I don't know if I want to do this one, the strategy for ovals (according to Cartman) is to drive really fast and turn to the left sometimes, so what is wrong with this track? I hate ovals, but it's a skill that can be useful so I'll go at least once. Hope I don't ruin anybody's game.

Tried them all in the practice this morning. All were about the same. However the Corvette managed a better time than most only beaten by the Supra.
The Vette and F40 sound the best. The others are quite dull like a hoover. Though jumping into the Supra's cockpit makes it sound like Thunderbird 1.
I will probably try the F40 first and if I get a really bad race go back in the Supra. It seems to hold it's speed better on the bank which is why it edges it. I found the top speeds to be quite similar out of the draft.

The Vette and F40 fall back in the draft. The Supra is the only competitive car choice in this one. 👍

Don't bother with the Corvette. It's one of the slowest accelerating (if not the slowest), and doesn't have the top end to make up for it. And if you start behind one your race is dead before it can even really begin.

I’ve been practicing the draft in custom race vs AI using Chevy Novas in a one-make with sports medium tires. This is great fun! I lost this race by .001 seconds. Give it a try if you’re looking for a fun alternative to the Nations race.

Easily the weirdest race I've ever been in. Started P13, ended P18. I lost a lot of speed approaching the pit entrance on lap 1 because a Lamborghini pushed me against the wall and then took someone out.

One and done. That doesn't feel so much like racing, more like playing the lottery!

Frustrating. Qualified 15th as I was let out the pits with too big a gap between car in front and cars behind. Slowed down end of our out lap to get cars behind to work with me but no they didn’t get it. Car behind was afraid of bumping so would let off the gas every time he was about to nudge me. We did catch an ailing Enzo. Gave him a bump, then as I went to bump again he freaked out and pulled off to the side to get out the way!?!

Anyway, race was going ok after moving to front pack until second to last bend when someone lost it up high, flew down into me and bounced off. I managed to keep it steady so was judged to have forced him off so got a penalty. Pathetic!

Going again!

That’s literally all this race is, an FIA points lottery. 👍

Stats for this NASCAR style race (NASCAR in GT7 when?) - all with Super Red IV Supra:

Slot 1: Disconnected during matching (had to buy a one day speed renewal - I've exceeded my ISP's data limit)
Slot 2: P20* -> P9
Slot 3: P8? -> P12
Slot 4: P2 -> P16 (wiped out in a Big One in lap 2, then got a penalty unrelated to that)
Slot 5: P3 -> P8
*Slot 2 qualifying time invalidated at turn 3 for collision

In all, I failed to get that win I got in that FIA full season race.

Wait, your home internet has data limits? :grumpy:

So went with my idea of trying one and then switching if all went south.
I don't think I will need to.

Despite telling the car to leave the pits it sat still for ages even though there was nothing to my left. Therefore I was on my lonesome in a qualifying I actually didn't want to be for a change. Therefore I qualified DFL. (Only as someone quit.)
Got going and made places quickly. Got to the front of a group that lost a few seconds on the leading group and passed a F40 facing the wrong way. We all closed up on the downhill of the bridge. I seemed a free for all on the first bank and I managed to get ahead again. A fellow Brit decided to bump draft me which I was happy at. However it was better to go the other way around which he realised and did. However a Spaniard wanted it and tried to shove in. I didn't like that and shoved back. He seemed to get the message and tried with a Pole around us. We managed to pass another slow car which must have had a penalty. Up to 12th by this point. The Brit train continued to chug until the back straight. Going into the tunnel the Spaniard tried again to barge in and this time was stronger to shove me out and resist my counter shove. As he was pushing me towards the barrier I stopped resisting and got in behind him.
A yellow flag in the final bank showed another car spinning around. I was able to quickly tuck in behind my fellow Brit to time my run to the flag to perfection. I drew ahead of the group and went through another ghosting car. Those behind didn't have the tarmac to come back and a 19th to 8th was completed. My 2nd highest points haul of Nations and a CRB so very happy.
Only gained a measly 30 DR (Despite loosing 1,100 to those of a way higher rating yesterday.) but at 99 SR.

The rude Spaniard only came 12th so a small bonus.

I thanked my fellow Brit and left. Onto Saturday.

Ten-four on that. Granted the renewal is just a dollar and half (converted from my home currency) but still.

Weird, home internet is unlimited here, but mobile data is super limited vs most other places.

Ran one race, 19 on the door in top split Oceana. A good quali put me near the front, P5 I think. Pole was in the 4:19's while the rest of us were in the low 4:20's. Without a train forming, just lots of slingshotting. Muffin got P2, so good for him.

BIG freakout at the start because some crazy in a 300Z thought he'd derp around in a slow-accelerating car AND LOSE THE TOW 5 SECONDS AFTER THE START OF THE RACE. Then he blocked me instead of working together to catch up. Lots of big names in strange car choices, some Lambos for example.

So I put on my fat suit and conductor's uniform and went full Fat Controller. I had a monstrous train going behind me for the next lap and a half, 18 cars long and at 430kph.

Big mistake at the last corner though, I didn't dive to the inside. All the simulations suggested a run from 1/3 the way round would be best, but that didn't account for such a train. Ended up finishing 6th for 269pts (win was worth 340pts).

