Person A. "What motor do you use these days?"

Person B. "A Knobbly."

Person A walks away.

Now let's be fair here, it's just a concept name. It has to be attention grabbing in some way or another. I'm sure that if they ever built this it would have a more dignified label.

Lister Bunnyhugs And Ballyhoo, for example.

A number of these Lister-Jags were raced in the US in the late 50's/early 60's, initially with great success. A few later switched to Chevy V-8 engines.

Jim Hall's Chaparral 1 (built by Troutman & Barnes in Los Angeles) looked very similar.

Race car? So it is not road legal?
I'm not aware that the revisited Knobbly has been so defined, but the car by which it's inspired was indeed a race car that may or may not have been permitted for road use in a time when countless sports racers blurred that particular line.

I misinterpreted the title of the article.

I thought that may be the case and withheld addressing that, but I thought it worth noting that "race car" doesn't explicitly mean "not road legal".

:)

As long as it has lights and registered it's pretty much OK for road use in the UK. Heck, motorbikes and possibly cars can get a daytime only MoT I believe, for running without headlights.
