Is anyone else with me on this?

I joined a group sharing museum cards to collect the whole set, with help I collected the whole set of race gear, special paints and a rather large collection of paint chips soon built up...

"You do not have room for any more items!"

Arrrrgh!

The game was designed for a near 'OCD' type collecting mentality - a goal to complete a set of many of the things in game, even car horns, but when you have the full set of them all this annoying message pops up every single time you start the game.

Oh you can send 5 of each type of item to your friends to help keep the load down but if you log in every day you get more back than you can send! Why oh why is there no means of deleting duplicate museum cards and horns?

My GT5 regret? Filling my collection with so many paint chips - I cannot use and/or send them out fast enough to stop getting this annoying message pop up with every use of the game - I even had to send as many items as I could, and paint a car numerous times to remove chips, before I could receive the prizes from doing GT Academy.

Wish I had never started being bothered about collecting the whole sets...

I'm happy to say I don't own a single horn, suit or helmet. 👍

The museum cards are the bane of my GT5 life. I have thousands of the infernal things! 👎

The horns and racing suits / helmets are just pointless. The museum cards are interesting but it would be nice if you could zoom into the pictures a bit more.

On a side note, isn't it funny how the Ford museum is filled with pictures and information about the Thunderbird yet it doesn't feature in the game?

After 1 year and 9 months I finally ran into the same problem as the OP this week. I've been sending 5 museum cards to friends everyday but I receive 10 a day. Why in the world can't we delete them? It is such a pain in the butt :ill:.

I couldn't find that suggestion thread that I hear about. If someone makes the suggestion in that thread please post a link and I'll back you up.

P.S. I strongly advise anyone who plays this game a lot to go to their museum every once and a while and give away duplicate cards before it becomes a problem.

What about the people you are sending them to. They will get the same problem though. Not telling you what to do on your friends list but i dont see this as a fix.

I agree! I've only been sending them to friends that are "newer" to the game. One of them voiced a little displeasure with me because they don't care for them lol. One of them just lost everything so it shouldn't put him in a bind. I've also sent him a bunch of suits, helmets, paints and cars.

The simple fact is we need the option to delete museum cards and horns. It should be a easy fix that would mean a lot to those that have spend a ton of time with GT5.

Thanks for the link Hoodfield 👍.

From the link:
~snip~ The results of this test was that all of the following count towards your total number of items:
  • Gear
  • Tuning Parts (not installed)
  • Horns
  • Paints
  • Tickets
* Cars and Museum Cards do not count towards your total which explains why they are not in the "Item" folder.
Now I must concentrate my efforts on gifting duplicate paints and horns. I guess I'll be less horny in the future :D.

You can create another account to send all your suits and hemets to.
You'll save a good bunch of item space.

GT5 - The real paint chip collecting simulator.

Oh, that's not what it's called? Considering the shortcomings of the game related to actual driving and racing activites, I am glad these other features are half-assed because it means they didn't waste time on frivolous things instead of the core of the game.

Well I'm not interested in paint chips, but I've been trying to collect museum cards & horns. I'm looking to see if there is a real truck horn in GT5 that I can put into my Dodge Ram or one of my other trucks. Still no luck yet but I don't even know if there is a horn like that in GT5. If anyone has one that they don't need, it would be greatly appreciated.

As for the museum cards, I have been trying to collect at least 1 full manufacturer set. The closest I am is 20/22 Lotus cards. I think I need card 16 or 17, and card 21. I have many multiples of cards, paint chips, and horns I would gladly trade if you're interested. My one rule is that I must get horn or card first. I made that mistake when I gave my '60 Corvette for a Chapparral 2J and the guy never sent me the car.

I have been sending a few items to my 2nd account. I just recently created it to dupe broken-in Nascars and I just started collecting 0/0/0 cars from the Online Dealership.

The guy could have been new to GT5. You cannot send a 2J because it is well over the $950,000 trade/gift limit.

So far deleted all horns and 100% gear from main account..
Disable daily bonus would be cool option 👍

Agreed that either feature would be a useful addition - deleting duplicate items or disabling the daily bonus feature.

Thanks for clarifying the situation HOODFIELD - who has been a complete star in helping me to collect all of the museum cards :)

@hobanator24 - add grrlpurple to your PS3 friends list and send me a list of museum cards you need, I'll send out any duplicates I have that are on your list :)

Looks like I need to spend a few hours tackling my over 3000 strong paint chip collection - it wouldn't have grown so large without the unstoppable daily bonus...

We would not had this problem if items had stacked the way they originaly did.
After spec 2 it has been messed up.
1 stack = 1 item, and there are not enough different items to reach the limit if you have one of each. But after spec 2 you can easily end up with several stacks of the same item. The daily bonus can give you up to 10 new stacks each day. Then there is everything you get from winning, trading or buying.

We would still eventually run into the problem, it would just take longer. Agreed though that the stacking is a big FAIL on PD's part and it's unbelievable that they could not patch it somehow.

Me and a guy on here called Rperrone did a long trade about 6 months ago. A DLC painted car for 50 Suits/Helmets a day, until I filled a my collection. Now every day I get the message too and I actually find this one more annoying than the 20 million limit on money.

2643 paints
952 helmets
850 suits
13 special outfits
279 horns
-----------------
4737 items total
-----------------

Limit for items: 7000

Even with some missing paints from DLC and from any items added to GT5 in the future, there should not be a problem with the limit.

But bad stacking totaly mess it up. So we do not have only one stack of each item. But many.

Add 2000 cars and 1 of each birthday and special ticket and your pushing it very close to 7000. Leaves no room for you to have multiple copies but just one of each item. Then comes the login bonus.

Edit: Think I'm wrong about cars part, but not really sure, sorry.

Yet another badly thought out, & poorly implemented GT5 feature. Thanks for the heads up, I won't bother getting into the collecting business.

👍

Oooo... do cars count as items too HOODFIELD?

Many of my premium cars I have tuned duplicates for and I have almost every car in the game (save a couple of missing standards and the Chromeline/Stealth cars)...

The stacking of items is the biggest issue by far - when use any paintchips I have to sort them by name instead of quantity in order to see how many of each I actually have. Makes no sense what so ever. The quantity sort option is totally redundant.

Because you don't use it doesn't make it redundant, I have a few favourite colours for things like wheels (or some favourite all round colours) which I collected/duped and thus stacked so this option is very convenient to find them quickly.

You know what, I'm not sure anymore. It's been so long and that thread I linked is confusing. I know the tickets do. I never counted all my items myself so all I'm going by is the link.

If you clean up the paint chips and gear you will be fine. This use to bug me and I eventually got over it. I never deleted cars with the 7000 limit in mind. I'm deleting cars because of the 2000 limit. :boggled:

If you are really curious, what you could do to test out is when you see the message pop up, try and delete a car. Then have someone send you two paint chip or two of anything. Then see if you have room.

Sorry if I confused things, I'm honestly not the expert on this. Digital Nitrate would know for sure.

I don't know if you know this (sure you probably do) If you have a huge load of suits. You can send as many as you want to with no limit. If you want i have a friend that enjoys them I'll take them off your hands if you want up to you

I know this a bit of an old thread but I only got my PS3 and GT5 2 weeks ago so would appreciate any freebies like the museum cards sending my way.

Thanks if you can, no probs if you cannot.

Cheers
