than why is he playn 24 hour race? thats so dumb isnt it?

What kinda q is that????????? Then you can just as well ask why they put 24 hour races in the game alltogether?!

Maybe some people like to race endurance? Challenge? Doing something crazy?

You go and watch your b-spec ai cars for 8 hours, enjoy yourself

wtf? u did the whole 24hr race by ur self? i mean... do u even have GT4? or u juss dunno what they are sayn at all. I got GT4 like 2weeks ago, and ive been playn on and off. let me tell u the difference between A-spec and B-spec. A- spec is the one u drive by your self. B-spec is the one that u can make ur computer(AI) drive for you. the more u train the AI, better the Ai will be. u can earn B-spec points by making computer run well on different kinds of tracks, and different cars, and etc. I mean, theres so much things u can do with B-spec u kno. GT4 isnt just a driving game dude. u can make it a 3x speed too. so simple. well, try figuring it out by ur self, if cant, just ask the master. i kno all the prize cars too.

I assure you he already knew all of that. He has the game and has been playing it for quite sometime. The whole point of this thread is that he wanted to do it in A-spec mode not B-spec, and he was looking for support from the forum.

For fun and a challege obviously. Just because B-Spec mode is threr it doesn't mean you have to use it.

If you read the whole thread, you would find many instances where AE86Driver states why he is doing it himself: mainly pride and wanting to accomplish something. As stated elsewhere, using B-Spec is like not doing the race at all... People like me, AE86Driver, and others that are really obsessed with the GT Series want to play the game themselves, not let the AI play it for them. Not being mean or anything, but people just play the game the way they enjoy it the most. I do enjoy it the most by playing it myself... and so does AE86Driver, apparently. Not flaming you at all, just a matter of different opinions 👍

ahh, ic ic thats coo. but u kno b-spec isnt juss makin Ai do everything for u. u make them to take different lines too. its more complicated than u think. ppl who dunn really care would juss leave it over night and ****. but dunn make fun of b-spec dude. its totally cool. the point cal go up to 9999. well, good luck 86. have fun man.

I wasn't making fun of B-Spec... I am sure I will give it a try (once I get the game, I don't have it yet :indiff: ), to see how it feels to be a manager and to watch some virtual racing movies... I was just saying that I won't use it for races and certainly I won't use it in my main save game, the first time I go through it.

Well I did the 24hr at Nurb over the weekend, and I have to say I had a great time. Started about 9:00pm Friday night and finished up about 8:30pm Sunday. Got in only about 3 hours Friday night, got in about 12 hours on Saturday and finished it up on Sunday. Had the stereo setup beside the TV and lots of coffee to keep me a wake and beer to keep it interesting.

It's a real sense of achievement that maybe not a lot of people would understand. When I close my eyes now I can still see the track before me :-)

My eye's are a bit red, my backs a bit sore but it was totally worth it.

P.S. My choosen car for the event was the Subaru WRX Super Touring Car '01, the fastest lap actually coming in the 22nd hour at 6:59, won the race by 4 laps over second.

Glad to have another member that understand the beauty/pride deriving from achieving something like that yourself... I can't wait for the release date in US to give it a try :D I will be able to join the "Club of the 24Hour Racers" too  :D

My compliments for overcoming such a feat! 👍
And yes, beer is always a good thing

Well, AE86Driver, it's been about 3 hours since your last post, and I am getting kind of worried here:scared: as you said you only had 2 hours left... I hope you just decided to go to sleep and you finished the "drive of your life" in that race and you are safe/ok/non-hospitalized for insanity :D

I guess we will hear from you tomorrow/later... Sleep, that's the prize you get from racing 24Hours+ straight 👍

I'd like to open this reply with....YATTA ZE!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I HAVE FINALLY DONE SOMETHING THAT VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN EVEN DREEEEAM OF!!!WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! You heard right! I have now OFFICIALLY COMPLETED THE 24 HOUR ENDURANCE RACE! I started at 4:32 P.M. on January 22nd and have just now finished! While taking 5-15 minute breaks every two hours,I suppose that's what made it an extra hour or two, hahahahaha! Not only did I complete the Endurance race, but I did it in ONE..yes you heard right..ONE SITTING! I should be going to bed about now because I've been up for about 40 hours now ! But hey..NO SHORTCUTS! I DID WHAT I SAID I WOULD ! Alright everybody! So ya wanna know the results and everything else inbetween do ya?! Well..here ya go!

