'16 SS vs '15 BMW M4

Performance:

Price as tested:
'16 Camaro SS - $46,095
'15 BMW M4 - $77,495

A little disappointed to see the Ford off by a second plus on these two. I mean I'm always a Camaro fan first, but the Mustang has just looked more lean and sharp to me. But I feel the ride package is why the Camaro keeps coming out ahead when it makes a new Gen compared to the Mustang. If Ford can replicate or outdo the Chevy then it'd be quite interesting between the two. At this point it's more or less just waiting for the next version of the other to come out so it can reclaim the top spot.

Put magnetic ride control and PSSs on a mustang and I'd wager it'd go quick too.

Sure it would, 350/350R proved this they need to make a version or something as good for the GT as GM does for the SS. I'm sure it will happen soon enough, but until then the SS is on top again and I'm sure once the ZL1 or Z28 comes out for this gen it will take that portion back from the 350R.

How so? The M4 is the coupe, thus it gets paired with another coupe.
I just got confused by BMW, I thought that the coupe is usually the smaller one...

I thought the M4 can have people you don't hate in the back?

+edit
The upcoming M2 seems to be the closest fit IMHO... 2+2 coupe, 4.2 seconds to 60 mph and $53k price.

But I'm probably wrong.

Why would it be the closest. M2 is fighting in a different class of cars, that'd be like putting the CLA AMG against the Camaro SS. The odd number M cars (M3 and M5 and X5 M) are the ones that seat more or are sedans. The even numbers are the more coupe oriented cars that seem less keen on luxury but mostly performance.

In other words an M3 is a sedan that would seat people in the back better than the M4.

****ing Germans.

Huh, the Camaro is wider and longer than the M4. The height is about the same though. That's... really weird. The Camaro always seemed kinda squat.

The Camaro is massive. It's about halfway between the M4 and M6 in size but is slightly lower than either.

Talkin' about the 2016 Camaro or the old one that just got replaced? The new car is noticeably smaller, not as svelte as the ATS with which it shares its chassis, but properly nipped/tucked to where it should have been in the first place.

The new one. It's still a big car. I didn't check the dimensions of the old one but I'd be unsurprised if it's a close match for the F12.

If anything this thing is even harder to see out of than the old one.

The old one was almost identical in size to the 6-Series.

It is far worse than I remember the 5th gen model being. At least with that one, you seemed to sit up a bit higher and have windows that weren't at nose-level. The new one is a much nicer space to be in, absolutely, but I'd have had a very hard time driving it in traffic without some kind of lane watch or warning for the massive blind spots.

Yeah my biggest issue with the car that the others seem to not struggle with.

What are you, a luddite? That 10 speed is an amazing feat of engineering.

I draw the line at 8. 8 is the limit before it becomes ridiculous and that's pushing it. In reality 7's the most I can call sensible. Any more than 8 is just being pointless.

You don't even know what you're talking about. The ZF eight speed is the same size as their old 6 speed. This new Ford/GM unit has nested elements, allowing for ten ratios from the same sized unit.

I thought they'd put an engine with similar characteristics with the Voodoo.

After looking at the pics, The steering wheel looks cheap and out of place for the rest of the interior

I'm aware of that, But considering the Voodoo is based on the Coyote, I thought they'd make a flat plane, naturally aspirated V8 out of the LT, But that would probably have a better fit in the Z/28 (If they ever make a new anyways)

Ugh, kill it with fire. Just way overboard on the styling, and that front lower grille just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Even the mesh inside it looks like they took a small grille and just stretched it out in photoshop. GM, you're trying too hard.
