Minassian is epic. 11th, no hope in hell of winning, but pushes on with 3'25s.

Also, #1 R15 now 2 laps behind Gene's car. Kristensen was inches away from shunting Gene in the pitlane, but Gene came out first, and put a gap on the Audi incredibly quickly.

Flying Lizard's done. I think this was Crashbroke23's pick in LMGT2.

As for the weather situation, I know I said that wunderground.com forecasted a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms around this time of the race, then rain likely by 2PM or 5PM in France. Trust me, people. This race is VERY far from over. Now what I noticed from Post #603 was that there seemed to be heavy showers and thunderstorms at least 30+ miles north of Le Mans, and it seems like it isn't dropping southward. It's probably a good thing since all hell would break loose if this race saw the wet stuff come down to greet the drivers and teams and fans.

Meanwhile, I'm scheming drinking another Pepsi to stay awake.

For the greater good of the event I would like to see the Peugeot win, it's probably the last year for the 908's and Audi have had it all their own way for far too long, but with Peugeot you just get a feeling that they are just waiting to press the self distruct button.

The gap from 1st to 3rd after 16 hours is only 6 minute's, anything could yet happen, a puncture, contact with a back marker, mechanical troubles, rain :scared: this race is not yet decided, not by a long way.

[WIKIPEDIA]Patrick Dempsey[/WIKIPEDIA] is about to go in for another stint. :)

If they were to do a updated version of [WIKIPEDIA]Le Mans[/WIKIPEDIA], do you think he would be the star? :D

Yeah, it was the Lola Aston. There were a couple shots of the 008 car in the pits then.

I couldn't really get a great look when it was happening the eurosport crew had it in a split screen at the time.

So what happened to Flying Lizard? I found out the bad news on the Live Timing Sheet :indiff:
Maybe it's something to do with the car geting a flat tire on course and not being able to get back to the pits to change it?

Looks like gearbox troubles, not good but a damn sight better than engine:tup:

It's 6:50 AM in Le Mans, France. Here's the latest deal I read from Weather Underground ( http://www.wunderground.com ) on the weather conditions. It seems like the rest of the way could remain dry. Rain isn't expected until starting at 2PM local time, but only a slight chance of showers. Assuming the race concludes at 3:00 PM in Le Mans, there may only be a slight chance of rain. But heading into 5PM on out, better chances of rain.

Then, I checked accuweather.com, and here's my findings from that site: this site is predicting rain in the 11AM hour and the 3PM hour.

So I wouldn't expect a deluge like in the 2001 race or late in the 2008 race. Now if Audi ends up losing this race (let's assume anything can still happen, which is almost guaranteed), considering not enough pre-testing and such... I don't think Audi will complain about everything under the sun as to why they didn't take down Peugeot one last time. Either way, Audi's going to want revenge and really step their game up for 2010 if Audi loses this race. Peugeot will win for the first time since 1993 if they can hang on for six or seven more hours.

#8 peugeot catches upto the #9 they fight over first place, take each other off, Audi wins Le Mans 2009

👍 the closer the better

Seems the klien/minassion peugeot is down 13 laps anyone knows what happend tonight? because 5 hours ago it was down 6 laps and now 13 👎

The #8 Peugeot was temporarily on the same lap as the #9 Peugeot, but it's now back down one lap (according to timing and scoring on lemans.org).

It appears the entirety of the Peugeot team's bad luck concentrates on that car. The troubles from that early pit-lane crash aren't completely solved, so they had to pit several times to fix and re-fix it. That, and other random problems.

Doesn't stop them from occasionally having a go at fast laps: Minassian in particular drives as if possessed, and churned out 3'25s at a time when everyone did 3'30. He has nothing to lose, anyway.

They're on the same lap, it's just the way this system is programmed: While the #9 already completed Lap X, the #8 car is still in the process of completing it, so it counts as one lap down instead of showing the gap. Just a crappy system.

Dunno if it's been asked but surely the enclosed monocoque of the Peugeot has a significant aerodynamic advantage over the Audi??? Especially with alot of flat out sections, the Audi would have drag... ?

Surface drag is negligible on a race-car: Form and turbulence drag are significant, so the straight surfaces cause little drag, relatively.

But yes, a closed monocoque has aerodynamic advantages mainly in terms of drag - a smooth surface is superior to one with irregularities such as an open cockpit - but they also have to install AC to keep temperatures inside within regulations.

I'm back in, missed a couple of hours but I think I've managed to catch up. I'll be here until the end now.

Looks like the #82 Rizi Ferrari had a major lock-up under braking and has pitted for a fresh set of slicks.

At this point we're a lap behind the number of laps completed at this time last year(288 to 289).
