Just watching the live Sky Sports YouTube channel with most of the cars running FlowViz. Seems to me that it gives away design secrets for free to other teams. I'm sure all the teams pour over spy photos of their rivals new cars and reverse engineer what they're trying to achieve, but the FlowViz pin points aerodynamic areas teams are likely concerned about on their new cars. I've always wondered why they don't use ultraviolet flow 'paint' for this. Let the car do it's run in public, then when back safely in the shuttered garage, get the UV lamps out.
I guess because they need to see how it's behaving on circuit, through corners, wind, in the wake behind other cars and so on. By the time it gets back to the garage after a slow in lap and it's been sat for a while, it might not be as useful as it runs down the bodywork.

Lights out and into the pits we go.

Going by Helmut Marko assessment, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull have decent race pace, Ferrari are disappointing. That looks like a fair assessment to me, hopefully Ferrari are sandbagging a lot and they can turn it up, otherwise it will be a difficult season for Lewis. Will hopefully get some interviews and see what their impressions are soon.

It feels so odd not seeing Hamilton's name next to Mercedes. This will be the hardest time I have adjusting to a driver move.

I know conditions aren't comparable and such but the times are very nearly quicker than last year's top 2 times in qualifying which were both 29.1 by Verstappen in Q3 and Leclerc in Q2.

With those times, Lewis would have started 8th, +2 from where he did qualify and Carlos would have been P2 also +2 from where he was.

testing means nothing but its looking like top 4 is Mclaren merc ferrari/rb which is kinda crazy. I want lewis and ferrari to look amazing but the car doesnt look to rotate as much as the mclaren and merc, I dont know if thats on purpose or not, experimenting with different lines etc.

also these bad croft puns make me feel violent

This testing has been so weird with the delays.
Circuit power cut on Wednesday
Rain in the desert and 8 teams not bothering to bring wets
Now the glass has shattered on the Chief Flag box in the pit wall causing a Red.

I don't think this is the test sessions the teams or circuit were hoping for.

I always thought that Pirelli themselves were responsible for bringing tyres to events?

For the test, each team was given a choice of 6 dry compounds and 2 wet compounds and told to pick 35 sets in any combo they wanted. They can use 30 sets over the three days.

Only two teams brought Inters and one brought Full Wets. I guess they were properly vindicated on Thursday morning.

Now we can add "Bus on circuit" to the list of stupid red flags
