GT Sport's FIA Championship Test Season 2 is Underway

Does anybody know how the points system works on these test seasons by chance?

I started 5th and won a race and made 230 points then the next day I started 11th and finished 5th and received 287 points. I looked at the world rankings and somebody was actually getting over 1,000 points a race.

I am confused on how it all works. I was just curious if anybody had an idea.

The Nations Cup track for 11/13 has changed to Brands Hatch Indy with the shifter kart....at least as of last night. We'll see if we end up on the wrong track with mixed cars again.... :ill:

For right now I don't mind the lack of tracks. It's hard enough to get around some of what we have with people still learning them let alone throwing in another half dozen or more. For early going, less is better IMO.

"Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo / Suzuka Circuit" => Yeeeesss, we'll get Rain condition in an update wednesday so we can drive on Suzuka Under the rain like in the trailer of the Honda Sport Vision GT :D:lol:.

Learning at track well enough takes quite a while... I'm cool with the current number of tracks. I hope they're able to spiffy up the penalty system and be clear about how the points work. I don't know of any racing championships out there where you can't figure out the points. Seems kind of weird.

Everyone keeps complaining about the SR but I think it's getting better. I was in DR B, SR A FIA Nations Cup last night and I got bounced around like a beach ball the whole race and I still ended with an SR S and moved back up to SR S. The people that kept running me off track and were total a holes were penalized. I think it's starting to happen.

This is just what I understand after the first season..

I believe it is tied to your DR/SR Rating and then the opponents you face. My DR/SR is B/S currently, and I'm getting paired with the fastest drivers in my region in every race. If I get a mid pack result, I will end up with around 700pts. Getting a 3rd place gifts me around 1200pts.

If I race against slower drivers, or drivers in a lower class bracket, then there are less points awarded for the same position.

So having a higher DR/SR will put you into higher brackets come the Seasonal races, potentially unlocking a higher points cap allowing you to earn more points.

In your situation, you raced against a lower bracket and won, giving you less points as opposed to a worse finish but higher points against a higher bracket of drivers.

I cannot believe the last two days... trained around 15 hrs...

today 6 hrs before mount panorama...

Manage to drive constant in the 2:03 mid...and now... i got matched in D / S ... i was the only A /S 3 B / S and rest D / S

So i was completly frustrated... i wanted to quit... but i thought to myself...no..i will do that..got pole...lost it on the straight up the hill to the OP Viper...
Then it became the race i suspected... every overlapped car was blocking... EVERY!! - lapped car pushed me into the gras..blocked me... and at the end hit me and spun me out... 6 hrs training...for nothing... PD could handle sum bugs with everything..but no they are only retarded...nothing else...

So the last two days: In suzuka I got rammed in the rear... I!! got 10 sec penalty..race over...
In nations: Got Divebombed in corner before finish straight... and got 8 sek penalty... and another 8 sec for avoiding a crash up the hill...

Today: Matched after 6 hrs training as A / S in D / S

(Right now i want to hit everyone in my grid, expect the winner... (gz to your win) into the face...)

..but at the end iam thinking... hey...if i think clearly about it..the only one in this situation who should get punished..is PD

EDIT: If i remember back.. i had the most fun at the nürburg times when the race stayed a week or so... almost nobody was crashing... because everyone was training and was knowing the break points and everything..but now with the 24 hr mode that game went to a ****** version of crash bandicoot..that gran tourismo thing with his penalty system..which is in my opinion one of the worst i ever seen in racing games (even gran prix 3 had a better one) got out of control)

So is there just going to be endless test seasons until the real one starts?

Didn’t have any issues in the first one, but going to pass on this one, doing an hour and a half of races every night when I (and especially my girlfriend) would rather be doing something else got annoying after a while. It’d be nice if some of them allowed tuning and had tire wear once in a while also.

I was hoping these test seasons had some sort of reward like ceding for the real one or something

I completly on your side.. and yeah yeah you are right.. i had also no issues in the first season..but the second season is horrible... i got only rammed and pused and spun out and..at the end the tip of the iceberg which makes me horribly angry, is that i got matched to a grid today with only 3 or 4 B/S and the rest was D/S... for an official fia race...thats really showing how bad the things are at gts

calm doooown ^^

Had the same happing before, surely a glitch!

