Remember September 11th? Many of you probably had an American flag on your car or displayed at your house. Eventually, you probably took it down (like I did) because it was time to get on with life.

Wouldn't now be a good time to get that flag back out and put it back on your dodge viper or NSX or Z06 or pinto or whatever you drive. I'd like to see some of the partiotism that we saw a year and a half ago.

Now would be a perfect time to do so. I was already thinking about it. I think many americans are. If and when the war starts, you might start seeing it again. I suspect a lot of yellow ribions to be tied around a lot of Oak trees to also!

I've got to find the sticker I packed away somewhere. The flag's also going up when I get home...

The Flag sticker NEVER came out of the Escort. It is still proudly displayed on the left side of the rear window.

My flag never came down. I just have to keep replacing them. Something tells me they won't be as hard to find as they were after 9/ 11.

I don't think so. To me, all of those people that put flags on everything they can are hypocrites. Not trying to offend any of you, but honestly, how many of you all have served in any American Armed Forces? Not too many, probably 1 or 2 out of the whole GTP community. To me, it's like pop music. The only reason why people listen to pop music is because they think it's 'cool'. Honestly, the people don't care about the musical tallent, they just don't have the backbone to stand up and do something on their own and not having to rely on fitting in 100% of the time.

Just because you haven't served in the Military doesn't mean that you can't support your country or be patriotic... :odd: While I'll admit some people don't do it because they truly believe in it, I'd say that many people do.

I have. Four years active duty in the "Canoe Club". I was on the last ship that put ordinance on Beirut.
It was also the same Navy ship that was under Challenger when it blew up, that then stayed on station for 3 days picking debris out of the Atlantic.

All Americans have the right to fly the flag. It is a bit of a shame that it took tragedy to bring us together. But we did come together. That is the important thing.

I started flying my flag on my porch last night. It's been raining off and on all day. I don't fly the flag when it's raining.

Check out my avatar.

Nope. I'm not putting up any flags. Especially for a war benefitting Bush and his iol hungry comrades.

I like to laugh at the assholes who put up American flags on their German / Japanese / Korean cars.

Listen you ungrateful little ****stain, that flag represents a hell of a lot more than any current administration or their politics. That flag represents the Constitution and all the ideals of freedom and democracy that it gives us. It represents every single ****ing soldier who died in the Revolution, the Civil War, World War I and II, and every minor war and "police action" in between--each of them who died for YOUR ability to sit on your ****ing fat ass and scream about how it's about the OIIIIIIILLLLL.

It's a crying ****ing shame that you're too blinded by your hatred of Bush to be able to see that. Grow the **** up.

Oh. I think you're the blind one my friend.

I support the people fighting the war just not the big men in Washington.

Besides, what democracy are you talking about? What freedom are you talking about? We're losing more rights every day.

Well it looks like Klaustrophobic supports Iraq.

So Klaustrophobic supports torture, murder, rape,no freedom of speech,no freedom of the press,no freedom of religion,no freedom of association, and, imprisonment without trial.

If you do not support Iraq why do you have the Iraqi flag as your avatar?

I just want to mention that I remember something about my best friend from virginia...

He had an american flag sticker on his car long before anything ever happend with 9/11 and for that I will always have some major respect.

I personally dont have any flags because I know I dont need to front my love for this country.

Of course, there are some such as tank that aren't "fronting" but rather, sticking up for the righteousness of our great country.

i suppose i shouldn't comment cause im from New Zealand but Klos people are starting to get real pissed off with you.....maybe a change of avatar to make people abit more happy.

So Klaustrophobic supports torture, murder, rape,no freedom of speech,no freedom of the press,no freedom of religion,no freedom of association, and, imprisonment without trial.

That sound more like Zimbabwe.....

Hah! How can you say you support the people fighting the war and then use the flag of the enemy they are fighting against as an avatar? The people who fight under that flag are shooting at and trying to kill our people.

