Well,
I posted one of these a while back, and generally I'd still go with all those cars, but if you asked me
right now for a semi-realistic, usable 5-car garage, I'd probably go with the following, since I've been hankering after all of them lately:
Mazda MX5 Coupe - Near as damn-it my favourite car of the now. Brilliant in most quantifiable ways with the added bonus of being UK weather-proof. Would be more than happy if it was done-up in the retro-styled way in the pic too.
Chevrolet C10 - Don't ask why this is in here. I just saw a picture of one in a magazine, and now I want one. Preferably V8, preferably auto trans, and preferably a bit beaten and sun-scorched. Though again, a bright orange one like in the pic would do me fine.
Smart ForTwo Cdi - Yes, a diesel smart car. I've driven one (the one in the pic, actually), and I enjoyed it. Characterful, ridiculously economical, and makes even short journeys adventures. It's just fun, yet doesn't need lots of speed to make it that way.
Daihatsu Terios - A winter car. Doesn't need to be fast, does need good traction, reliability and practicality, yet cheap to run. I'd have mine on good tyres with a slight lift and it'd handle anything the UK could chuck at it.
BMW E30 >320i - The symbol implying that I'd want any of the six cylinder versions, from the 320i upwards. The best looking 3er, and one of the most fun, with one of the all time classic engines.
