"Clean pass of diablo"

I let off the gas thinking I could cut inside at the exit on Cujo only to see you flying past me into him. Obviously we didnt hit and I had no idea you were that close otherwise I would have protected the inside, but that pass was luck for you that the brake zone was missed by Cujo. Had I thought you'd be willing to plow through him...I'd have covered the line. No doubt your car was better equipped to handle last night as well, so I'm discouraged by the pass there as I'm only letting off to ensure I dont affect Cujos entrance. The brake zone was missed and had you not rammed into him I'd have gone under you unless you intended to pull an e-brake save.

Again...not clean imo. Anytime your turn-in hinges on hitting another car, I call supesct. He missed the brake zone and you draft smash him. I notice he's going to miss it, let off but and you capitalize on the op. barrelling into him then continuing on your way.

Just read...made sure not to benefit. I stayed clear of hitting him..unlike you and you passed me = BENEFIT. I could have done the same thing you did and hit him but I move outside and you do it. Your "accident" could have been avoided by taking the line I did. The only one not benefitting was me. I have never rammed someone like that, accident or not, because I take precaution when there are FOUR cars heading into a corner together.

Just saw you added the driving line graphic.

I'm not sure your graphic is an accurate representation of my line. I didn't lean on you in anyway...but I can see how the slightest amount of lag may have made it appear that way. I also didn't push you out on exit.

Here's my graphic...

LagunaTurn1.jpg

Yellow is where we made contact.

Purple is the line I actually ran. It is slightly different from my typical line in that I did not use nearly the amount of track midway through the turn and I didn't track out on exit (I left you about 1 to 1.5 car widths). Both of these items were the reason you were able to catch back up to me on the next turn. Had I pushed hard through the turn and leaned on you, I would have been long gone.

Solid red is the line I think you were intending to run (didn't know that at the time though). We both have the same exit strategy and that is why we colided half-way through the turn.

Dotted red is the line you ended up running in my video after I "stole" your line. I'm not sure why you ended up going so wide. A little less throttle and you would have been able to keep pace with me through the exit of the turn.

I think your style is "very late turn in". It works fine for putting down laps by yourself but you've got to protect the inside of the track when someone is behind you and make your line deliberate. Your line looks like you missed the brake zone and are going to fly wide. People do it all the time and I generally don't wait for them to regain grip and turn back in. Adjust your line for defensive driving and I would have been forced to brake hard into the turn and wait for the exit to pass.

my lancia was a mess, on laguna was good on turns but my lack of speed in straight makes me very slow on tsukuba. i have tried a 10 - 90 balance and on eiger was really fun to drive

I hit the brakes at the same spot I always do, actually earlier. It looks like I brake at the 2nd marker on the lap where I hit Cujo. I was already passed you at that point. On the next lap I get the same draft and I brake between the 2nd marker and the one that someone knocked down. Anyway, Cujo didn't miss the brake zone, I punted him causing him to go wide. I misjudged when he was going to brake.

Video from Deep Forest. I ran a 1:24.7 during warm-up but that was with going over the concrete. Everyone's fastest lap times are displayed at the end of the video. I never went more than 2 wheels over the concrete during the race and I never got a draft so my best time during the race was 4 10ths off BTK and Nic. But I also wasn't pushing the car to the limit for half of those laps.

Just to be clear. It wasnt a pass, but rahter me avoiding a potential accident which you didnt. You followed Cujo and pushed him. It could have been avoided. This fact is irrefutable. Just watch my car as it moves aside and out of the way. if I would have broke normally, I would have hit Cujo just as you did. What other reason would I have for moving off the preferred line just before the corner entrance. I'm decent enough to know when an accident is about to occur and you nearly caused it. I'd hate to see how the room degrades if this type of "accident" is okay'd as long as no one benefits. By that logic I can push anyone off a line and wait for them to come back on and do it again. No one is benefitting. I just didnt expect you to use 'clean' in the same sentence describing a moment when your car hits another from behind. We are reading different versions of the dictionary on that one.