In Race Details and statistics
------------------------------------
Car Driven: BNR32 '89 model (734PS,remained that much after race too)

Completed amount of laps: 189
Fastest Lap: 7'17.757
Average Time per lap: 7'25.000
Average Speed: 250+ km/h
Gasoline Gauge average: 52/80
Pit-ins: 89

Cautions: Dozed off from time to time throughout Endurance Race and slammed into multiple guardrails. Spun out about 10 times because of that and actually almost lost the WHOLE race due to it as well :scared:! The R34 in 2nd place by the time the last lap was over,he was only about 12 seconds behind me. Compared to,the 6 to 7 MINUTES I had on him earlier. Wow..falling asleep behind the wheel can get you or your prize money killed :P

I had pit in on lap 38 to refuel my car and change my tyres,when.."oops"...I had accidently pushed X while they were putting more gasoline in my car,so it stopped the guy from putting any more gas in my car,so I had to race through lap 39 with hardly ANY gas at all. When I pulled into the pit during lap 40,my gas gauge had dropped down to just 3 bars..barely above E. When I pit in,the gas gauge read 25/80 before the refuled...whew..also a tip..do NOT bother the pit crew !

Personal Statistics/Survival Menu
-----------------------------------------

Breaks: 10
# of CDs listened to throughout the race (not all of them fully through of course): 28
Mountain Dews drank: 10
Slim Jims eaten (well..more like inhaled o.O): 96! Yes,you heard right,I ate EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM in both boxes of 48. I would eat two every time I would pit,soooo..those were gone rather quickly ._. . I'm probably gonna wake up tomorrow and have heart failure or something @_@. *grumbles* cursed grease...well..anyways..
Facewashes: I'd say about 5,I'm not for certain on that, but I did it a few times, but not a WHOLE lot
Took a hot shower during lap 115 (with the game paused of course, lol) at 9:45 A.M.

Survival tips:
If you begin dozing off, quickly find your bottle of Texas Pete and drink some, hahaha. It's really good for cleaning your systems too o.O..well..if you have a runny nose or something that is ._.
Getting tired of that bland taste of the same drink you've been drinking since like,14 hours ago? Try something new to keep you awake XD! (i.e. Mountain Dew +Sprite+Orange Juice+Coke+Milk with a touch of blue syrup you are supposed to put on those snowcone things o.O..then..bottoms up :sly:)

ah,by the way,I also added about 6,000,close to 7,000 KM on my car's total mileage XD. Er..also...did someone ask me if I knew what A-Spec and B-Spec was? Or if I even HAD the game for that matter? O.O. I know I'm tired and all,but I think someone said that..not for certain though...but either way..of COURSE I know A-Spec and B-Spec are and no..of course I don't have the game -.-'....what have I been playing for the past 24 hours and more?!! A-Spec in my own opinion is the TRUE challenge, rather than in B-Spec,you have I believe,5 choices to tell the AI driving YOUR car. "Go at your own pace!" "Step up the pace!" "Slow down!" etc. *shrugs* I'd rather do the driving -.-'...lol. Oh,and also everybody..the pictures may seem like they were kinda taken "fast" because I didn't exactly get the perfect angle on them, but I hope they turned out good enough to where you can enjoy them ^.^! I had to take a quick snapshot of the trophy and the money cause it already began counting down and giving it to me,so it shows a different amount than what it should be . Well...anyways..I hope you enjoy and please reply back with your AWSOME feedback :P! *bows heavily now* I thank you ALL for your support and luck. It was a wonderful race and I appreciate you all participating as my "virtual fans"! *slumps over to his bed, then collapses to the side of it..COMPLETELY missing it*

