^thank you gt40 and gillet i caught the gt40 coming out of the hairbin so i had lots of speed going into the 2nd sector. And I drafted the Gillet on the front straight, that car is fast I was behind it until I was around 200mph

I used Lav01's technique here, pitting once and having a crappy lap instead of 2 pit stops, it worked out great.

I just edited my time sheet to reflect the altered total time for the three challenges - something I forgot to do last night.

I just did some sums and I came up with the following, and assuming the following:
On a two stopper
- 1'17.000 first lap
- each flying lap 1'10
- in laps 1'30
- out laps 1'14
which is certainly acheivable, that gives a 12'35 total time.

On a one-stopper
- 1'17.000 first lap
- each flying lap 1'10.5
- in laps 1'35
- out laps 1'15
- final lap 1'17.5
this gives 12'31
- but if you're 10.5's I don't know how acheivable the in-lap and the final lap would be.

I really struggle on the red tyres and just lose a lot of time. I think for me, the one-stopper solution is probably best case scenario as the tyres would be stuffed at the end of lap four on those times, whereas I can probably manage the times in the two-stop scenario pretty comfortably, and not have tyre issues.

Interesting - I guess this is race-craft, huh? It's not a factor in the other two challenges, of course.

I think it is impossible to do a 1:30 pit stop lap, on my two stopper races, my pit in laps are nearly if not better than my previous laps. And the best I have managed so far on pit stop laps is a 1:32 I think. I'll try this race some more later today and I'll pit on lap 2 or 3 to see if a 1:30 pit stop lap is possible.

Yeah, may have been a bit optimistic on that - but I certainly have done 1'30.500 on an in-lap - certainly not possible on a one-stopper!!

I think if I backed off a bit on the last couple of laps on the one-stopper I might be quicker - but that's never going to happen, is it?

:D

I was unaware of the due date extention until just recently. So i a panic I spent the last few hours doing race 1. best race so far is:

1: 1'18.648
2: 1'11.136
3: 1'11.857
4: 1'11.822
5: 1'35.821
6: 1'14.164
7: 1'11.993
8: 1'11.448
9: 1'12.644
10: 1'15.709
total: 12'35.242

I find that consistancy is key. You must be very smooth to conserve tires. there is no point in pushing to get 1'10.000's because the half second to a second that you gain by pushing will cost you three or four seconds on the 4th and 5th lap of each stint.

Dang a 1:30 on an in-lap that's at least 1-2 seconds faster than any of my in-laps. I'll have to try and get close to that in-lap time and attempt to beat my own best total time.

Great time Villeneuve, I'll have to beat you now! Hey who knows maybe I cant take off 2 seconds off my time, but I'll try conserving my tires in order to beat you. Again great time!

Digital as in the D-pad? I use the D-pad I dont have a steering wheel and I hate the analog sticks!

I think what happens is people button off on that last right hander - I alway focus on getting that absolutely right so you've got maximum speed down the hill into the pits for when the auto-drive takes over.

I've got a 1'29.492 as an in-lap on my run I posted - but those tyres were three laps old, not four. The 1'33.7 I did on the four lap old tyres was a shocker, I washed really wide at the hairpin and clipped the wall in the tricky section at the back of the circuit - I could certainly find two and a half seconds if I was sensible (!).

Here's a thing - maybe I'd be better pitting on lap 3, to minimise the in-lap time, and just try to sit it out for a 1'13 on tired tyres - that would save a second or two...

That is actually worth trying, I'll give that ago as well, why not right now, be back in 15.

