A more interesting approach to buying cars.

Hello GTplaneteers!

Wouldn't it just be lovely if PD would allow players to buy different trim packages from the dealerships? I mean if for example, I wanted to buy a Honda Civic '96 model, I had the option of choosing either the 1.5L, 1.6L or the Type R 1.6L.

Secondly, if any of you remember the car selling mechanic in Need for Speed V Porsche Unleashed.. I reckon a mechanic like that would be very fitting in Gran Turismo 6. Buy used cars, fix them up and price them to your own accord.. and the computer gives you an offer for it. It would make a nice side income. Ofcourse in order to balance this out a bit PD could introduce a 10 minute time lag in between every offer.

What do you guys think?

I loved Porsche Unleashed, EA really out did themselves on that one. That was the first racing game I ever played that really impressed me with the realism in driving the cars. It was leaps and bounds ahead of everything on the market. I think Porsche had a big hand in that wanting it to be right if their name was going on it.

I used to buy the 356 cars while in the first era, repair them and save them until the modern era and then sell them for some major profit. Was a cool part of the game but a bit time consuming not sure how well it would fit in a game like GT but could be cool.

I also really loved some of those point to point tracks in that game

Yep absolutely, That cut's out clutter and saves PD writing more code then it needs to!

There is 1,200 cars coming it will get tiresome having to go through multiple menus and the 'same' car over and over just to find the model you wanted! Sure at the start it will be fun when the vastness of the content is being flicked through but it will get tiresome!

GT5 was tedium just opening your Standards garage if you had 500+ cars where it took 20-30 seconds to open!

Touche!

I recently installed it, only to have it crash on my half way through the first race on evolution mode. Factory driver wouldn't let me complete the first mission either. :guilty:

If you have noticed, when you buy a car in GT5 it loses 75% of it's value.. which doesn't change drastically even if you amp it up to it's maximum potential in the game.

I think if they let you manually set a price in the game, and let the computer (or other players) give you an offer (or just buy at the price you set) would make it more realistic. If I add parts to the car, the increment in price shouldn't be tiny.

I never understood why all standard cars weren't accessible in the game. The used car dealership could have held all the cars. The other annoying thing was that we could only see 30 cars at one time. Only if they upped this limit to 100 or so.

I can't imagine how they'd model it, but I'd love to see them have different engine options at purchase. Getting a '70 Dodge with a 340, 383, 440, or a 426 with proper functioning 4-barrel carbs (or the six-pack set-up) and the weight properly adjusted... Bliss.

Do you think the novelty would wear off quick?

There are a couple of tricks that make it work a bit better under XP and Windows 7 but even my best efforts don;t prevent the occasional crash. Most often it will crash on certain spots on the Normandie track. Once you know those spots you can avoid hitting the spot of the track and avoid the crash to desktop most of the time.

The game worked really well under Windows 98, some issues under ME and a few more issues under XP and later.
