Very disappointed with only one Seasonal race for the holidays. Once completed doesn't look like I'll be spending much time playing. Don't like this track at all, invisible barriers, what's all that about? Slowly improving my lap times, currently 2.28 in the 2D and that's driving like a mad man..... Expected far better seasonal than this.........

Did you possibly forget to turn off the auto drive settings from when you first buy the cars?
I think they set one of them to 5 automatically until you change it. The 2d and 2J should have gotten you easily to 3rd even if you banged off the walls like pinball, lol.

You mean traction Control? Always turn it down to 1 or off altogether.

used the 2j and can't even break the top 10 how are you guys doing it?
The 2D is a fantastic car for this track. First wide sweeping turn can be done flat out, pit on lap 5 or 6 (preferably end of lap 6 so that you have enough grip to go hard at the end). I will try this race again today because I will not let the AI keep me down. I will triumph.

Spend some time refining your line around the track so you can carry as much speed as possible without the car taking off. Really important for the first three corners, the chicane and the left hander before the last corner. I'd also suggest running the brakes around 8/10 front to rear like I did as it helps the car turn in the slower corners. To hit the PP limit I'd suggest limiting the power only rather than adding weight as the 2J doesn't carry the extra weight well.

To get away with two pitstops, your laptimes has to be consistantly below 2:23.

Anyone tried the Panoz?

If you want to really humiliate the competition, use the Chaparral 2D. So fast. So easy on tires and gas because it's very light. You don't need much downforce on this course. I used RH on the fronts and RM on the rears for even wear. Plenty of rubber left when taking the one pit stop at the end of the 5th lap. I added a few more units of gas and finished about 20 seconds ahead of the next place Viper. I didn't even break a sweat because the 2D was that good. It makes all the other cars (excepting the 2J) look absolutely feeble. The 2D makes it a fun race. I tried a couple of Racing Fords GTs and a couple of racing Vettes and they ate tires too quickly as far as I was concerned. I'm going to try some Vipers when I get the chance. I doubt anything will compare to the 2D. It doesn't have any weak spots in this race that I can tell.
Thought I was going to struggle with this one, and then tried the 2D - as you say, the perfect car for this race. Hardly uses the tyres at all, easy win and I lapped one third of the field too!

Taking the lead on lap 8, I won by ~4 seconds over the #91 Viper driving the Corvette Z06 LM Race Car '06.

I started on RM tires, pitted end of lap 3 for a short fill of 44 liters and new RMs. Another pit for RH tires fuel, end of lap six.

Total time was 25:37.727, with a best lap of ~2:21.4

Car I wanted to use (Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car), that the AI is allowed to, apparently isn't allowed when I want to drive it. Ended up going with the 2J instead with the power turned down to get it to 620PP and the camber turned down from the stock settings. Ran on RM/RM/RH and could run 2:15's without really trying, won with an overall time of 24:24. Plenty left in it as well with a decent setup, not sure I'll bother trying again as while the track is quite a nice layout, the bumps and the silly chicane really ruin it. All of the cambers and elevation changes feel really rough too, which upsets a lot of different cars. The events last year for the holiday season were a lot more fun for me, not sure if that reflects on PD paying less attention to the game or maybe it's not my cup of tea.
You need to buy the white one from the Ford dealership, not the Gran Turismo garage. I think only the AI can use the black carbon fibre GT one.

Might provide more next Wednesday? Last year they provided those sector time trials at Grand Valley and Nurburgring(?).

Get a f'in life man!!

Lol. Kidding just pictured you stareing at a dark screen for hours waiting to see the light. :)

I tried it briefly, but gave up quickly when I saw it needed two pit stops. It may now be worth another try, since I know the race can be won on 2 pit stops without using the (now overkill) Chaparrals.

The Cadillac Cien is worth a try, because it has AWESOME speed!!

I will try those again, but first I want to try something else - the Ford Mk IV Race Car '67. I was replaying my win with the Corvette when I noticed this Ford had unusually good tire wear and fuel mileage compared to the others, and it frequently ends up 2nd or 3rd place after starting well down in the field.

I can't do this race to save my life. I've tried 4 cars.

1. Ford GT40 MkIV (best i could get was 11th)
2. Shelby Daytona Coupe (was in 8th but ended up 12th after being taken out by the Art Morrison Corvette)

3. Chaparral 2D (7th is the best i can get 1m:06 seconds behind)
4. Chaparral 2J (again 7th 45 seconds behind leader)

I got to say the AI is awful, the track is dreadful and what's with the penalty? seriously? It's not bad enough the lead AI is like half a lap ahead, they hat to throw in this Joker? Come on PD, surely hitting the barrier is bad enough but 5 second for clipping it?