Regarding Deep Forest...a great battle between Nic, BTK and I for many laps till I'm pushed out. The video is freezing on my work PC 3:17 in and up to this point I've only seen in car Chulyer view. Am I going to see any of the three of us running together for 5 laps? If I can figure out how to upload...I'd love to show my vantage point of Bowtie's car bouncing back and forth.

I dropped a knee in reverence Bowtie. Is it me or is the basking in excellence a bit old?

Quite. I told you before though, I really didn't know I was lagging, if I hadn't been I think we could have just pushed each other forward to catch Chuyler. Oh well. I'm sorry for robbing you a good battle with Nic.

Any news on the canadiens pick for next week? I'm going to take a guess of an MX-5 since Osprey and him have them lined out. Probably be at Nurb too.

I wasnt basking in your excellence. :)
As to the car...hopefully he pics premium model. I dont feel the need to look for a 1970s Nissan GT-R.

PM sent

Nic hasn't responded to my PM. I told him it must be a premium car and he should pick a track that offers passing opportunities. For example, if he picked Eiger, the winner would likely be decided on the first 2 turns as it is virtually impossible to pass someone who knows the proper racing line and doesn't make mistakes.

By the way, we're a pretty tight group on each other's friends lists. If anyone has a SOLID black race helmet or suit. I would definitely offer something. And yes I know this isn't the marketplace.

Diablo,

Yes my punt could have been avoided by me braking earlier...absolutely...but I still would have been door to door with you before the braking point, and certainly before turn in. I don't make it a point to ram other cars. Off hand, that's probably the hardest I've hit someone in a long time and it was completely unexpected due to a combination of miscalculations on my part....which is why I slowed down considerably to make sure he made it back on the track.

And as far as you not getting any benefit, I seem to remember a lap earlier where Booch's revenge allowed you to squeeze by me as I was pushed into the dirt.

With the amount of discussion going on in here I think you guys could write a research paper on whatever is proper racing etiquette.

Fixed. Not directed at any one person.

Are you introducing new evidence in a closing arguement. Jury...strike that from the record. I didnt make the statement on benefit. The burden of proof is on your end. I'm merely commentating.

Actually, yes, correction. watched the video again. It was Cujo who got past. You passed me after I hit Booch on turn 5 in retaliation for the retaliation.

But closing argument is "watch your rearview mirror and protect the inside line at all costs".

Alright ladies, settle down, settle down. If you wanna talk about whose got the better driving "etiquette" you can show it on the racetrack. Jeez, never did I think that you could bench race on a video game. Nice job Kaz! :tup;

I think leadbedr might host, but I'm not trying too volunteer him.

Had I protected the inside line...you'd have punted me rather than Cujo. And in any case, the person in front shouldnt have to worry about protecting any line according to the OLR because they have a right to whichever they want.

PS: I spent my lunch watching vids of people crashing their R/C Aeroplanes. I highly encourage others to partake. Grown men weeping over their year long in the making 4 zeros deep project burning in ruin. Very Funny

Unfortunately you stayed in Nics view for the glitch hit of me by Bowtie and then as soon as it happens you immediately jump to bowtie's view. Was this purposeful? Can you show the accident from the viewpoint of one of the cars in it. This decided who picks for next week. From the vantage point, you have to look in the Nic's rearview mirror at 8:36 you will see Bowtie's car appear to jump directly in front of mine then back on the other side of the track in less than a second. Looking at the previous 30 seconds of the vid. he was a bit helter skelter, so I thought I'd go around him. nex thing I know my car is in the wall. It was bizarre. We had all kinds of problems braking after the back stretch and into and out of the tunnel with him being a bit helter skelter.

Glad its confirmed on here. I'm sure it was lag as cars cannot be controlled to appear at different points on the track without seeing them get there, but for about 30 seconds on lap 6 ( I thought it was 7) leading up to my off he was unfortunately all over :(

I don't think I'm going to watch the entire replay again. Its pretty clear from the footage I did get that Bowtie was lagging badly. I think he mentioned running bittorrent on his network after the race, unless that was someone else.

I'd really like to see some other people post a video or two so I can see what my driving looks like on the other side of the network.

Joined in a few races tonight. I was reminded why I race with you guys. Pubbers just have no respect. Punting, using other cars to turn, and weaving back and forth down the straight. No thanks.
