Nice "tight" starting grid!

Oh hey, it's me!

I left last night's races so frustrated. Plugged my wheel in for the first time in about a year just for this event, only to be repeatedly knocked off the track at turn one. Made plenty of amateur mistakes too, of course, going to take some getting used to non-stick controls again; span out about four times braking on the way into the final hairpin.

Last night was a bust, after 6 tries I ended up in a room that kept restarting the time. I exited it and could never get into another. Tonight I did get a half dozen races in, ran a 4:03.3xx with my Elise 111R. Quite a bit of rough driving and glitching....seems about normal for sub-par drivers and PD for now.

request...

Sure. Stand by, I'll edit this when I dig it out.

Edit: Here you go: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tune...op-1800sss-79-tune-for-450pp-challenges.1584/

Edit2: Pics! This colour is (Audi quattro '82) Gobi Beige Metallic. I think.

I've just tried to race in the Le Mans Prototype battle on quick match - what a bunch of douchebags. You should have to graduate, like race five times in a row on the 450PP challenge without actually hitting anything, before you can race in it. Yeesh.

That should be true for all the races on all the tracks. I get a laugh out of the driver matching. If that were true I would only be on track with people that don't use others for their brakes or can follow you through a corner without bouncing off your bumper. Most of the people I have raced against have no business being on the track at the same time as myself and my new friends.
Do you guys mind saying what your default view is and do you have proximity (or what ever it's called) turned on? I use bumper cam with the warnings for cars in proximity on and drivers names and flags on.

I use the same as you, side markers on. For some cars I use roof cam. When I'm feeling immersive, I use cabin view with Premium cars.

I was having a blast on here today. I was using my RX-7 bathurst R and was beating a lot of cars with it including some gsxr drivers. My best race so far has been a low 4:18 and a 1:22.7 lap being the best one I noticed. Quick match is fun with closely matched cars and your own tune so you feel both comfortable and confident with the car you are driving.

Tried Venari's Setup, nice car, fast and brakes hard but slow in the corners..

But, then i thought - those little bastards in their GSX-R is low, fast and quick - what else resembles the shape = a Lancia Stratos..

With some tunes mixed from Venari as a starting point i went to race a total time of 04.09.980 with ofc a couple of GSX-R in the front, but damn thats fast..

EDIT: My tune is up and running:

Another hidden gem has been found, and it's just as fast - Autobacs Garuiya 02'

Transformed into 450pp by weight and power - no suspension or transmission tuning yet, though lsd and racing brakes in on.. managed to do a 1.19.627 - It's fast, smooth and the tail is steady, no action even in 2nd gear at 70-80 km/h hard left.

Will report back when i have tuned it a bit more..

"You have been disconnected due to controller inactivity"

 Yeah,waiting for PD's servers...

I don't usually race online in any format, but have been running this for a day or two,and what a great learning experience, not in terms of racing per se,but car control avoiding the bashing, diving numpties(read Gixxer ddrivers)and generally sitting behind matching speed, staying on line as much as possible while waiting for a mistake or chance to overtake,as i'm not fussed about winning, this has made for some fun (on the whole)driving.
One thing that did brighten my day though was I was shunted off in the first tunnel and at the end of the race I got a message saying sorry-if you're reading this MOOMMX-cheers  Seems theres a few considerate drivers outthere...

I had one frustrating try a week ago that after being banged into a spin between turns 2 and 3 (I was in 3rd, done by 2nd on the first lap) I quit in frustration. I tried again on Sunday and had the timer keep resetting (race starts in 3,2,1,240,239) and had the same experience as pogledrip. Gotta admit, that sparked some salty language.

Then I shut off my torrents and tried again and had a good run of about 15 heats in the same room with some fast Swiss, German and Canadian drivers. Even added a fast Swiss to my friends' list.

I confess to being a GSX-R/4 driver, but in my defense, I'm also a SixAxis user. I drive a tune slightly modified for power and weight from here at GTPlanet, but there's something I'm not getting still. There were 2-3 other GSX's in the field that I would be leading from the hairpin and would just get eaten on the straight and also they could overtake me from the starting line. I'm not really sure what I'm missing. My best lap is a 1:17.8 or so, but that was with drafting, leading my best lap is about a 1:18.6. A 3:59 is possible, the Swiss I added nailed that from the lead (so no draft) and I did save that race.

If anyone is willing to help, please reply and I'll post my tune and see if we can figure out where that extra speed is coming from. I'm a bit concerned that it is simply turning off all traction control and having wheel+pedal, which means sixaxis just doesn't have a chance.

