Pagenuad crashes into the garden around the fountain! What in the world?

Sato crashes and we’ll end under yellow. Newgarden wins followed by Grosjean.

If I’m counting right, there was 7 teams represented in the top 10, that’s crazy. One of those was Kirkwood which I’m very happy to see.

It’s hard to believe there’s only 1 race left until Indy starts.

Paretta Autosport will forgo the 500 and instead run some road and street course races with De Silvestro later in the year. Considering there hasn't been much said about this effort since last year's 500 I view this as a good sign.

Also, Juncos-Hollinger seems willing to field a second effort if needed in order to get a full 33 car field.

While the (seemingly likely) lack of any bumping dampens things a little, I've always enjoyed the unique format of the 500.

As an update to this they have partnered with ECR for at least 3 races starting at Road America.

The Good: Pato wins!

The Bad: Grosjean is still Grosjean

The Ugly: Peacock's IndyCar coverage is getting worse every week...

Sage Karam is running in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway later this year. For those who don’t remember, it was debris from his car that Justin Wilson hit at Pocono in 2015. Karam hasn’t raced at Pocono since.
Jeff Gluck has written an amazing peice about Karam, and I highly recommend giving it a read.

Do note that the article is behind a paywall.

It hasn't rained in over a week here, so naturally it would come on race day. Of course, this could be avoided if they scheduled the race for a more reasonable time to begin with, like 1pm or something.

Weather closed in fast. Grid walk cancelled and Indy Lights second race under significant delay.

UPDATE: Engines to fire at 3:40pm ET. Green at 3:46pm.

These are the circumstances every racing series needs. The uncertainty of wet or dry makes it so much better.

Colton Herta wins.

What an absolute farce by race control. There is no reason the caution periods should be as long as they were for the single car spins. You open pits, do the wave arounds and go back to green. Not trundle around for an extra 5-8 laps.

Great race, but some increasingly shoddy racing - I think they swapped the drivers for Forza lobby griefers.... I will agree about the length of the yellows though, far too long.

Did anyone catch Lungaard smacking into the back of Ilott at the end of the race? I didn't see it, but Autosport reported it.

David Land mentioned it as well in his video. But I don’t think the broadcast caught it/mentioned it.

Heavy rain and T-storms are in the forecast from about 1pm local time on so there will be no time wasted getting a time in today. Sunday's forecast looks dry but 15 deg cooler than it is now.

Dixon is on pole after an absolute monster of a qualifying run (apparently second fastest of all time).

The race should be good with lots of good teams starting further back in the field after not getting a second chance in qualifying.