P.S. Once again, sorry for blurryness,I just tried to hurry up and take pictures before the screen faded, sorry sorry! *runs off..er..again*

Glad to hear you are ok AE86Driver, I was getting worried :D And glad to hear you made it 👍 My compliments go to you, from Wizard-san
A job well done, my friend! One day I will join the "Club of the 24Hour Racers" too 👍

Hey AE86 - Right on!!

I didn't follow in real time, but read the whole thread. Congrats to you. It must have been exhausting. As far as we know, you are the first to race 24H in one sitting (minus the breaks, of course).

To anyone else who talked about 48H or 72H straight; talk is cheap.

Enjoy that car - you most certainly earned it.

Hey Mods - Can AE86 get some kind of special title or avatar?

toyotaman
BTW, what cars were you racing against(except the R34)?

Check on the previous pages, he discusses pretty much everything you would want to know... from the cars he was racing against, to how many times he had to pit, to how many times they were pitting... etc. etc. ;)

Ya!!! Go AE86!!! You the man!!! I knew you could do it. Hearing you completing those 24 straight hours makes me tired, so I am going to bed and will post a more valid response and questions whenever I wake up. Congratulations again!

Congrats man! Very cool you satb through it!
You used a Dual Shock 2? Or a wheel?
I only have a DS2, so wanna ask if its worth it buying a wheel when GT4 comes?'

Wow! Way to go there AE86Driver!
Can't wait till I join the club (24 hour enduro in A-Spec Mode) with you, though it might be awhile since I won't have my game till March!

I'm with pmeegan in that AI86Driver should get a special avatar or something! With all those replies in this thread by those who said they would never do a 24 hour race in A-spec mode, this is a REAL accomplishment and should be publically recognized! :)

Two 👍 's up to AE86Driver!

Side Note: Can't imagine that finishing the 24 hour race only resulted in 7 A-spec points? That sucks!

It's hard enough driving for 24 straight hours without trying to get an A-Spec score of over 100 or so ...

yeah, i am also wondering, what car you need to race with to get 200 points....
this will be a killer job! imagine, you will have to compete with COM each lap, watching over those valuable seconds....! THIS is something special, i am veeery happy about these a-spec points, they'll add more lifespan to the already huge game!

so, can anybody see, what car do you actually need for 200 points?

Con-Gra-To-Fookin-Lations AE86driver !...

Awesome report ! - And Job well Done 👍 (Should that be Mission Accomplished ?)

Now I wanna try this as well....

Brilliant! Well done AE86 ... and thanks for the details/pics etc. Did I read that right, you won by about 12 seconds? Jeez, that's going to be something of a record that's hard to beat!

You may be able to comment on how realistic you think this is, but here is the 'Mars Plan' for a 24 hour race, which may be completed solo over the space of a weekend (34 hours to be exact)...

Six 4 hour sessions with breaks, starting on a Friday evening:-

Friday

18.00 - 22.00 - Session One
22.00 - 23.00 - Break
23.00 - 03.00 - Session Two

Saturday

03.00 - 09.00 - Sleep Break
09.00 - 13.00 - Session Three
13.00 - 14.00 - Lunch Break
14.00 - 18.00 - Session Four
18.00 - 19.00 - Dinner Break
19.00 - 23.00 - Session Five
23.00 - 00.00 - Break

Sunday

00.00 - 04.00 - Final Session
(04.00 - 08.00 - Overrun time)

That totals 24 hours with 10 hours of breaks (4x 1 hour and 1x 6 hour break)... give or take an hour or two for necessary stoppages within sessions, I think it looks distinctly do-able...