That said, we had some great heats that were a lot of fun, even if I had to move aside for faster tunes and finish between 3-5. Once people realized that I wasn't going to bash them, we had some very very close racing.

There were also some great drivers with competitive rides that were not GSXs. The Dino and the Elise 111R were raced to very good effect in a number of the heats. The Elise 111R was another car that could overtake me on the straights (just barely, made the 1st corner a beast as the racing line really isn't 2 cars wide).

Ay up @radix023 I was probably being a bit harsh on gixxer drivers,as other cars are just as bad,its just there seems to be more of them.
I don't think its the fact of using a controller vs a wheel thats the main issue,it seems from what i've seen its the complete lack of awareness and respect for other drivers,I drive a Lotus 111R(cracking little car)with no aids and tcs and abs both set at 0,which means I can't just divebomb and slam my brakes on at the last minute-I have to actually drive, slow down, stay on line and pick my braking points and I manage not to rear end people, although i've spent enough time getting slammed into the barriers myself because the driver behind won't slow down, but then i'm not for winning at any cost. All told,as has been said before its just a demolition derby for those who can't or won't drive fairly, but it can still be fun,and crash avoidance is a useful skill to have.
As you said though there are some clean racers outthere, but unfortunately they're few and far between...
Oh and check out Prianos tunes,I think theres one in there for your GSX,just scroll down a tad...

Hopefully see you on track sometime

No offense taken bud, I was just pointing out that most people are not as fast as you, so in order for the average racer to run below 4:00 in the QM they have to use the suzuki... And maybe a little jealous that you're that fast :D (Must be nice to be able to pick any car out of ur garage and spank those gixers)

As far as using the Suzuki it's not my thing... I like to use cars that I enjoy in real life, makes it more fun for me.

Im just average fast so I don't expect to win a lot of races, as long as I can have some good battles and sneak a win here and there with a car I like I'm happy as a clam :)

I can relate. My preference is to run cars with minimal to no mods. A bit of a power boost when appropriate, but everything else stock. Don't win much, but get some decent credits for the effort. There is a personal sense of accomplishment when you advance your position with using no assists and mostly stock cars.

"You have been disconnected due to controller inactivity"

Yeah,waiting for PD's servers..

That feature has been around for a while. I believe it times out between 2 & 3 minutes. I've developed a routine of activating a button every so often to avoid getting kicked. I use the left & right arrows.

@SCClockDr Thanks for that, hadn't seen it before, but it happened again awhile back-this time while I was sitting on the grid of all places, thought I might have had a problem with my wheel,so its a relief its on PD's end not mine.
As for QM,its whetted my appetite somewhat for online racing, but after the session i've just had I don't think i'll be going back in a hurry, what with disconnections,REALLY,REALLY poor driving and feeling myself starting to pick up bad habits,it may be time to look for an alternative.
Snail Racing looks interesting(racing 'stock' only cars),but its USA based and i'm in the UK,so could anyone suggest some races where a beginner to online racing would be welcome ?
I'm not the worlds fastest, but I do my best to race clean-any suggestions gratefully received.
Anyways back on topic.
Cheers...

@radix023 , have you tried adding ballast so you can add power and stay at 450pp? I use 200lbs of ballast usually. I also use close ratio flipped gearbox settings, with a tall first and second and closely stacked 3rd to 6th. It is set to leave a few rpm for drafting when able, but I use almost the whole tach on the straight even without drafting. Also TCS 0 and ABS 1.

I have a rear wing, but it's set to the minimum DF of 5.

I'll Help if I can, there are a lot of guys with good info that could also chime in. :)

Here goes:

Spring Rate 4.99 6.94
Dampers (C) 3 5
Dampers (E) 4 6
Anti-Roll Bars 5 4
Camber 0 0
Toe -0.11 0.13

Brake:
6 4

Transmission:
143 Max
1 4.66
2 3.297
3 2.478
4 1.947
5 1.599
6 1.372

Final 5

Drivetrain:
10
14
10

Power Limiter:
59.9%

Body:
20 downforce rear
190kg ballast, 0 position

I have a custom wing on it:
C F J Height -20, Width +16

With no draft, this will redline on the straight on midfield, with a draft, you will bounce the rev limiter once.

Mr P's tune for the GSXR (188bhp and 840kg) has got me down to high 3:56s (56.7, DS3 and auto) but the gears need a bit of fine tuning for Mid Field. I've set a shortish 1st and 2nd for quicker starts but I'm rubbish at setting the rest of the gears. A work in progress but I'm usually 1 step forward and 2 steps back trying to get it right.

