Le Mans Hour Fourteen:

The #74 Corvette of Westbrook, Milner and Gavin were having issues, ending up in the garage. However, it seemed to be a routine brake disc change for the team. Elsewhere, it looked as though the #14 Porsche of Marc Lieb and the Toyota of Anthony Davidson were now locked in a zig-zagging battle, exchanging places between stops.

In LMP2, the battle for second looked to be pretty tight. Chatin was now in the Alpine, while Tristan Gommendy was in the TDS Racing Ligier. The Alpine driver looked to have the edge, however. Back to the top class, and Brendon Hartley seemed to be having issues, with the voice from his radio telling him to go easy on the brakes. Apparently, Brendon also had slight contact with traffic minutes before the pit message, so things are not going to well for the young Kiwi in the Porsche.

Giancarlo Fisichella was still leading in GTE PRO, but his lead was extremely marginal, with just three tenths of a second splitting the Italian and Darren Turner in the #97 Aston Martin. Sure enough, the Aston driver made it past Fisichella on the Mulsanne, and proceeded to scarper away from the AF Corse Ferrari. Fisichella stopped a few laps later, handing the Ferrari over to Bruni once more.

Elsewhere in GTE, Jordan Taylor spun on his out lap at the first chicane, and reports of gravel at the chicane meant that there could be consequences for the rest of the field if they are not careful. The SMP Racing Ferrari had still not made any progress, sitting in the Garage with work still going on. This meant that the main challenger to the GTE AM leading Aston Martin was the #61 AF Corse Ferrari of Mirko Venturi, over a lap down.

In a shock twist, the #7 Toyota of Kazuki Nakajima has stopped at Arnage. This means that Benoit Treluyer has taken the lead, and he has been told that the Toyota was on fire. However, there has been no sign of the car on the cameras, and it seems that Kazuki is phoning for help… Could this be the big shift that defines the race?

So, the #2 Audi leads in LMP1. LMP2 is still headed by the Mardenborough OAK Ligier, who’s 1 minute 15 seconds clear of the Ollie Webb Alpine. Darren Turner still leads in GTE Pro, while the Nicki Thiim #95 Aston Martin leads in GTE AM.

Wait, how do you know the driver is phoning for help? I saw one of the engineers on the phone but I can't believe race drivers take their cellphones with them!:lol::lol:

Jordan spin on track and reports gravel on the track at T1 and T2. In for fuel and tires and exits for a triple stint.

You missed that from the 73

He's probably following their twitter feeds like others are, that's how I know so much about GTE Pro and the 919.

All the big manufacterers give the drivers cellphones, they mentioned that earlier in the feed.

Actually almost all of these drivers do carry their phones on board... ;)

Most actually do, so they can talk to the team while trying to fix the car...

Tree'd: Though @Prince.M5 it's not the drivers phone as a rule, more likely a phone that 'belongs to the car', so to speak...

Malaysia Flight comes to mind.

Yeah, no kidding, I'm feeling all Twilight Zone overe here! Where the Jeebus is that car?

That's hilarious! I suppose that's a necessity in a track as huge as Le Mans and in a world where all celebrations just have to be done with a selfie!

The stream I'm listening to said that it may be parked behind a barrier. Note that it's merely speculation, but that seems quite possible.

Is he 1 or 2 laps down

EuroSport UK said that same thing. Still, I find it awkward that nobody has confirmed anything and it's been what, 10 minutes?

Well its over yet again for Toyota. This race will never go their way.
