I may be wrong, but wouldn't they just be driving on regular roads getting to another part of the area where the next stage is held?

Really? I'll admit I don't follow rallying (very hard in the US), but from all the videos I had watched, I'd never seen them encounter any kind of traffic. Then again, the videos I have watched usually show the cars in forests or in the deserts.

If you watch the video of Makinen I rather handily placed in the forum above you'll see him on the roads, along with other traffic and indeed a motorcycle-mounted bobby.

The cars use regular roads and have to share them with regular traffic. It was much more obvious in the 90s and earlier when whole rallies weren't run in a tiny little corner of a country (step forward Wales Rally GB, pathetic replacement of the RAC Rally that used to go around the whole country and didn't charge a fortune to watch...). Cars would use the motorways, town centres, country roads - basically, any public road - to get between stages.

I can't find any examples on youtube but I know there have been traffic accidents involving rally cars whilst they've been out on the roads, and there have certainly been run-ins with the police (step forward Wales Rally GB again, who gave a bunch of drivers speeding tickets a few years back).

Hmm...I could have several choices, but for the best, it'd have to be this:

Chevy Camaro Z28 302 - for pure power

Vauxhall VXR8 - for pure sportiness

That's what I love about rallying. Finnish at all costs.

Driving a rally car past trees and concrete walls is one thing, doing it with 3 wheels is just an extra complication.

Hanging out the window to help balance the car is just epic.

I tried one of these a while back, and found it so hard to narrow it down to five! EDIT: (and after looking through everybody else's choices, the decission has become much more difficult too..) Hopefully its not too predictable, but I try to get a car for every occasion. It changes all the time, but here are today's five...

Modern Hypercar: Pagani Zonda F Roadster. The noise alone would make me want this, but then I love evrything else about it too!

Classics: Ferrari F40 and 250 GTO, I'm not too sure i need to justify myself here..

A bit of Luxury: Bentley Arnage T, my favourite Bentley, and my favourite luxury car. Just beats the Maserati QP and the updated 2009 Range Rover V8.

Daily Driver: Focus RS, practical, well equipped, and a total weapon too
