I'm not sure why, but I believe this was unofficial back in December.

Going to the back of their respective lines today (all backup cars except Castroneves - engine change and Stenhouse - 2 pre-race inspection fails)

van Gisbergen (was to start 26th; also failed pre-race inspection twice)
Stenhouse (was to start 31st)
Keselowski (was to start 34th)

Race red flagged after 10 laps due to rain. Seems like it’s every year with this race.

I am starting to think no matter the start time, it would rain within 15 minutes of the start.

Hearing Harvick say "Rizz" was not at all something I expected to hear on the broadcast.

They came back on track and rain again after 10 caution laps. If they have to cover the cars, I think they will ppd the race.

43 laps in, Allmendinger off the pace. Thought I saw smoke coming out the side pipes. Possible engine issue.

3 car incident with Hamlin, Smith, and Berry will bring out the first yellow for cause just 2 laps short of the end of stage 1. Joey Logano leads over Keselowski and Blaney.

Engine blown on the 16. 38 has a broken toe link so both of them are out of contention.

22 might be blowing up. 91, 1, 19, 84, 8, 11, 56, 40, 42 and 35 all involved in chain reaction wreck from the 22 failing to get up to speed.

Blaney leads at the stage 2 finish over Cindrics and Elliott. 22 had a peice of plastic get sucked into the throttle body. They got that fixed and recovered to 9th by the end of the stage. He’s now pitting to replace the airbox.

The big one finally happens when Logano tries to take Stenhouse 3 wide, and Stenhouse wouldn’t let him. Multiple contenders taken out. Logano, Stenhouse, Blaney, Busch and others.

Another big one! Bell gets turned in front of the pack. Tags Preece in the right front launching the car airborne and into a flip!

Daytona really hates Ryan Preece. Second major flip of his career at this track. It looked like it just blew over as soon as the car got in the air.

Custer caused 2 wrecks in the final laps taking out Hamlin and Cindric. William Byron goes from 9th to 1st on the last lap to win his 2nd straight 500.

To be fair, the caution here would NOT have changed the top 2.

No but it should've been thrown immediately after the crash. NASCAR is responsible for the drivers' safety and this non-call spits in the face of that. Don't NASCAR care about safety? It should not be a discretionary call at any point in the race.

The Atlanta entry lists are out, and we have 3 field-fillers on the Cup side:

• Rick Ware Racing #01 - Corey LaJoie
• NY Racing #44 - JJ Yeley
• Live Fast Motorsports #78 - BJ McLeod

Xfinity will have a full field of 38, with no Buschwhackers (or drivers running for points in the Trucks, for that matter), and part-timers #53 (Mason Maggio), #74 (Carson Ware) and #92 (CJ McLaughlin) joining the full-time teams.

The Trucks will have 33 trucks, including Michael McDowell in the Spire #07 and Kyle Busch in the Spire #7.

Denny Hemlin said it best on his recent podcast, the drivers who pull stupid moves should be called out. Right now everyone just shrugs their shoulders and says "well thats super speedway racing". Raise your standards, this is supposed to be the most prestigious race on the schedule but it hasn't finished under green or the normal distance since 2017.
