I think Jordan thought he could "get away with it" at the Mulsanne straight, and I don't mean in terms of rules or penalties. I mean the car could handle it. He's used to the IMSA tracks and that doesn't happen as often there.

British brute leaves poor Vette with a black eye, after French fracas. :D

Nah, seriously though props to them for putting up a battle.

Well done! to Porsche. Shame about Toyota. Le Mans is a cruel mistress. Well done! to Jackie Chan and all the other LMP 2's and team AM.

What a race!

Hey everyone, this year I wasn't around to hang with everyone here for this year, but I did see much of the action at Lemans.. This was a another great year, just like last years.. And a huge congrats to Porsche on their recent 3rd and 19th win...

I know a victory song that fits this race:

Yes, it's from the GT RC Spec parody, but I love this remix of the GT3 race finish theme. I wish the creator would release a mp3 file of it.

Yes, this a perfect theme for the team of the sole #2 919 Hybrid! After all this grueling heat and intense racing, they deserve it! Congrats Timo and the team for a outstanding win!! :D:tup:

You know if next years privateer LMP1 rules and teams were here for this years race, we could have seen a privateer team snatch victory from the hybrids. The heat just made a mess of things for the hybrid cars.

A privateer LMP1 team winning would be making some history if that did happen, but as long they are not running a hybrid LMP1 car, it would have been a risk for them just like the #7 and #9 TS050s and the #1 919 :scared:.

And speaking of hybrid LMPs, Toyota and Porsche need to find a solution to their LMP's systems acting up in the heat and even in humid conditions. If they can, they would have a higher chance in winning in these conditions, especially in a endurance race.

Corvette say their car had a RR tire puncture and since it is their car and their telemetry I will take their word for it. The issue with the LF was likely due to locking the wheel repeatedly because the RR time was down.
Then there may have been two punctures as it could clearly be seen that the front left was destroyed when the car limped across the line and turned into the end of the pit.

Now if there's only a place in Florida that gets hot and humid to test your cars....

Normally, the Vette is quite a tank. The Aston just managed to snag that tire and that's what put it all to an end.

Anyways, that was an awesome battle to the finish! Congrats to AMR, that was a very hard fought and deserved win. 👍

Definitely one of the wildest and craziest Le Mans I have ever seen in my rather short life. :P

Daytona, perhaps? ;), but that is in the early part of the year, in the cooler, winter months. Unless it like that during the 24hr of Daytona, never been to Florida during January nor February. But if they can test the cars in this type of weather, it can benefit Toyota and Porsche in this situation. That is why I think they need to work on for 2018. The cars are great, but this problem can be serious if they don't.

Edit: Sebring would be a good choice as well.

I think they used to test in winter to shake down cars, and then sometime in May to simulate Le Mans weather.

This is a ideal situation that both Toyota and Porsche should do, it is time to pull more pages from the Book of Audi. Audi has been in these type of errors and situations since they were competing with LMPs. And they have found the answers to their flaws in their prototypes and they have worked or at least gave them more to think about. That is why we seen many wins or top podium victories from Audi.

I didn't even get a chance to actually see any of the race this year, so thanks to you all for the coverage, funny remarks, and thoughtful comments.

Congrats to Aston for the win, Ford for 2nd (I'm sort of a Ford fanboy so I was glad to hear this ) and of course my heart goes out to Toyota for their mechanical failures, yet again.

It seems in general in Motorsports, Toyota just can never get a break, huh? There's always next year.:gtpflag:

I watched most of the race thanks to having Eurosport on my tablet - exciting stuff in the LMP2 and GT classes... shame an LMP2 didnt win outright as it was what they deserved... back to the drawing board for those LMP1 hybrids though! As for Eurosport, their coverage is better than no coverage but they seem to believe that showing the same ten adverts every 10 minutes for 24 hours is a good idea... if I never see another ad for Amazon Prime, Kenwood or Cars 3 it will be too soon. Still, a great race and roll on #86...

So much this!

That because Eurosport is in American hands now.

For next year I'll post the RTLGP stream everywhere possible. It's free, the ads are completely doable and available for the world to watch.

I'd rather taken the Cars 3 ad over the ones from the UEFA.

This "so and so deserved to win" needs to stop. Every single team who entered the race deserves to win. No one deserves it more than anyone else. Each team has spent days getting ready for this race. Each team has spent millions of dollars for this race. Each driver dreams of winning this race. It is true it is devastating to see Toyota to lose in this fashion. It is unlucky, yes, but it shouldn't stop other teams from "deserving the win". Toyota lost last year, because of a mechanical failure. It happened again this year. As the saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Toyota should have been fixed any reliability issues they had. You're supposed to learn from experience. I rooted for Toyota this year, because of how close they were to a win last year. Seeing them have issues was heartbreaking like last year. But that's racing. This should not and does not stop other teams from winning.
