It is not possible in both custom race and lobby races. Will the FIA race have BB off as well?
If not: is there any way of practicing with BB settings with everyone having the correct setup?

FIA will also have it off

Dredge’s Alt Adventures: Episode 3

Door 10 in a C/S lobby for my Canadian counterpart starting with 6216 DR. He chose the Slophy as the biggest danger in this race was getting a bad start and being sucked into the fighting pack.

Qualifying saw him 2nd out of the pits but 1st ran off at the hairpin and so it was 4 flying laps with clean air. A 1:11.7xx was sufficient for pole.

Surviving turn 1 was always going to be the big challenge so he held it narrow going in to minimize any damage. Sure enough the M4 in P2 braked waaay too late but, miraculously chose to run himself into the sand instead the rear bumper. Kudos to that guy. Having survived T1 the rest of the race was a procession. Pole to flag for the win. DR now at 7641.

It was very obvious that C lobbies in NA are far less dirty than they are in Asia. The race was remarkable for the sportsmanship showed.

Can't wait for GT7. Not feeling bad for binning the game. Seems like I'm not missing much with the same combos. Even though it simply Exhibition.

Just want to finally get the Supra for a Manu season and try the Genesis cars. Especially the G70.
Would be good to race against the regulars here. Depending where we start in ranking.

If anyone is interested my Sunday night practice at 9 pm eastern will be the Manu race for Wednesday.

I'll be running laps with race conditions. Most previous drivers aren't doin FiA so attendance is hit and miss but if you want to run some tire wear laps and work on stuff I'll be on. Presently pacing low 52's and A/S rated.

Shoot a friend request and I'll check you out. PSN is the same as my username.

Autopolis is always such a barge fest with those hard braking zones and the very short races PD seems to love putting there. Then again it looks like Interlagos is probably going to be more of the same this weekend.

Will have to practice for that on as it always takes me time to cone to terms with those SF demons. Gonna practice taking the punt cut at turn 1 since I expect the usual mess there, especially at the start

Yep, I'm just in maintenance mode until GT7. I barely turn a lap before these races. Looking forward to trying the new cars in GT7 (Genesis, Ford GTLM) and hoping for some actual new manus as well (please Bentley & Lotus).

At least the Sardegna race with mandatory pitstop could be interesting. If you think about it, it's basically like a joker lap in rallycross

You are a legend indeed ! Never noticed till now there was a mandatory pit stop involved. You likely saved me from a one minute penalty! 🙏
This is why I am going Slot 1 even though I am off the pace and will have to jump in straight after work. No mandatory tyres means there will probably be a few (at least 2) per lobby that will get caught out by this. I'll take free positions any day.

I likely would have been one of those that would win laughing at the rest because the rest could't manage their tyres only to see the one minute penalty show up on screen. 😲

and yes, also will be doing slot 1, for sure...

It's a little quicker overall to take fresh tyres, but you lose track position and I don't think it'll be too easy too overtake, but then you're more liable to mistakes on worn tyres.
So it just comes down to how bold you're feeling 😄
Roughy 4 extra seconds to take the tires. I'll definitely have more than 4 seconds worth of mistakes later on with worn tires so will lose the time advantage, so i'll be sticking fresh rubber on

If it's a mandatory I almost always take the tires, it easily makes up in time how confident I can be later on. Fair play to those borderline aliens who keep pace up even on worn rubber to where it's actually a debate or always a stop and go. I'll make the 2 seconds back on you by not spinning wildly out of control 🤣

That and what other cars are doing around you and where cars are around you.

Most likely the actual race at Sardegna will suck big time, but I really love practicing for it. The track is so fast and so much fun to drive with those short laps and these odd corners. Even after days of driving it I am still improving my laptimes, both in free practice and in lobbies. I think it really is a track you need to practice on to get the best results...

I was surprised how clean the four races I've entered in Race C were so far. With the aero wash it's really hard to engage people, so that helps. But it's been clean. Save for one guy that was deliberately hitting me from behind because he knew I was on Mediums and he was on Softs (still... BS) the others I encountered were really fun and clean.

But that's typical of Mondays and Tuesdays... give it til later in the week and all hell will break loose for sure. It's the norm.

I'll be taking tires tomorrow. So far in the Supra I do ok up to almost 20 laps but they start to fall off noticeably. Hopefully I can qualify a little higher this week.

Pretty darn proud of this for only a few months in this game. If I had more time I think I could find another .2 to give me my first official top 10 in my region.

My race pace suffers .3 to .5 due to nerves but hopefully more experience will help. I always seem to lose how far I need to look ahead and go back to braking too late...