Start of Season 2 was very rough and full of frustration for me, too... Sometimes ist a love/hate think: Good and strong races with good fight feel soooo good, never had such fun and good races in professional Forza Races...

But on other races, when Things get crazy, because of my or other People error.... I can only ragequit and yelling...

PD/GTSport - What are you doing with my Feelings??!?!

PS: Really looking forward for the Endurance Races they promised... i think they will stay longer :)
PPS: Have to do the Barthurst race - very unconstant times from me - expect a crashfest as in GR4 last Session ^^

Had the same thing happen to me. My fastest practice lap at Suzuka was within 1.1 seconds of the fastest time in the Americas, which is by far the closest I've been. I was pumped to have a chance at a good run versus other A/S drivers like myself.

What do I get?

Matched with D/S and C/S drivers

I get pole by over 2 seconds and win by 30 seconds. Easily the least satisfying win I've had yet. Unfair not just to me, but also the C and D drivers in the race.

And to top it all off I got just 400 points, setting me in another hole.

PD needs to ditch matching drivers by safety rating first in the FIA events and start matching by practice speed. It's the fairest way to do it.

Yea the matchmaking should have that priority...: Sportsmannrating - Driverrating - practice time

so u can be sure that if u are in top 10 in the leaderboard u will get matched with these guys if they joined the race

I still think there should be separate championships grouped by ( in this order)

DR > SR > average lap times in practice.

DR groupings of S-A, B-C, and D-E.

You probably shouldn’t even be allowed to enter the FIA events if you can’t maintain SR/S-A.

I can understand that to a point. Both of my races I was the lower end of the bracket( I am a C-S driver). Everybody in my room was equal to me with a few B-S and A-S drivers in there.

But to that point, if you are getting points based on the level of competition then that is not very fair for an A-S driver to be racing with me at the C-S level because they will run away with it, get little points and I will be defeated with a tiny bit more points than normal. I guess this is why they are doing these test seasons. Because it seems a little off for now.

Also, as much as other people would hate this idea, I would rather have standing starts. Rolling starts sometimes start you so spread out or around multiple turns that the only racing you do is with the small group around you. I know standing starts cause big issues for first corners but it would be a great way to find your clean drivers also. To add, they need to get rid of ghosting and car resetting all together. Ghosting cars never work when they should.

Someone in front me spun out on a curve, went sideways in the middle of the road, I hit him since I was just behind him and I got 10sec penalty lol Literally nothing I could do.

10 second penalties are damn annoying when it wasn't your fault. Been rammed from behind by people outbreaking themselves too many times now only for me to receive the penalty. :irked:

The points system really needs work and explanation. From what we can gather you are matched based on SR rating while points are given based on the relative difficulty of the opponents you are racing based on DR rating.

Overall ive done 55 races online with 12 poles, 12 fastest laps and 14 wins. I would be fairly confident to say I was top 4 in 90% of the races.

I don’t play every day so normally only do 4-5 days per week and a couple of other daily races which means I have limited gaming time and don’t want to be sacrificing that time having to drive at 80% to build up my SR rating to get matched with S ranks.

Season 1

Had a B/B rating & raced in 4 races

Race 1 – 3rd for 460 points

Race 2 – 4th for 380 points

Race 3 – Won for 440 points

Race 4 – 5th for 260 points

In every race I qualified in the top 6 and in 3 I got the fastest lap. I was ultra-competitive, im consistently only 2-3 tenths outside the top 10 fastest practice times. Always seemed to make a few small mistakes that meant I couldn’t get more wins.

Season 2

Race 1 (Indy Kart) – Pole by almost a second, FL & Win by 8 seconds. Got 222 points.
I checked the guys who finished 2nd to 5th and they all got more points than me which means they are ranked higher in the rankings eventhough I was clearly a better, faster driver.

How can you get a true ranking system if some people have less chance to score points vs others?
IMO the only true way to separate people would be to

Matching

Similar to the idea of the DR system, but using it to match rather than SR which is resulting in low bracket racers being matched with faster racers.

Day 1 – Randomly (Could be done on SR & DR rating to provide so sensibility to it)

Day 2 to 7 – Broken into 20% brackets and matched only with people in your brackets. Brackets would depend on numbers of players.

Points

  • Set points for each Qualifying Position

  • Set points for each Finishing Position

  • Small bonus for Fastest Lap

  • Small bonus for Clean Race

  • Point scaling depending on the bracket you are racing in meaning people who are in the bottom bracket won’t score as much as the top bracket

  • Brackets wouldn’t be based on points, but rather your results and which bracket each result was in.

