Hypercar BOP 1-2-3

The GT battle was great, the driver rosters seem much better except for the Iron Dames bronze who was slow in ASLMS and now in WEC.

This race was surprisingly clean, I expected a lot more yellow & safety cars.

Some very surprising battles in the hypercar class (Peugeot vs Porsche :D) and a lot of tension between #83 & the official ferraris at the end.
Earl Bambers catching up after a spin in the first laps was just epic (from p18 to p3 in like an hour), the caddy crash was also epic (but in the negative way)...

The (lm)gt3 had some very good battles and in the the end a surprising battle (corvette vs mclaren). The gt3 coverage was again sub optimal when hypercars where battling...

Not sure if its my imagination but I have the feeling that the cameras always switched when the cars came to or near the grandstands/seats. Occasionally you could see that most of the seats were empty (similar to alms and certain imsa races)...

Celia Martin is pretty new to aco rules racing (7th race), she had some podiums at the nordschleife 24h races/series and finished in 6th plcase last year in the le mans cup. I would give her some time to adjust to the rules and competition :D

McLaren and Zach Brown once again hinting very strongly that they'll announce their Le Mans / WEC challenger at this year's event in June, as it is the 30th anniversary of their win in the F1 GTR. Reports say it'll be a LMDh using a Dallara chassis and a version of the Artura twin-turbo V6.

Would be great! It‘s awesome to see such a large and diverse lineup in the Hypercar class.

This is for UK viewers and apologies if it’s old news…

But I’ve just realised they’ve taken away the Standard Discovery+ subscription in the UK (£7 a month) which had Eurosport and now moved it to the Premium package (£31 a month!) at more than 4 times the price!!!

Guess I won’t be watching the 2025 season then - don’t fancy watching on my phone via the WEC app

Yep it sucks, for WEC and some of the other niche stuff on Eurosport like cycling. I’m not funding Discovery’s football contracts so I’ve switched over to IMSA and their free Youtube streams.

Wow that's harsh!

By the way they offered a 15% discount for the WEC 2026 season pass or this year for a friend, because of the issue we had with the FIA WEC TV app for the first round in Qatar.

I watch to races on my old gaming PC which is connected to my 4K TV with the WEC website.

Yeah - but I foolishly decided I didn’t need that (at €49.99) £42 for the year as I just get Eurosport for April-Sept for £34.95 and I get to watch Roland Garos with it too.

I noticed that the Qatar race full length replay hit their Youtube channel a lot sooner than last year. I think it debuted on Thursday or Friday after the race when before it was two or three weeks before it posted. That sort of follows the IMSA schedule with full length replays posting on Thursday.
