Hi, can anyone tell me is it possible to replace the FFB motors on the G27, I'm afraid mine are going to die very soon, they are getting very hot i can barely touch them???I read somewhere that 24V are used by the g27 is it possible to use 12V motors, i really have no idea of volts and those things?

Hi sik, do you know what motors are being used in g27 and where to get them if possible?

No sorry mate,i wouldn't have a clue :/ but i'm sure there are other people on this forum that have done it,myself i own a fanatec.

Sorry i couldn't help you out bud.

There are certainly modification options like this one below for the G27 (probably many others as well), but putting in new stock motors though... I'm not sure if it's worth it, I mean they're meant to be very reliable helical gears, the cost of replacing the motors versus upgrading the unit or buying a new unit...

I will say this, I find with the G27 on snow or dirt, its always clanking and grinding in a way I'm not that keen on it doing, I can't be sure if its damaging the gears or the motor through the strain of gears not operating properly (hard to know the weak point), but I don't like doing dirt or snow tracks with it as a result, or if I do, I try to complete the gold time trial very quickly, normally 1-2 laps then exit it out, its just not fun if it's sacrificing my wheel for other things.

Check this out and see what you think.

This is to expensive.I don't want the ffb stronger or something i just want it to be like it should be with no overheating and lose of ffb.

An support specialist from logitech told me: Based on your description, most likely the problem on your G27 Racing Wheel is/are the resistor/s connected to the motors. then i ask if there is anything i can do, he replies: It's best if the motors of your G27 wheel be replaced.

So i wonder is there anyone who knows which motors are used in a g27, where to get them (if possible) and is it possible to use other similar motors instead of the original one, the original one is from Johnson i thing, but is it possible to use an similar from mabuchi for e.g. and what parameters i need to look at???

My main point is, I very much doubt the cost of a new G27, or upgrading your current (possibly already broken) G27, wouldn't be significantly more than finding these motors, and when you've installed your new motors, if they're even possible to find, you'll still be left with a used G27.

If you find the motors, great, but remember to compare the cost + your labour, with the cost of a brand new G27... Or even someone elses used one (I bought a hardly used one and no horror stories here).

Also remember, the G27 is said to be one of the most reliable wheels there is.

This is my second g27 wheel with the same problem (overheating and losing ffb) and it costs like 200 bucks maybe a little more and those motors can be found for 5 bucks, why not give it a try

...If? Or you're certain the motors cost $5? Earlier you were questioning their availability, have you found them? If so, could you provide a link as I'd be interested to know, as a fellow G27 user, I might need them one day (although if you've gone through two G27 wheels, I would have to suggest your usage may be causing some of the problem).

Have you tried contacting logitech, they sell spare parts and may be able to find you motors.
