Heh, guess no one was interested in the race. Read on if your interested..... :)

Well I managed to catch the WTCC race on Eurosport and got to say it was a really exciting race throughout. The first race was very good, after the rolling start, Alan Menu started to pull away from the field but Andy Priaulx managed to catch up with Menu at the end of race and made it a tight battle. However the battle for 3rd between Yvan Muller, Robert Huff and Augusto Farfus Jr. was very interesting.

The 2nd race was really hilarious and was very unexpected. Since it was a grid start and not a rolling start, everyone just line up on the grid as usual to wait for the 5 red lights to go off and start the race. But Nicola Larini jumped on the 5th red light and made a blinding dash up to 3rd. (the commentator on Eurosport said all sorts of things about him being an idiot and all.....👍) Then the battle for 1st between James Thompson and Augusto Farfus Jr. was getting tighter, with Gabriele Tarquini close behind them. On lap 8, Thompson crashed his car and Farfus and Tarquini passed him to go onto the last lap.

Then the biggest drama on the race was both Farfus and Tarquini near the end! The commentator suggested maybe it was an oil slick left by the other driver that caused all 3 of them to crash out on that corner. Robert Huff inherited the lead and Menu then crashed at the last hairpin. The entire race left me laughing my ass off.......

Out of all the drama on the race, Manabu Orido (however unspectacular he was) managed to finish 7th and score 2 points on his first season on WTCC. :D

I really enjoyed watching the Macau GP and saw all of the coverage from both Saturdays and Sundays racing. Great action especially in the F3, FBMW and GT races aswell as some of the lesser known races like that all Honda Integra race and the drifting challenges. The Bikes were also spectacular.

Ofcourse the highlights were the F3 qualifying / race and the two WTCC races, I love how the track goes from like 6 lanes wide to one lane wide! also the Lisboa corner is amazing and very rarely does everyone get through there without an accident... it really is a great collection of bends and also elevations.

Sad to see that its wasnt all that popular on the forum here because Macau deserves alot more credit than it often gets from an international audience. Nearly every big F1 star has raced at Macau and it seems just as challenging if not more so than some of the better known circuits which can often be more boring to watch.

I hope it continues to grow and with Macau's Las Vegas style Cotai Strip contantly progressing it should bring more people there and raise its profile.

I still am asking the same question though, why is it not suitable for F1? It is because the track is not up to FIA standards or is it just too dangerous? Im sure with some cash injection from the casinos and an entire resurfacing it could offer amazing F1 races.

Yeah, I hear you. I used to watched the Macau GP a lot back when there was a live coverage for both the Formula 3 race and the Ghia race as well as the Motorcycle race. But somehow now the Macau GP has lost all its former glory and somehow just get less noticed year after year. I was lucky enough to watch the WTCC race yesterday, when all the other sports channel were not showing them....... :guilty:

As for a F1 race there, there could be so many problems with funding that its just not worth mentioning. I don't think even any investment is going to convince Bernie to host a race at Macau...... :indiff:

My guess is those guys have been racing those scooters for quite some time and they got a good handle on how to control them. Let's see Rossi and some of the other MotoGP riders try their hand at racing those scooters!:sly: If there is a racing series for these, I imagine it's probably located in the western side of the Pacific Rim.

By the way, anyone had a chance to try racing one of these in Tourist Trophy?

man now i want to go buy a scooter and race it. that looks like so much fun. does anyone know how fast those scooters go though? they must be tuned like hell i would think.

Macau is street course Hell. And I mean this in a tasteful way because it is NOT easy racing this course. Only the brave survive here. Only the determined can compete. And only the fearless will survive and win. It's also rare you see motorcycles race a traditional street course like this, knowing that leaning too far with the inside wall looming ends up in you (and maybe your bike as well) getting owned. Maybe I've played too much "Tourist Trophy," but it takes some real courage to race this course on a motorcycle. I do admire the ones who take on this challenge. The critical corner for me is that super-slow, almost one lane chicane that leads to the high-speed straights that complete a lap here.

Congrautlations to all the winners of this event among the various racing classes.
