Ran one race, 19 on the door in top split Oceana. A good quali put me near the front, P5 I think. Pole was in the 4:19's while the rest of us were in the low 4:20's. Without a train forming, just lots of slingshotting. Muffin got P2, so good for him.
BIG freakout at the start because some crazy in a 300Z thought he'd derp around in a slow-accelerating car AND LOSE THE TOW 5 SECONDS AFTER THE START OF THE RACE. Then he blocked me instead of working together to catch up. Lots of big names in strange car choices, some Lambos for example.
So I put on my fat suit and conductor's uniform and went full Fat Controller. I had a monstrous train going behind me for the next lap and a half, 18 cars long and at 430kph.
Big mistake at the last corner though, I didn't dive to the inside. All the simulations suggested a run from 1/3 the way round would be best, but that didn't account for such a train. Ended up finishing 6th for 269pts (win was worth 340pts).
Jokes on the rest of the drivers, this was my only Nations race so those points basically went straight into the ether!
+1300dr was nice though
There were a couple of big names getting nowhere in the race though. Makozi, Emreeree, Rangeraus, etc all finished down the order.
Which brings me onto...
Through clever teamwork, clawed back 3 seconds to the leading group only to be fenced at the end of the race by live event participant/s who were obviously annoyed that they weren't winning.
Finished 18th, 0.6 seconds back from the winner... think I will go again
I was Race Engineer for Muffin that race. Walked him through getting pole position (the train was forming, so you want to start as far back on the train as you dare, because you all cross the line together at the end anyway), very well done. But the pole time was in the 4:21's, and there was no chance of matching the pace of the previous quali.
He ended up working the train fairly well, and at the last corner twhen the train split he got onto the tail of the correct driver, finishing P2 behind him. This race the field split into 3 packs, 8 cars near the lead, another 2 seconds back, and another 4s further back.
And
@Rangeraus I'm so sorry to see that happen to you. You were 100% murdered, got side-swiped and sent straight into the pit entry wall at 415kph...
Hopefully your race3 wasn't as bad.
The previous daily race with Ford GT N600, the top leaderboard players used Wet tyres. Basically it makes you lose less speed entering the turns because the turn in is less sharp due to the lower grip of the tyres. Again it's a small difference and probably doesn't matter in a race, but I used it anyway
Ahhhhhhhh that's why. I was wondering why you'd do such a thing.
We'd tested wets previously for the SSRX race last season thinking that you might see some gains with rolling resistance or some other type properties, but didn't see anything other than a slight 'softness' through the corners.
