Mister E
I don't see why people think leaving their PS2 on is a bad thing.

It can be if you have bad quality dvd's inside. A lot of tracking and focussing of the laser can eventually overheat the chip that controls the laser and that chip or the laser eye or both will be a goner. But with originals and a non-modded ps2 I agree that it shouldn't be a problem. It's says nowhere in the manual that you shouldn't have it on for more than x hours.

The key is good quality dvd's, so the laser isn't stressed too much

Shouldn't be a problem at all, PS2s are made for working a long period of time after eachother, cause GT is on it. :sly:

Hahaha,so you are talking about me eh? Yes I am using A-Spec Mode ^.^! Of course! I would have to agree with Wizard-san about this, but "I'd rather not even do the race than use B-Spec Mode" or something like that, lol. BASICALLY...it would feel as if I had accomplished anything at all if I didn't do it myself. Ah,by the way..I took a better picture XD! It's of the whole screen too..it looks A LOT better than the other ones, look look! *goes back to racing to hurry up and get to at least 20 hours now* I wanna come back and talk to you guys ! I've been eating yet, another Red Baron pizza,so I took a break *points at the 18 hours in the corner* that's why this hasn't moved like, hardly at all right now..but it will, hehe

i remember hearing someone say they would like to see someone race a 24hr endurance race via webcam?
anyways when i get gt4 when it gets released in the us i will be putting all of my 24hr endurance races i do on my webcam on yahoo messenger so if you would like to watch me pm me :) :)
i'm also gonna try running nurburgring and le mans back to back (with only a 10 to 20 minute break in between both races. yes i know i sound like i'm crazy but i done 3 all nighters in a row tons of times so this won't be such a hard thing for me to do.

No way you're doing 48 hours in a row

Their might have to be a Suregon's General Warning label added to the US release of GT4: "Extensive playing of this game for multiple 24hrs endurance races may not be healthly and cause life threating cancer or cause death."

i'm serious though i will do it (or at least try to) and have it on my webcam on yahoo messenger
it will also get 2 of the 3 24hr races done and over with right quick

They dont need to put a warning on it, they already suggest to take a 15min break every hour you play in the front of the manual so that covers all there bases.

Now for the under-statement of the year. "That was the longest its ever taken me to get 7 A-spec points."

Ok then I'm going for 3 X 24 = 72 hours straight, no brakes, no coffee, no anything.

Need a challenge :dopey:

the thing is when you think about it it seems very hard for someone to do but it is possible just remember one thing "nothing is impossible if you believe you can do it you can"

Yeah ok , but I say 50 x 24 hours is impossible, no matter what you believe :ouch:

Righty folks - Stop spamming.. This was a good thread and I'm very curious as to how our own AE86driver is doing....

I don't see H gate gears appearing on a PS2 or PS3 or any console, what happens if the car your in has more gears than the gate has? Your buggered, who'd have though thered be a car in GT4 with 8 gears, what if you want to use that wheel for a future truck racing game and suddenly you may need 9 or 10 possibly more.

Well perhaps they could make one for a standard 6 gear car but also have the ability to lock out 4 of the gears & use it as a sequential like the current DFP. Obviously this is just wishful thinking but, meh. They should atleast be able to manage force feedback pedals & a clutch.

I use manual with a wheel but I cant get the hang of it properly with the pad so I stick with auto when I use that.

Hehe I finally got used to manual by doing bestlaps in GT : P. Got my lap times down by around 5 seconds on Citta Di Aria in the McLaren. :) (With pad that is)

Good luck with the race AE86Driver, although personally I think its a waste of time & suicidal

an enduro competition might be a cool idea;

comparable cars, same track and see who's done the most miles/km after 24 hours.

Best would be doing it at the same time (although timezones may make that a little hard)

You have to proof your race with a screenshot

Only thing is that I don't have gt4 yet :ouch:

Has anyone actually completed this race besides the guy who is doing it right now? He better get a good car :sly:.

Followed by, in second place:

Just kidding, guys :D

@ AE86Driver: Keep it up, the end is near (the race end, that is :sly: )
Nice screenshots also 👍

EDIT:

If someone were to dare me to drive the 24Hour Race without taking any breaks, I could do it with the help of "The Beatles" to listen too. :sly:

I know what will be playing for my 24 Hours Races: Pink Floyd :D

The Wizard.

Hyde did the 24hr Nurb in B-spec mode. He won a fictional F1 car, I think it was made by PD.

On another note I have used manual gears since GT1, started when I was like 13 or 14, it is second nature now.

I would expect the prize to be an F1 car for this race 👍. I used to be a full auto guy, but I used manual for a while in an OLR race, and in just a few days I made the switch.
