On my third lap, I'm 9th in the world! That will last about 3 minutes ;/ 1:19:789. I'd never run this track backwards before. I credit Motor City Hami's GT40 Mark I '66 for this.

Edit: I think I could easily take off another 2 seconds with some practice.

I'm pretty sure this TT is going to be dominated by GT40s. Did only one lap, didn't even have to restart for invalidating laps, and I got 1:15.377. I am 13th in the world at the time of this posting, but I don't envision that it will last too long.

Probably the same tune you had, but I can't quite remember. I got this car set up back in January or February. That was a pretty fun run. (Kinda funny though how this TT for American cars is going to be dominated by a car that's actually British.)

Here is a non-GT40 car which is guaranteed gold with a lot of fun. Keep this out of the barrier and take it steady through the corners and you'll get gold within 2 laps.

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69

Time set - 1.19.901 on first lap.

Shelby Mustang 350 will do the trick ;-) I just thighten the suspension a bit, tuned engine and added some weight to get a better Balance front rear... easy ;-)

Trying this with the Plymouth ghia roadster 1960
no luck
I really can't tune. it just oversteers constantly.
wrong car for the job? or wrong tuner? ;)

The only way to get better at tuning is to attempt these tunes yourself. :) Keep at it and you'll get there.

I struggled a bit, but managed gold with the Shelby GT350.

Then changed for the Ford GT40 MkI and did constant laps that were 4" faster.
There is still improvement possible, but for now I did:
1.16.126.

Pretty pleased with that, since it's the first time I used the Ford. As much as I dislike the Shelby, I like the GT40 ;)

Can't belive I went to the dealership and paid $2,800,000 for the 66 Gt 40 when I (discovered after purchase ) already had the 15th Anniversary edition in my garage doh:dunce:
Anyway got gold with my dealership model @ 1:16.915 after a couple of laps. :)

Like the previous TT with 86GT the anniversary edition might be the way to go ? :indiff:

Why not check out the tunes from the Willow Springs TT? Might give you some ideas.

You'll probably find a lot of these cars will oversteer in this TT - big torque, tight corners and cobbles (sounds like an album title ) requires careful throttle control.

Edit: I'm intrigued now will have to try the Plymouth.

The GT350 is pretty easy to drive mostly stock. I think I just did the weight reduction and added sport exhaust. But you should have a GT40 from WRS event so that's obviously the right weapon.

Nice 1 Shaun, this tune got me a sub 1.14s lap
Ah, Newport, South Wales... I know the area well! I use to live a couple of miles away in Caerleon when I went to Uni there. That time you got is excellent! I am definitely going to have to attempt this again.

Shelby Cobra 427 '66 - 1:16.287 (currently #630 - #6 for non-GT 40 cars, being beaten by 5 Camaro Z28 '69 - #1 Shelby Cobra) :D

:lol::lol::lol: just did a 1:13.454 with GT40 Anni edition then realised i was only using 4th gear :banghead: and not even redlining,so i wonder if i can go quicker using all five :dunce:

and i was using Mr Praiano's GT40 Anni edition Tune but very detuned 👍

Think this will be good for you to try @joeledward and chase me down 👍

No i'm faster with 4 gears :odd: edit: yep by this much 1:13.431

Nice work! My old man owns one so I had to do this seasonal in it. Figured I'd try and set everything up exactly as he would drive it so I just bought a stock one, lowered the power to fit in the specs, turned off all aids (even ABS for the first time ever!) and delicately navigated that rocket (using cockpit cam) through Rome for a skin of my teeth gold at 1'20.918. Kind of fun to play GT in a different manner for a change 👍 Now to see if he can beat my time :)

i´ll try it out latter, looks solid setup!

That's the truth. I just checked and out of 11,489 who have golded so far, the top 1,151 slots were occupied by GT40 variants.

Just for the sake of absurdity, my choice was the El Camino. :dunce:
Very true.
I was running low 1:17's in my Z28 which put me in the 1100's last night, I had a look at the leaderboards to see how much time I would need to get under 1000 (my usual goal) and there was nothing but page after page of GT40's.
It would be nice if you could compare with other cars of the same type in events like these.

We should applaud the absurd more creative choices . As one not aiming for the ranks, I like to try out a few of the not so obvious - just makes things a bit more interesting.

I've used a horribly understeering C2 'Vette for a silver - needs some work to the setup and it will get gold, though it has nothing at the top of the rev range. I always liked the Cougar XR-7 in GT5 despite its appalling modelling, think I'll try that also.
