Went for a more novel approach on this one. Drive everything, have fun, and don't complain about no competition if i bring a Lambo to a Vespa race.

I see your point. It's not so much complaining as it's more looking to challenge myself.

That's just how i roll.

*I chose to run a final gear that basically makes this a 5 speed car. I just felt like doing it that way. Adjust the final gear to get the shift points that you want.

I like this little car. I call it "The Angry Flea". It'll do 1:02.xxx-1:03.xxx in traffic and then it'll run in the high 1:01.xxx when you take the lead. I've been passing the NSX going into turn 1 on lap 4 and winning by 2-3 seconds. It understeers into the corners if you go in too fast but is very planted coming out. The suspension is soft enough that you can clip the kerbs as well.

Enjoy.

After much talk about these events being too easy, I decided to find out if this is true. I drafted my son, my daugther and her boyfriend to this highly scientifical experiment. They are all pretty close to twenty years of age.

I bought a Subaru BRZ. Weight red. 3, weight distr. 50/50, LSD, susp. racing hard and tuned to 520PP. This made for a comfortable win for me.

None of the test persons are familiar with the track.

First person out was my daugthers boyfriend. He does not play GT6. He does play the F1 game, although with a hand controller, and is a decent kart driver in the real world.
He started out with a couple of 1.08 laps, making progress, but clearly not at home in London. The next three laps went better, and he secured victory with a last lap of 1.03.
An easy win on his first try.

My son was the next contestant. He has played some GT, but it is not his game of choice.
His first try ended in a second place, after missing a few braking points.
His second try went far better. Having been through the track five times, he started off with 1.03 laps, and landed the win with a 1.00.092. Almost the desired sub 1min lap...
He did not have to work very hard for the credits.

Last of the test group was my daugther. She has hardly played any car games at all.
A few turns into the first lap I saw that she would need a map reader in order to get through this. I duly took the passenger seat, and read the notes. She managed an 11th place, after a fair amount of time spent in the "rough".

So... the race is rather tough if you never play car games at all, but not very much of a challenge if you have completed a lap or two in your life.

This very very very sciencey test was performed with a G27.

Gold with a stock 403PP Renault Clio RS '11 on CS tires with a margin of 1.209. The super car (Ferrari California stock) was bringing a thermonuclear weapon to a knife fight. I can't imagine how lame the race would be with modded cars....

Ok, race hards and some mods. No wonder! Can't imagine that being the least bit difficult for anyone who has played some racing games. Just out of curiosity try the same test with a stock BRZ on Comfort Hards and no driving aids. All of them off. Use cockpit cam with HUD off.

Not trying to single you out but I wonder if some of the folks who complain or post about the lack of challenge in these events are using the highest grade tires allowed and tuned cars. Even CS tires at these low pp levels is overkill.

Obviously anyone can make them as tough as they want. I bet you could make this race impossible to win if you tried hard enough. Point is, its offered as a challenge at a given pp, which in this instance, it is clearly not.

Yes one can be silly and run a clearly disadvantaged vehicle. My point is that the limits are limits not parameters.

Now my test is not to be taken super seriously:) And I agree with you, that most people driving car games would gold easily with the car I presented them with. My point is more along the lines with what croozer_63 says. I actually believe that my daughter would nail the first place, with two more tries. And she is in no way into racing sim games.
For this race I think PD could safely have reduced the pp limit to 500 (maybe even 450), without ruining the fun for the beginners.
:-)
My post was of course meant as a slightly humoristic take on the are-the-races-too-easy-debate

I am inclined to agree with you. Even as a "Stocker" I was surprised by the overly generous nature of the max PP...

Geezers like cars that have aged well and are well aged. Some of our favorites for this seasonal are E-Type Coupe '61 @ 441PP, Europa S.2 '68 @ 455PP, Mini Marcos '67 @ 500PP, El Camino '67 @ 440PP and our ever popular trio of the Schwimmwagen '42 @ 415PP, Kubelwagen '47 @450PP and Sambabus '62 @ 415PP. I'm still trying with the 2CV '54.
I'm sure the faster Geezers can lower these PP's but I have a problem because this race is run at a Geezers nap time.

I'm disappointed how short the track is, need to see more of my home town London.

Yes, we need more of our lovely London, the two NFS Shift tracks [River/Royal Mile] spring to mind and could be so much better in GT6.

A nice lap around IOD/Canary Wharf would be great too, my part of town. :D

IOD.jpg IOD-sat.jpg

The two roundabouts are quite large and could well be fun, the one at Westferry on the left is dual leveled, the underground level is definitely more exciting than the upper level.
If and when we get the course maker I will use GPS to make it myself.

I'm actually near Stratford station! In fact I passed my real driving test in Wanstead on wednesday :D
Passed later than most people.

Canary Wharf would work great and also around the Olympic Park area. Would have great views, landmarks and roundabouts. Imagine the Olympic stadium, Canary Wharf, the Thames etc in the background. The GPS thing may have to wait until GT7!

Battersea is also another area around the power station and surrounding area, this was only used a bit in DIRT.

I could imagine having the A406 and the M25 would be a giggle for longer drives, but ferry crossings or toll booths in the east might be a bit of a nuisance.

this car is so much overkill... i'm looking forward to modifying this base tune for the ring and also using it for whatever other 550p seasonal events PD throws our way. it's well balanced with a touch of understeer into corners so you must hit your brake points accurately but it plants well out of the corners and grips very well despite the high hp and SH tires.

Enjoy.