This is using vat_man's stop on lap 3 technique

Total-12:35.888
Fastest-1:09.765
1-1:17.183
2-1:11.186
3-1:28.606 pit in
4-1:13.191 pit out drafted R390 before hairbin
5-1:10.017
6-1:10.736
7-1:32.414 pit in
8-1:12.497 pit out drafted GT40 on sector 1 and Gillet on front straight
9-1:10.293
10-1:09.765

I got so close to Villeneuve, only 6 tenths off, I'll try later tonite and pit on lap 6 instead of lap 7.

nice times ZC and villn. i am out. my ps2 broke and i had my brothers, but he took it back yesterday. i cant get a new one in 3 days.

hopefully my time in race #1 is good enough to keep me in contention for the rest.

missing gt3 already

I've had a few more attempted runs at this to try and improve my previous best time. Was getting really pi$$ed as I was blowing good laps and crashing way too much on red tires on laps 5 & 10. Tried switching to the 2 pit stopper strategy, but found this just as tough as single stop. Eventually found if you didn't go flat out (100%) but breaked earlier and tried to be smooth your tires lasted a bit longer and laps 5 & 10 weren't so out of control. After re-starting about 5 times managed to string a decent set of laps together with no crashes or major losses of time on corners.

Lap 1 - 1:17.612
Lap 2 - 1:10.009 fastest lap. (real smooth and fast  )
Lap 3 - 1:11.343
Lap 4 - 1:13.219
Lap 5 - 1:34.800 Pit in
Lap 6 - 1:14.054 Pit out
Lap 7 - 1:11.723
Lap 8 - 1:11.588
Lap 9 - 1:12.932
Lap 10 - 1:16.160

Total Race Time: 12:33.440

Great time GVX, on my lastest run(when I pitted on lap 3) I went all out I still havent tried conserveing my tires, since I am not very good at conservation.

It looks like I don't have to tell you the importance of being smooth! nice time! You put in a 1'10. and still had a 1'34 in lap. Everytime i go for a sub 1'11 it hurts my tires too much and i end up having a terrible in lap like 1'38. do you use steering wheel or controler? again great time!

I can't find a 787B in the Arcade Mode's S-Class...

After you've finished arcade mode, it will be the LAST car unlocked. So you pretty much have to run through the game before you can enter this contest.

There was no pit stop for me. Could you tell me what positions are on at the moment? Thanks. Am I doing this right as doing the Mazda and the track listed to see who gets the quickest time out of these races right? I am getting ready for race 2.

How in the world did you keep that thing on the road without a pit stop?

How on earth did you go through without a stop? Did you do the race on professional mode, or hard mode?

ok man 1st of all this is an actual qualifier to gain access into team gtplanet , its not a joke man and i'm not laughing  now i hope that what you have posted is just a wind up and you will be back to tell us it was a joke because if you think anyone is gonna swallow that silly idea about not pitting and still managing laps of 1.14 by lap 7 you are totally way of course , we're not nieve man and it wont wash here , and another thing ! you posted only 9 lap times totalling a combined time of 11.23.422 and yet you state a time of 11.54.262 so if you just forgot to post that flying lap of 30.840 then i totally understand man   anyway better luck next time :P
  :odd: :reallyodd :weird:

Hey mr persistance - I didnt realise that you guys race in arcade mode - It makes sense because all cars are equal - no mods etc... - I have had the game for two ish months now and have not attempted the arcade mode - It will take me a bit to get through to the hard level and complete it so when I do I'll be sure to enter as there will be other championships :D :D :D jw

no problem man ;) but be sure to remember that you only need to do the hard level in arcade mode to complete it forget easy and medium the hard level will fill in all the blanks :D  good luck man and enjoy the sweet cars you will win ;)

Thanks, It took me a long time and many re-starts to string that race together. I had what some people call "a moment of clarity" for laps 2 & 5 in my race. I hadn't intened on getting a 1:10 on lap 2 but I got real lucky on basically every corner without pushing flat out. I was surprised as anyone when that time came up! :D Lap 5 I was still in pretty good shape tirewise and again had a real clean smooth lap! As you can see the rest if the laps 6-10 were nothing special, but having such a good start to the race saw me through. I'm probably not going to try and improve that time of mine!!

Just like to say that the standard of times this far have been extremely good and some of you guys (not tit brain Tibbett) will make welcome additions to the "Offical GTPlanet Race Team!!"

I'm using the standard dual-shock II. Getting better at smooth, slow turning using the analogue steering and controlled acceleration and breaking on the pads.