To be honest with you though, I'm sick to the back teeth of the gixxer. Great for keeping out of trouble dodging the vehicular missiles in the corners but if you do sub 4 minute times every race, it gets dull very very quickly. I only pick it out of anger when I'm fed up of being bounced off the track by them coming through, but 3 or 4 races in, I get bored and quit.

I've seen a few people getting 3:54s who're great for racing against but it's funny how quickly they can clear a room. They really sort the men from the boys...or girls from the women, to quickly avoid being sexist.:P

I've cracked 4 minutes with the RX500 a few times (still working on the gears in that too) and I'm close with the 111R (need to find a 3/10ths) but I've seen the GT86 Concept crack 4 minutes as well.

I'm not using any more cars that run 1:19s and slower again though. Good pack racers are few and far between in this quick match and that's a real shame as there's quite a good field of cars capable of 19-20s. To be expected with quick match I suppose.

I was running this again earlier just to build up some quick cash. I have my NSX type S zero set up to run 1:20.7xx with total times in the 4:12s. Definitely quick enough to beat most non gixxers in the rooms I got. Only one non-gixxer (a 111R) was able to beat me in the hour I was racing. Ended up in a couple rooms with multiple non gixxer cars and it was pretty fun. Didn't encounter too much douchebaggery either. Most of the folks kept it clean. I now have enough money to buy myself a P400 Bertone Lambo which was my goal. I only want one because they really seem to kill in the time trials.

I haven't heard that called Snail Racing, but I have been doing that since GT5. Two of my brothers and (at different times) three friends have been in for Sunday night racing. We use the favorites list to mark the cars to race each other with. We start stock and do not tune (mostly because we're not good at it and/or don't have the time). In GT5, I could kick-start this because we could give away a car a day to build up the garage, in GT6, you pretty much have to have been with us from the start or have lots of $$$. Skype is our voice conference while racing.

Administrative issues are all run majority vote: add or remove a car from the garage, change tires on a car (the Ferrari FXX was quickly converted to racing tires) etc etc.

We take turns choosing a track and a car, and you can change options for the race like boost, damage, etc. We normally run no boost, real draft, real edge of track traction, low damage and penalties (ghosting keeps the guy screwing up from bashing you). When the clubs came out, we checked it and it does seem to expedite the room setup process so we do use that. Oh, and each of us has a racing color: black, white, yellow and british racing green.

I'm open to having some other folks join, but it's a group vote and we've had only one person from my friends list join (pre-club when you just had to be on my friends list to join) and that didn't work out. We race Sunday nights 8-10 EST.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were other GT6 racers doing the same thing or something like it.

You could try the Ridox Replica Garage Fan Club they race on Saturdays at 1pm BST. All clean drivers who follow the GTPlanet OnLine Racing (OLR) Rules & Guidelines

@radix023 Snail racing :lol:
Sorry I meant these guys...

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...ition-for-all-skill-levels-spots-open.235094/

Apologies for causing any confusion there, seems a good league,as does your club, but both run at around 3 AM here in the UK,a tad too late for me though.
Cheers for the heads up @RMan72 but having had a quick look over at the thread, those guys are way out of my league, although I like the look of the Cappuccino Club(just had a quick glance at the first page) in your signature-is it still active ?

Unfortunately real life things have got in the way of that club and the mini one.
Don't dismiss the Ridox one, there are different levels of drivers there and we are all willing to help each other out

Pity that,as I went and bought a Cappuccino,I can see it'd be a fun little car to race, still might chuck it in unexpectedly to some event or other...
As for the Ridox club,I only had a quick glance at the first page and saw some of the names listed, including one who posted a vid awhile back of him winning a race driving backwards using a DS3 :boggled:
Might be worth going back to have another look.

All those bad and/or unethical drivers on a closed and narrow street circuit...

Red Bull Ring with people running wide for extra speed, De Sarthe's chicane cutters and historic's with boost set to on. Cool choice.

Looks like I'll be taking a break for a bit.:(

@kilesa4568 Yup,know exactly where you're coming from, this was my first real bash at any kind of online racing, and despite all the grief I was actually enjoying it, won a few races, and didn't even mind getting battered and ending up at the back, itwas fun to see how many I could overtake cleanly-oh well...

Had a look at the new Tokyo QM-its the reverse configuration just to make it that bit more interesting :banghead:

Awesome, let's put dozens.of tracks in the game, but only use 3-4 for any kind of online racing challenge. That's what I call originality.
