Just watching the live Sky Sports YouTube channel with most of the cars running FlowViz. Seems to me that it gives away design secrets for free to other teams. I'm sure all the teams pour over spy photos of their rivals new cars and reverse engineer what they're trying to achieve, but the FlowViz pin points aerodynamic areas teams are likely concerned about on their new cars. I've always wondered why they don't use ultraviolet flow 'paint' for this. Let the car do it's run in public, then when back safely in the shuttered garage, get the UV lamps out.
I guess because they need to see how it's behaving on circuit, through corners, wind, in the wake behind other cars and so on. By the time it gets back to the garage after a slow in lap and it's been sat for a while, it might not be as useful as it runs down the bodywork.
