Come on, the Ford sandbag joke is getting old now :P

Besides, I personally don't see how they've suddenly "dumped the sandbags" and gained a huge chunk of time. Besides they're not running away with at the moment, GTE is certainly close right now.

One thing Fox is doing this year different is leaving the race footage run during commercials and just cutting the announcer audio.

YouTube has two live feeds up, not sure what people are using. EuropSport sounds better than the boring Fox guys but it's not RLM

I have nothing, and until they add some new AA batteries to their server I guess we have Trussers to tell us what is going on.
If you search "Le Mans" on Youtube with the live filter you'll probably find something. It's a little naughty but call it force majeure.

I didn't read or see any of the pre-race coverage, nor recall the Audi news. It was interesting to tune in and see only 5 LMP1s in the front.

Apparently if temperatures reach 32 degrees C, then Toyota will probably be forced to cut driving stints to 80 minutes at a time. That's something that would probably worry a fan, though I'm sure Toyota has gone over this rule and made sure the cockpit can be kept below that without needing AC.

According to french public TV commentators, Toyota didn't plan for such heat at all, based on temp history on last 25 years. Thing is, the temp is way higher than average at Le Mans today, and things will be worse tomorrow. Toyota may be impacted by the 32° rule.

Yeah, shame, isn't it? Losing the major force, aka Audi, and Nissan who, I really hoped, would have continued their LMP1 program, it feels a bit empty at the top level.

And now there's the Porsche LMP1 exit rumors...which unfortunately aren't unrealistic at this point.

It's really quite worrying and tragic really isn't it :nervous:. If Porsche do leave, then the minimum requirement of 2 manufactures would not be fulfilled, and thus LMP1 would be in doubt.

Yep

Though it looks like the other classes will have some good competition this year. I'm hoping they get adequate coverage.

I have a feeling that rumor was started by a journalist looking for a story during a rather quiet week.
It was made by the same guy that wrote during Le Mans last year of Audi's potential exit. I'm taking it with a grain of salt but its not exactly confidence inducing when the Porsche brass aren't pleased by costs and results.