No, you don't support our people if you use the Iraqi flag as an avatar.

Being sarcastic about war isn't smart,it's stupid.

It is inappropriate to be sarcastic about a war in which thousands of American soldiers may die.

But thats who he is. He's all about smart and sarcasm, ask anyperson whose been here longer then 6 months and they'll tell you he is joking around. Although hes likely to come here and say he isn't, and thats him being him.

Indeed, it does.

We have to remember there are a lot of kids here and, although they are clever and witty, they know almost nothing; when they do they will look back and laugh at themselves.

But first they will laugh at us. *shrug*

I knew I'd end up posting this sentiment a few times today...

Even Tom Daschle has the decency to shut up and focus on the only thing that matters now: successfully ending the war.

It is obnoxiously disrespectful to continue with the debate. It's over in case you didn't notice.

And the oil thing is so overdone. People really still say and believe that? Spare me.

Ignoramuses can't even make me mad anymore. They are irrelevant. Their quiant protests are fueled by self righteousness and satisfaction. Whine away. Just do it out of earshot.

The irony is that many have died and many will die to protect the right of that idiot, the one who complains about his lack of freedom ,to fly whatever stupid flag he likes and to spout whatever idiotic comment he cares to provide. There are some who act out in an effort to draw attention to themselves or to their cause, often in pitifully stupid ways. But there are times when their efforts go beyond pittifull to disgracefull and deplorable. But still as stupid and or moronic they may be and as offensive their actions may be . this country gives them the right to express their stupidity . we have the right to choose to ignore it.

It's like having a baby I guess... it's very hard and painful, and totally worth it.

I think its pretty harsh to claim that people who display the American flag are posing. I agree there was something of a bandwagon effect at 911, but that's exactly what I want to have happen. The people who jumped on the bandwagon with the flags in '01 had their hearts in the right place, they just weren't all that original. That's ok. When they saw something that they agreed with they went for it. There is some bravery and sense in choosing to conform when you see something that you know is right.

I'd like the protesters to know that they are a pathetic minority here in America and that the poles show the overwhelming majority of Americans realize that what we're doing in iraq is necessary. So lets show them not by holding our own protests in support of our country, but by quietly putting up flags that remind them they're surrounded by people who think about issues for more than a few minutes.

I like to think of it this way.

We went to war with Iraq 12 years ago for obvious reasons that can't really be argued. We ended that war with an agreement: don't build whatever the hell we don't want you to build (i.e. chemical biological nuclear weapons). They agreed and then ignored the agreement (this was an agreement with the UN). Since Clinton was president at the time, we decided to do nothing because he was "involved" with other "issues". Now we're dealing with it? Why, because we don't want another terrorist attack, this time sponsored by Iraq. And we have every right to dictate what Iraq does because they lost a war to us and have to live up to the ceasefire terms for the rest of time (unless they're willing to go back to war).

911 woke us up and told us that we have to deal with these nations that hate us and are developing methods to kill our citizens.

A lot of people then say.... what about north korea? Why haven't we concentrated more on them? They're farther ahead.

North Korea is not only our problem, they're a problem for everyone in that region. So diplomacy will probably work a whole hell of a lot better. In the Iraqi case, we're basically the ones with the most stake, which is why diplomacy didn't work too well. Some of our (real) allies are helping us out but basically everyone else in the world said "why should we help you? they're not going to kill us!". For north Korea we can go to a whole host of Asian countries that are even more scared of nuclear attacks than we are and say "hey, what the hell are we gonna do about these guys." Like bush has said before, we have to exhaust diplomacy in the North Korea case still.

One more reason why diplomacy might not have worked in the Iraq case is because they took a look at all the protestors and decided that we were bluffing. One could possibly argue the protests around the world actually caused diplomacy to fail.

Anyway, that's my view of the whole thing (not that you asked for it). And that's why I started this thread.

btw: the dixie chicks suck
