Great pole shootout today; very close calls with the walls for a few drivers, but all clean running and no wrecks

Jimmie Johnson did come very close to wrecking it, but man, what a save!

Looking forward to a great race next Sunday. I will be rooting for Sato to win his 3rd Indy 500 this year. I saw him in the paddock after the race in St. Petersburg back in February; got his autograph and took a picture with him; super nice guy and very approachable 👍

First crash of the month. Dalton Kellet spun in turn 1 and made significant contact with wall. He’s okay.

About an hour away from my campsite. Been driving all day so I missed Carb Day practice. But it was eventful.
David Malukas had contact with Santino Ferrucci and crashed out.

And then Colton Herta lost control and did a backflip.

Ugh. Looked like Herta got way below the white line and then it was game over, fast hands or not.

Takuma Sato’s my man for the win. Would love to see him get a third. If not, would be cool with Carpenter or Ferrucci. Or one of my nationals, Rosenqvist or Ericsson.

What do you all think? And hope?

My hope is either Jimmie Johnson, Alexander Rossi, or Juan Pablo Montoya. My pick to win is Marcus Ericsson.

My local NBC affiliate station is showing Biden attending a mass for the Uvalde,Tx. shooting victims. This will probably last all afternoon. I thought that is what news programs are for.

You must be near there because I'm using the Buffalo, NY feed and it's just the race.

I hope Jimmie takes it.

But I'd also be happy if Newgarden or McLaughlin take it.

Callum's out.

Edit: Palou might get penalized, too. Yellow came out before the commit line.

Man... Juncos really can't take a break...

Also, in other words... Amazing to see the 500 back in ESPN LA after how many years!! 😁😁
