Using the 99 Impreza Rally Car, it's only about 545pp,
I have half a second to find in the lap for a gold time, it's in there as there's at least 3 places I'm losing time.
But it's a hell of a lot of fun sliding this thing around the hairpin and through the last few corners.

Down with the 2J and 030 Crowd

If I worked at PD, I would take note of the few cars that always win the seasonal TT s and structure the rules around them.

Every time a new seasonal comes out its TS 030 this and 2J that and 2X this and ZZ-II that. You can throw in the GSXR into that group as well. I am getting tired of it pretty much only being the goto cars on the podium. Set it up so that it forces a variety of choices, not just the same rehashed ringers.

If you somehow made it so the top 5 cars in most situations couldn't be used, you would only find them replaced with another top 5 you would see over and over again, lol.
I understand your frustration, because the Toyota 7, and the 2j look like a painted cardboard box, and I feel stupid driving them. And as far as streamlined race cars go, I really dislike the huge round canopy the TS030 and cars like it have. I like the smaller canopy ones like the Pescarolo's or the V12 LMR.
My favorite look for that caliber of race car is the Mazda LM55, smooth streamlined evil looking goodness.
Just do what I do. To hell with the leader boards. You don't have to beat the gold by 20 seconds, just .001 seconds, lol. Use whatever you love, make it work.
I used my Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 for this race. I had trouble at first, and I did grab the ts030 just to grab my gold money, but I kept at it and golded with my Cobra. No money in it anymore, but the satisfaction was worth triple the prize money anyway.

You can get away with a little bit of armco rubbing... I'm surprised... like sometimes I swear I would have got dirty when I understeered but it let you go. Maybe the 2J fan cleans up marks.

You can take liberties at the chicane too, surprising really.

Easy enough gold with a stock + oil change GT300 Lexus. I do hate Monaco, always have, although I think part of that may have been doing a bunch of 78 lap races there to 100% GT3.

Some areas of the curbs are more sensitive then others. Like the first turn after the start, you even breathe on that wall and its over. Any spot coming off a higher speed straight will be that way. But the less obvious ones I have even bumped off without a flag.

I dislike Monaco as well but this 'fat PD version' is da bes version.

This track needs a car that can turn, I dont even mind if it oversteers a bit as that's correctible. Understeer? That's tough.

Pretty much my favourite circuit. Although placing well on the leaderboarss is fun making it an actual challenge is even more for me. I decided to use a 4WD like PD suggested, I chose the Alfa Romeo 155 DTM but I used it bone stock with no changes at all! Not even an oil change @ 524pp

Sitting at 1:25.5xx. Trying to get to 1:25.0xx without handbrake and then start going after the 23s and 4s. I hate driving like that though haha.

I found throwing the car without throttle gives better entry. Did a 1.25.057 but was red flagged for bumping a wall.

Man, this one was easy. I used the 96 wide Elise, and my first terrible lap with bad tune got me the win by 2 seconds. I think the car can run a low 1:30, but it won't compete with the knuckleheads in the fast cars. Gt6 pp is broken, lol
Yes indeed.
I golded the event with my s2000 LM Race Car.
unfortunately i messed up the setting of my Elise a bit so it was bumping and hopping around :(
but i'll fix this and give the Elise another couple of shots.
The roadster in my opinion is too weak. It came around with about 500 PP which is not enough or am i something missing ?

Did exactly this! 1:35:999 in the Elise Race Car. Could run quicker but I like the time.

Ran some more laps with my 2J and was able to lower my time to 1:26.242 , which put me in 94th place:)

For a change of pace , I then decided to try Senna's '83 West Surrey Race Car, and was just able to win the Silver with a time of 1:38.533:

^^^^The West Surrey Race Car could use a little more horsepower, and perhaps then I could get the Gold with it, but I can't heap on the horsepower due to the PPvalue limitation of 550. And it doesn't like going thru the Nouvelle chicane so I'm kind of slow thru there.:(

See you around the tracks!

Decided to take my trusty old BMW Z4 GT3 for a few laps. Ran about 5 laps. First lap was red about 3/4 way round the track. Second lap, 1:40. Third lap, red on the first corner, fourth lap, red about halfway round. Lowered top end on the gearbox and had a little play with LSD settings, came back and ran one lap for a 1:38:991, then quit out. Will have a good go at this one after the weekend and see what she's capable of. Surely a gold in this beast is possible.

I was thinking of getting this little beasty and trying it out. Should be a fun drive around Monaco!

I saw your ghost running very fast into the first right and then slowly out. up the hill i catched up with it every time.
maybe you try to get in slower and gain more speed up the hill.
I will try the Z4 so maybe i can figure out some settings for you ?

Yeah I don't know this track incredibly well. Only enough to get through the very limited Career mode races. A bit of practice in the Z4 and I'll master this track as best I can. (Part of the reason I go into these TT's with a car that isn't a guaranteed gold is to fight for the gold and do the best I can with that car on that track, so I know it better than just jumping in the guaranteed gold for an easy run). :)

They should throw in some single-make or single-model TT's for a change. Bring on the Midget Madness at Midfield! :)

Good times! I must try that WSR Formula 3. In my hotlap project a stock F3 @ 551pp ran a 1:30.918 so it should be able to gold it whether I can do it is another thing

Edit: Offline grip.. Tried it could only manage 1:37... Unless the 2kg is killing it

The TS030 is more fun to drive here than the 2J, but unfortunately isn't as fast. If I have any time this weekend I'm going to find a fun car to hammer this out with, I love this damn track, and feel like a superstar when I anticipate the corner with super early turn-in and DON'T hit a barrier lol. A luxury we have playing a video game with infinite restarts :D.

I think that has just given me an idea. We should be posting our times AND lap-count to show how many times we actually drove it to get that time.

I got gold last night in the Impreza super touring car. I love that car and my tune runs really fast around this track. First lap was a low 1:37 and I was being careful. Made it down to 1:35.59X in a few laps for the gold. Maybe I will try something faster before it ends.

I did the FTO race car, forgot all about the Imreza TC, thats awesome ^^
I am trying to tune the FTO-TC for this as we speak. Even have a fellow tuner lending a hand on it.
Can I ask how you tuned the suspension and lsd on the Impreza?
Awesome man, great car ^^