  • The following season you start in the bracket you finished the last season.

  • The only limitation to this is if there is not enough players competing to fill lobbies.
This would mean that you are consistently racing against people slightly above, slightly below or at your level. If you are against people slightly above your level and get beaten the day after you would drop into the bracket below and race people who have had a similar trajectory, were competitive in bracket 2 or who performed well on in bracket 3. You would never got from being a A racer and in a lobby with E racers.

So if I finished 3rd on day 1 and then on day 2 when facing other top 4 finishers I finish 13th, I would then on day 3 face people who either struggled on day 2 in the top bracket, performed competitively without winning in the second bracket or performed strongly in the 3rd bracket.

Over the course of the 7 days this would allow people to continuously move around the brackets and playing people at their level. consistency be against people near their level whilst ranking them correctly.

I probably should just keep my mouth quiet since I haven’t participated in a single Sport race let alone the championships, but the whole thing sounds like an utterly stressful nightmare. I participated in the original beta test last Spring and had a feeling things would turn out the way people are describing; those that qualify well and run off into the distance that claim it’s the best racing ever, and the rest of people that are destined to be mid to back of the pack who are continually bumped around like a pinball. Admittedly I had some good races during the test, but most were crashfests.

We had both standing starts and rolling starts in the beta test. Standing starts resulted in a cluster in the first turn of nearly every race *if* you were lucky to even get off the grid without getting plowed into from behind by a faster spec car. If you were lucky to avoid the carnage you were fortunate. But rolling starts weren’t much better. Try starting 8th-12th in the middle of a turn (think Nordschleife). Terrible. Before you even reached the first corner to the paddock straight you were plowed into by everyone behind that had a running start while you were trying to negotiate a turn. I saw a video of a start at the full Suzuka Circuit and what chance do you have starting in the middle of the final chicane?

Finally, the ‘S’ Sportsmanship rating is meaningless. It’s way too easy to get. It should be nearly as difficult to obtain as an ‘S’ Driver rating and should be harder to maintain. What I learned was to just sandbag and stay in the back and away from others in hopes to elevate my Sportsmanship rating, but in the long run what did it give me? Races filled with MUCH faster drivers with S ratings which resulted in constantly finishing mid to rear of the pack. Not fun in the long run. So, which of the lesser of two evils is better? Getting bumped around and hoping everyone crashes out or gets penalized, or always finishing 10th? Neither.

I spent a couple of hours learning Mount Panorama for the Gr.3 race, after a struggle qualifying lap with numpties on the track I should've known it was going to be a disaster, placed 9th and after the first lap moved upto 7th with the front pack and a +2 second gap behind, entered into the first chicanes and the driver behind has flew into the chicanes across the open middle part and smacked into me as I was turning right (right, left, right) and span my car sideways in the chicane where I had to do a 3 point manoeuvre just to straighten up, I continued now in 17th place and at the last corner of the lap turning left our Spanish friend is flying down the inside of the car behind and hits me literally t-boned me whilst I'm on the apex, ridiculous move, Quit.

My worst day ever as I have a ritual when playing a new track, I learn the track in circuit experience with a gold and get a new car and also get another car for the daily workout at same time, then practise and get used to my Gr.3 car which I never drove before whilst looking forward to the main race then the above happens race over before it started. It's a good job it's 3 out of 7 and tomorrow is another day.

I don t know if somebody already say this but as we know , driving inputs with the kart are almost impossible to perform , at least for me, it was a nightmare till i turn the counter steer assit ON. Now it s a ral pleasure to drive this machine. Very good !

It always felt like with the karts the steering ratio was 100:1. For every degree I turn it, the game turns it 100 degrees. I'll give it a try with the countersteering on though, I'm stoked to hear it makes it drivable.

I cant drive Karts on the dualshock and i refuse to use assists so yeah, i had to drop todays race, my first one.

The mount panorama race i got traffic on qualifying, didnt get a good lap, qualified 8th.

Was recovering a bit, a good fight with GTP_Pokey, and as soon i was going for the 5th place on lap 7, a major lag spike from the guy behing me completely destroyed my race. It was like he hit my rear at 500 kph.

Ended up in 8th after that.
