A light-hearted look at GT4

Actually it never did ask you about clearing the trophies in the DTM; it's a championship series.

Check. If I put a racing-chip in my Citroen 2cv, it stalls in a standing start. In two-player, if the other car gives it a push, it takes-off (so-to-speak). You can also start it by rolling down-hill. It looks like a Peter Sellers movie. My game has a sense of humor.

:eek:I've never known that to happen, this I got to see...

*B-spec Bob has superhuman endurance, being able to drive for 24 hours straight without eating, drinking, resting or going to the bathroom.

*All cars are made of plutonium thus allowing them to not even dent at 200mph+ collisions much less sustain any sort of mechanical damage.

*A spec points are useless and more for bragging rights rather than anything useful.

*You are able to buy an infinite number of otherwise rare cars in a new car dealership.

*There is no such thing as broken gearboxes or busted engines.

*You have the magic ability to accelerate time.

*Weather is perfect in the world of Gran Turismo (except in Tsukuba).

*Cars from as far into the future as 2022 are able to be driven in the year 2005.

*What's Ferrari,Lamborghini,Porsche and Bugatti?

*You are able to enter even a spaceship into the sunday cup if you want to.

*Understeer is part of the physics of the world of Gran Turismo.

*Any Race Car can be bought by your own money.

Well, it's been a little over 5 years, and I thought I'd start a thread for all of us to take a moment and share the sillier things we've learned about our game before GT5 finally gets released and the GT4 forum becomes totally empty. :( For instance, I shall start.

Off the top of my head, I've learned a couple things.

1). The sun never sets, weather never changes in Germany or France, even over a 24-hour period. :boggled:

2). Autumn Ring is perpetually stuck in the fall season.

....

Well, the Forum is still not totally empty, Parnelli, but I can only imagine what the GT5 Forums would be like after GT6 (if there is one!)

I love the fact that Autumn Ring is perpetually stuck in Fall, but the one that's always in season for me is El Capitan. Pure fantasy.
And the fact that you can buy the four stealth cars over and over and over . . .

A bit off-topic but I've noticed that GT4 has better wet weather than GT5!
There are reflections, the spray looks better...

I was five minutes into the twenty-fourth hour at the 'Ring (A-spec) when the house main-breaker popped. The room was very dark.

Resurrection time!!!!!

*In GT4 you are able to drive on semi-permanent (La sarthe,Monaco/Cote 'D Azur and All city courses)whenever you please.

*We have the best car washing mechanism in the Universe "GT Auto.

*Oil changes are done by getting under a car and sucking the oil and recycling it in your mouth to spit it back in (These guys have super oil recycling powers).

*0 km cars come with dirty oil

*Fuel is always High Octane racing fuel which is inexpensive in the World of GT

*Race tracks are loading screens apart in the world of GT

*the used car dealerships hold Rare cars too :odd:

*The world is controlled by a mouse.

*You have a larger garage capacity than Jay Leno.

*We live in a small world (Evidenced by the map screen).

*Cities build permanent (apparently) race courses for no apparent reason other than to watch 6 cars race.

*Other Drivers are either Zombies or Are braindead.

*there is a village.

*You can stop time to take photos.

*You can go anywhere in the world in just one loading screen.

*Races can be suspended forever!!!

*There is no such thing as a cockpit in any car.

Some series make use of a time machine somehow, whereby for instance in the All Japan GT Championships you race on both Fuji 90's and Fuji 2005 in the same series.

The song is called "Oooooh Yeah" by Yello.

I honestly remember when I first got GT4 and heard that song I went straight to the jukebox and shut it off the playlist.
I thought the song was called 'The Race' by Yello?

The Stigs real name is Bob.

No public roads have manhole covers.

The sky at Le Sarthe changes colour when your not viewing from within the car. Especially on the long camera shots down the Mulsanne Straight.

The 'TV' director always knows exactly where you are on the track.

Despite tyres losing rubber, the track never 'rubbers' in.

Crowds in the grandstands always cheer when you go past.

You can speed time by a factor of three, but engine sounds don't change in pitch.

But the physics suffer...

I take that comment back; GT3 can have a good sense of speed with the 16:9 aspect ratio, and GT4 is very flawed, espicially with the erratic, drunk, dumb-arse physics but in its case had decent motion blur for a sense of speed like GT1 and GT2.
