I thought the race was over once TK prevented Rosenqvist from getting through.

Spoiler alert, still ended on a yellow. 🤣

Hat's off to Ericksson, tho. Probably the most under the radar indycar driver.

He ran like 4th or 5th all day and then after the last stop just hit the nitrous and shot to the front.
Push to pass does wonders, if they're still using it. I don't think the commentators talked at all about PTP.

I'm happy to see Kirkwood get a seat with Andretti, hopefully they can manage to put together a competitive car for him on a consistent basis.

So a 3rd car at AMSP or is Rosenqvist out?
According to rumors, both will be happening with VeeKay also joining the team. If said rumors are true that would be one hell of a lineup if Rossi can return to form and VeeKay proves to be as good as many believe him to be.

Not really sure where Rosenqvist ends up if he is indeed out at AMSP either, my guess is he winds up on a GTP/Hypercar team.

Initially heard Rosenqvist out but Marshall Pruett wrote that SPAM was denying that, so who knows?
Companies always deny rumors, after all they're not going to announce big news during a random interview they have little control over.

In other driver news, Ilott is out for Detroit due to injury and will be replace by, you guessed it, Santino Ferrucci.

https://racer.com/2022/06/01/ferrucci-to-sub-for-injured-ilott-in-detroit/

He's put together some great runs in the super-sub role so it will be interesting to see how he does here.

One week from now I'll be at Road America, to say I missed it after skipping the IndyCar weekend last year would be an understatement. :D

The new rumor is Palou to the AMSP 3rd car. :odd:
I would be genuinely shocked if that turns out to be true, but on the flip side it sounds so crazy you wonder if there's actually some truth to it. It would certainly shake things up if it happens, which is always interesting.

I could see Ed Carpenter taking a chance on Ferrucci should VeeKay move over to SPAM.

Word being tossed around is that neither Rosenqvist nor Van Kalmthout (Veekay) will be in the 3rd AMSP car. This does give an opening for a certain Aussie for 2 American chances.

Jenna Fryer tweeted that paddock rumor so take it for what its worth.

Any one else think O'Ward was a bit of a coward for backing out of that pass? He was half a car length ahead

I don't think either of us are in a position to call anyone racing at Indy a coward...

I'd imagine points also came into play, currently he is 2nd in points, had he risked it and crashed (which is what likely would have happened) it would have put him a very deep hole.

Especially O'Ward, I thought it showed some maturity and forward thinking. He's kind of known for some pretty audacious passing, surprises me how many he actually pulls off!

If I owned a F1 team OWard would be unhirable to me after that move
