2024 Touring Car Thread - BTCC, TCR, and more.Touring Cars

2 wins for Ingram and 1 for Hill at Silverstone. Hill leads the 2022 Champ by 2 points with only the Brands Hatch GP meeting to go.

The PMR drivers wrap up the Independent Drivers title (AT-S) and Jack Sears Trophy (Doble) despite losing 1st and 3rd on the grid to failed ride height tests and Doble not even starting Race 1 due to a turbo issue. (He seems to be jinxed at Silverstone)

Regarding Race 3, I honestly thought for a moment we were in for a repeat of 1991 - http://touringcarracing.net/Races/1991 Silverstone 2.html https://1990sbtcc.com/2021/04/01/looking-back-at-1991-part-1/

SCRATCH THAT!

Hill demoted one place for an incident with Dan Cammish.

Hill and Tingram go into the final meeting tied for points with Hill ahead on countback.

Thank goodness Alan Gow would never allow anything akin to Abu Dhabi 2021 to happen in the BTCC!

Daryl DeLeon ran his Cupra Leon on 100% sustainable fuel at Silverstone.

If memory serves me correct, this is the first time a driver has run a different fuel from that of the rest of the field in the BTCC since Team Aon ran their Ford Focuses on LPG in 2010.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

Went to Silverstone for the BTCC last weekend and also had a go on their Simucube 😉

20 minute session and second place on their leaderboard (first place actually works there 😯) I'm proud of that 😁

Dan Zelos remains at Excelr8 for the finale at Brands Hatch.
Good news, doubly good as he's from the same county as me, a town just down the road. Which also means local radio is covering BTCC a bit more as there is local representation.

Want an ideal race 1 for Ingram, dropped to 9th after turn 1 drama with Sutton and Cook after Cook lost it into Druids and took Sutton out.

Fought back to P3 though. But with Jake Hill winning the race it's advantage Jake going into race 2.

Edit.

Early moves for Ingram to pass Turkington and Hill by lap 3. Sutton has gained 14 places in 5 laps 😮.

Absolute nail biter for the finale.

Wish it was Turk in contention instead of Jake, but glad it's Ingram and not Sutton.

In any case, I want the BMW driver to prevail.

Wanted Ingram to win but certainly can't take anything away from Jake, had a phenomenal season overall, drove a great race in tough conditions as well.

Congrats Jake Hill.

New manufacturer for the grid, FWD saloon, plus possible development of a Le Mans GT3 racer - place your bets

Sadly the FWD bit rules out the lovely Alfa.

Not really that many saloons that fit the bill currently on the UK market. Maybe a Skoda?

Well GRM have just built a new Peugeot for TCR. Do Peugeot 308s sell well in the UK?
Reasonably, but it's not a saloon so I don't think it'll be that.

Audi A3 or Mercedes A-class saloons perhaps?
Yeah these are good theories, it's actually quite tricky to think of any other saloons currently available. Honda Accord maybe?

True. The 508 would probably be too big. Unless it’s the size of a 3-series.

Honda Accord seems long as well, but I remember when the VW CC was racing. The news has got me looking over the fence.

But that being said, the 330e that WSR/BMW run isn't exactly small. My brother-in-law has one and they're absolutely massive.