I'm done with this one.

The 2J will easily win this one. I used Medium slicks with the tune from the current willow seasonal. Had to lengrhen the transmission was the only change. Not an ideal tune but good enough. Pitted starting lap 6 with 2 left in the front on wear.

By the way, what the hell is with that stupid jump turn?
No course designer in their right mind would put that in.

I especially like holding it on the edge in a nice decreasing radius right hander setting it up to jump a ditch... Lol

Couple of things.... why is there no online rankings on this seasonal and hell to the moaning.... GT6 is a game that needs practice to get to the goals, I'm really not very good but perseverance pays off and that feels good.... rant over. Love all your comments and help... keep it up

Yeh, it's because the manufacturer is listed as GT and not Ford. I was more annoyed that the AI had two cars in the race with it when it clearly shouldn't be in there.

One of the Ford LM Spec IIs starts on RMs and pits twice, the one on RHs pits once. The twin Vipers use the same ploy. It's clearly better to pit once than twice.

A lot of practice is required to hold the throttle open through the high speed chicanes and fast corners. Clever tuning is needed to get the most out of your car in terms of top speed, fuel mileage and tire wear. Tapping the wall kills your lap time. This is truly an event for experts.

Just try the 2D, you'll like it. It turns on a dime and accelerates like crazy. No ballast used. The lowest amount of horsepower will easily beat the competition.

This is a lively car, more fun to drive than the 2J IMO, but significantly slower with my style of driving.

I succeeded with a Cobra Daytona Coupe '64. With an oil change and all add-ons, I could only get it to 604PP. I couldn't make it through 5 laps with RH tires so I went 3 laps RM, 4 laps RH, and 3 laps RM. I'm not going to break 24 minutes with this car although my fastest lap was 2:19.xxx.

I won my second try with the 2J, once I figured out a pit strategy that worked for me. I prefer to lean on the car pretty hard, no fun holding back. I used a two stop strategy, lap 4 and 7, RH and an aggressive setup that allows the car to make the three sweeper turns at full throttle. Braking at the exact right time is key for the tighter turns right after each though.
Best lap was a 2.17:0xx. Final was a high 24:xx. Won by 40 seconds over the Viper.

I wish the invisible make believe simulator barriers were about 3 feet further off the track though. I'm sure the fast guys can run 2.15-2.16's.

Time to try a different car.

The other seasonal is ridiculous, IMO. I could do it, if I wanted to dedicate an entire weekend to learning how to drive a ridiculously unrealistic car...in a simulator.

I ended up accidentally buying it for the event, but with my tune I was losing seconds every lap and ended up in a measly 10th.

Used 2J and got obliterated before pit entry by a the old corvette on second to last lap meaning I came 2nd :nervous::banghead:

Another set of holiday seasonals starts on December 24.

I've now taken numerous easy and fun wins with the 2J, 2D, and Corvette Z06 LM Race Car '06. But with the latter, the margin of victory is only 1 to 5 seconds, so its much more challenging and hence fun when you get it down.

I'd be happy to post my full setups and/or pit strategy for any of these. If anyone is interested, please ask.

If you don't mind I'd like to see how you run the 2D, I haven't come closer than 5th with it and don't find it to be as fast as some of the others on this forum.

I like this track especially with pit stops and tire wear. I'd like to do a three lap race with Euro fast hatches (Lutecia / Megane) or the Historic Euros from that last Matterhorn seasonal.

Hopefully PD will use this track a little more and Circuito de Hell (from the sister seasonal) a little less!

For the 2D, Priano's setup works quite well. I made a small change or two:

85/95
13.35/12.00
7/7
7/7
2/3
0/0
-8/+10
Brakes 1/0
Autoset 193 mph
9-14-38
400/700
27 kg @ 0
PL 61.6%
Hi RPM turbo
TC 0 or 1
RH front tires/RM rear tires

Strategy: Pit once end of lap 5, same RH/RM tires

You should lap comfortably in the 22's with a low in the 21's.
You will likely take the lead sometime on lap 5, but surrender it at your stop, retaking it no later than lap 8. You will lead by over 30 seconds at the end, which will be at about 25 minutes.

Make sure your chassis has had a recent refresh.
