So you are just ignoring the fact that their car has the pace of an LMP2? ;)

Just as their Deltawing and ZEOD, the GTR LMP is abysmal...
For a 24hr test session, they seem to be doing alright. At least they are all still running. Next year, the year they plan on going for the win, will probably be much different.

All Nissan has to do is finish with all three cars running and I think most would forgive them for showing up with only half of their powertrain working. /easier said

Even the best of teams that have everything working smoothly at the start of the race, have a very difficult time finishing the 24 Hours of Le Mans with all three cars running.

A team that is brand new to this race is not going to finish well in its first year. Nissan's performance so far is still terrible for an LMP1 team, but if they don't finish period I would not be surprised. That's not out of the ordinary.

For real, what is going on right now with Nissan? They are in there with the LMP2 cars right now, but they are LMP1's.
They have the engine in the wrong place. 💡

Seriously though it was unsure if they could make a car at all for the race, which means that they're doing better than it looked like just few weeks ago.

So almost an hour in, we can assume a few things for now:

  • The Porsches are stupidly quick, breaking most lap records over its knee;
  • Audi is closely following, perhaps awaiting the right moment to strike resorting to pit strategy;
  • Toyota, the brand that once led this race with ease last year, are struggling to keep up, trying to also resort to pit strategy to bounce back;
  • Nissan are just struggling, period. It was obvious that this was going to happen, but still. They will probably take the same approach that Dome did when they built the S102.5, gave it to Pescarolo and told them to just focus on getting a fast lap...
  • LMP2 is so far the closed roof land, with KCMG really getting a good pace,
  • GT will be a fun battle to watch as usual, with all sorts of nice duels between the GTAM and GTPRO class.

I hope the Nissans suffer so many mechanical problems they go home and never bring that abomination back on track.

For what it's worth, the car they are running this year will almost for sure not be the car they run next year. Teams in the LMP1 category rarely come back with the same car. The chasis actually might not improve, but the rest of the car typically does.

Glad to Patrick get out of that.

I hope the Nissans suffer so many mechanical problems they go home and never bring that abomination back on track.

I was just thinking, you know what Le Mans has, too many manufactures!!!

Watching on FOX Sports2 and camera feed just cut after showing a Porsche GTE in flames, so they went to break with no info on the incident.:banghead:
