I have found GT5 is heavily reliant on having a network. If you have a slow network, GT5 will hang until your network recovers or catches up with the loading of the game. Offline though is pretty seamless.

It's not that.

This is regarding the problems that start yesterday morning. Go look at your news page on the main menu and you will see what everyone is talking about.
It's not the person's Internet it is the servers in general

Finally a little good news. New servers are on there way to PD.

LOL, very good, hope they get fixed.....

Not sure about anyone else, but like everything that PD do, the silence is deafening.

The first that they put up about the issue was on the 6th, its been nearly 3 days and heard nothing. Ill say it again, their PR department need a swift kick up the "you know where" !!

Specifically, when trying to join the online lobby menu, the "Connecting to server..." bar loads half way, and most of the time I then get "An error has occurred in the lobby server. [268]" message. When it does actually let me in, often times it only populates two or three rooms. And when I refresh, it takes much longer, and still only pulls up a small handful of rooms. Additionally, when I do join a room, on many occasions the server starts rejecting the hosts until the room is dead.

This has been happening since the last update consistently.

I've not had hardly any trouble with the online side of GT5 since day one, I had no problems since the 2.08 update either, & after seeing this thread yesterday I went online for hours in open lobby with no issues.

Then, today I've been trying to get into my own lounge (to practice for an organized event scheduled for tonight), & guess what? Yep, I repeatedly get errors 268 & 282, & I cannot get into any lobby.

how much longer do we have to wait for this to be fixed????!!

Well, when it is fixed, your wait will be over. Till then, being frustrated won't speed it up. Be glad that it's being fixed. Better late than never.

:)

I'm pretty sure I've had that cart in a shuffle but mine must of been a standard version as I didn't have any cockpit view and I couldn't see the [obviously premium] donkey.

I tried repeatedly to get online tonight but to no avail.
Many of my freinds managed it but no matter what i tried i could not get on.
I even tried setting my DNS settings as recommended by some people but that didnt work either.
Hopefully yhey will manage to get the problem sorted soon.

I haven't had any problems myself other than once trying to create a room. I was in a room a guy has been running endurance races out of (so I know he's normally ok) that dropped everyone mid enduro one by one until only two others and myself remained. I'm concerned about running anything over 20 minutes now.

GT5 online has been garbage since day one. What makes me laugh is that some time ago, PD announced that they had set up a sepperate office purely to look after the online aspects of the game. It must be a very small office.

Two pee or not two pee.

Hummmm? Maybe it's your Internet. I and others don't have these problems 24/7. It happens occasionally but not as frequently as it sounds for you. Maybe you need to check your ISP (Internet service provider) and see what you are paying for and then go to speedtest.net and see what you are really running. And oh well big whoop. All i have to say is I am not complaining.

My broadband connection is fine and runs at 13mb. Please don't insult my intelligence. The problem is that PD don't have dedicated servers and rely on individual connections to run the game online. Put a few slow connections in the game and it can make it a mess.

Download and upload speed in themselves do not a stable internet connection make.

Wire your connection if you aren't already, open the appropriate ports (search port forwarding in google) or just stick the PS3 in a DMZ (if your router has this capability).

And if you're using any Belkin products. Throw them away immediately and get a decent router. :D

[EDIT - On topic, seemed marginally more stable last night, once I was in I could largely stay in (not the case for everyone in the room) but it took a couple of attempts to connect to the servers and there were obvious delays loading even the GT life screen at start up.]

We were able to stay in one room with multiple hosts for over 3 hours tonight. It was a bit laggy at times though.

Just to let you know i wasn't being rude or trying to insult you. I was just trying to help.

Wow words get mixed up and confused quickly. It gets really old too.

I agree belkin sucks. I personally work for a friend's computer shop and I always turn customers away from those. I actually point them straight to netgear. Netgear has always treated me good. And the routers themselves are cool to look at (LEDs blink with different ports soooo pretty)

But anyway. I am sure they will eventually get everything running 100% a again soon. Didn't have any problems yesterday except one of those unworthy black screens going into watch race.

The day before had many problems and most of my friends did too. I hope it stays like yesterday today though cross your fingers hahaha :)

After my many problems yesterday afternoon of not being to enter any lobbies at all (268/282 errors), last night was absolutely fine!

Agree with this, on the whole GT for me as been very good, and hardly every have issues (not including the recent issues), I only have Sky upto 20mg (normally around 13/14 tho) but its purely unlimited and not throttled at any point.

I know a lot of the new fibre optic isp's do have limits which apply and they do throttle your speeds. It's no good have 100mb if there gonna restrict your speeds at peak times.

I'm very pleased with Sky and GT, anybody who does have excessive issues with GT I have to assume its related to your ISP/router set up not the game!

Oh and I run a wired connection.

Fixed now.