Jokes on the rest of the drivers, this was my only Nations race so those points basically went straight into the ether! :D
+1300dr was nice though :)

There were a couple of big names getting nowhere in the race though. Makozi, Emreeree, Rangeraus, etc all finished down the order.
Which brings me onto...

Through clever teamwork, clawed back 3 seconds to the leading group only to be fenced at the end of the race by live event participant/s who were obviously annoyed that they weren't winning.

Finished 18th, 0.6 seconds back from the winner... think I will go again

I was Race Engineer for Muffin that race. Walked him through getting pole position (the train was forming, so you want to start as far back on the train as you dare, because you all cross the line together at the end anyway), very well done. But the pole time was in the 4:21's, and there was no chance of matching the pace of the previous quali.

He ended up working the train fairly well, and at the last corner twhen the train split he got onto the tail of the correct driver, finishing P2 behind him. This race the field split into 3 packs, 8 cars near the lead, another 2 seconds back, and another 4s further back.

And @Rangeraus I'm so sorry to see that happen to you. You were 100% murdered, got side-swiped and sent straight into the pit entry wall at 415kph...

Hopefully your race3 wasn't as bad.

The previous daily race with Ford GT N600, the top leaderboard players used Wet tyres. Basically it makes you lose less speed entering the turns because the turn in is less sharp due to the lower grip of the tyres. Again it's a small difference and probably doesn't matter in a race, but I used it anyway

Ahhhhhhhh that's why. I was wondering why you'd do such a thing.

We'd tested wets previously for the SSRX race last season thinking that you might see some gains with rolling resistance or some other type properties, but didn't see anything other than a slight 'softness' through the corners.

Better that time. Finished 6th after starting 15th. Again, people don’t understand how to help each other during qualifying. Race was better with majority helping but there was one French guy that constantly barged people out the train to get in it. Finished first in my group behind leading pack.

I used Supra for all 3 races tonight. 1st attempt qualified and finished 11th. Qualified pole in 2nd races and finished 5th. I would like to have a podium and I'm not racing the rest of the nation series so I go again.

Qualified 2nd in last slot but lose out in the slipstream battle and finished 10th. What annoyed me most is the first 7 initially broke the slipstream, but was so uncooperative in the corner that the rest of the field catch up. Still fun to have these lotteries but just wonder what result it would be if I convert the qualifying form to the race itself.

Here's how my last race went

Utter ****ing idiots, the lot of them. I don't know some people manage to walk and breathe at the same time without having a ****ing stroke. By my count that's ten attempts I've had at a race like this in FIAs and I've been paired up with the single dumbest grids possible for all of them.

PS the F40 is genuinely comical at the start. It can make up two places on its own.

I have 2 internets, 1 is unlimited, unstable and unfast. The other is faster and a little more stable but still not great and is limited to 500GB per month.

Anyway back to the race, Q6 could have been higher but the guy I was working with got gready at the endm he beat me but we both could have been at the top :banghead:. So got a bad start and was losing the front 5, but it's OK there's cars behind me....WTF not one brain amongst them, rather than working together they all try to get to the front as we watch the front group go out of range. Then at the start of the second lap I was spun so came last. Will go again and hope I don't get brain dead zombies next time.

YEAH my first FIA pole, 4:25:068. I didn't think the guys I was with were going to work well enough but we did and just caught the guys in front before the last corner, still a bit of rough housing for no reason, but I got pole. Now just got to manage to stay on track this time.

And I get 2nd!!! I'm a happy camper and calling it quits. Will try USA and see if I can do as well.

So heading to bed last night I realized this was my last race of the Nations this season as I will be away for the last 2. And I think that's appropriate. I used to enjoy 1 make races, but I think this Nations season has turned me against them horribly. To sum up my rounds
Rd1. Qualifying incident and then in both attempts was punted and pushed off multiple times both races. DFL both races. (1 punt I earned as that was the result of the qualifying incident so I understand)

Rd2. Penalty in Qualifying, shoved off and penalized for getting hit multiple times race 1. Race 2 in the lower SR split was fantastic and clean, but worth rubbish points.

Rd2. My own mistake in qualifying and 1 in the race, then held up by a nasty blocker for most if the race until someone else took them out.

Rd4. Slow in qually but had most of my luck with me in the race. Top of the mid pack, but as door 1 it was a weaker lobby. My only really solid round.

Rd5. Penalty in qualifying. Pushed off to last lap 1. Never recovered. Race 2, get shoved for a small penalty then racing incidents with other driver. Still get somewhat decent finish, but had top 4 pace for that one.

Rd6. Race 1, walled to drop from front pack to second pack with no hope of catching up. Race 2. Destroyed in qualifying, race over before I finish the first out lap.

I felt like in most of those I could drive really well but people were just so ultra aggressive that even taking hard covering lines often got me shoved wide with a well timed bumper tap. I will probably race again next Nations seasonbut seriously debating it if this is what it'll be like. All 4 of my counting scores are within 8 points, and 3 of them are from recovery jobs after getting wrecked out of the race first run. Proof I can drive better, but will have to work more on showing that.

Not going to say too much about this, think the video speaks for itself.

Not sure how I was the one to come out of this with a penalty.

Just wondering why I even bothered now, thought about going again but only envisaged something similar happening again.

I hope the rest of you have better luck, don’t seem to be getting much luck of my own on GT Sport at the moment!
