A-spec Endurance: in for the long haul, or get it over with?

Just curious what the consensus was amongst the GTP miscreants. ;)

For the non-timed Endurance events, do you prefer taking a car that's comparable with the rest of the field, or do you just want to get the laps out of the way as quick as possible (ie, the X1, or something otherwise overpowered)?

I just try to get it out of the way but I don't use a X1. (I don't like using X1's) I usually use a FGT or maybe a Bentley Speed 8.

I want to finish them as fast as I can... I only did the first 4 Endurance races in A-Spec, 3 with the FGT (didn't have an X1 at the time) and another one with a 300hp MX-5 :-)

Here's what I did:

Grand Valley: Comparable NSX R < Liked the Endurance

Tsukuba Roadsters: Overtuned MX-5 < If I could avoid this event, I would

Laguna Seca: Same NSX R as before < Liked it a bit

Indy: F1 the first time, X1 for the exp grind < Meh

Suzuka: Arta NSX once, X1 for the exp grind < Liked it. Once.

Nurb 4h: Comparable tuned Ferrari 458 < The best endurance

Tsukuba 9h: Comparable Elise 111r RM < Boring after 100 laps, good event if it wasn't for the lenght

Le Mans 24h: X1 without regrets lol < I hate La Sarte

Nurb 24h: Comparable Peugeot 908 < I wanted to have fun. Too long. Mixed feelings. Great sense of acomplishment at the end.

Give me a save option and I will do it, otherwise they will sit there. Same goes for the F1GT races, too long.

You are SO right ! I didn't like to leave my PS3 on for about 2 days in order to complete each of the 4 endurance races I did... I'm also done with the rest of these (+the FGT Championship) until a save option is available... Maybe on Friday?

Grand Valley 300 - Subaru Impreza 22b. Stock with similar tires as competition.
Tuskuba 4h - Stock Miata (NA). Same tires as competition.
Laguna Seca 200 - Tuned Buick GNX. Won by a minute.
Indy 500 - Nascar.
Suzuka - Takata NSX- Racing Softs. Destroyed the competition. Just saw this one as Suzuka practice.
Nürb 4h - Lexus ISF RM - Stock and Racing Hards - I loved this race.

I'm going to use a Fully tuned Miata (NC) in the 9h Tsukuba Endurance, a 908 in Le Mans and probably the Zonda R or Ford GT Test car for the Nürb 24h.

I just go with my fav. cars. I don't like overpowering the crowd, i usually tune to that i know i cannot lose but still keeping some sort of challenge there.

Did you enjoy using the Miata in the 4h event?
I hated the Miata, couldn't stand to use it in the 9h event.

It didn't like the 4h race, and probably won't like the 9h aswell. But I might aswell take a car that is weaker than the competition, or else my brain will go numb after an hour or two.

Grand Valley: FGT
Roadsters: Full upgraded mx-5
Seca: RM ZR1
Indy: FGT/X1
Suzuka: FGT/X1
Ring 4h: Haven`t done it would use a skyline or FGT/X1 depending on my mood
Tsukuba 9h: Haven`t done it would probably use a 350z/370z or Supra rz
Le Mans 24h:Haven`t done it would use FGT/X1 depending on my mood :P
Ring 24h: Haven`t done it would use a JGTC car most likely mabye a NSX

Not "comparable" cars but cars I would enjoy except the ones with FGT/X1 tracks are ethier boring or just too damned long, haha.

I generally use comparable, but fun cars for all of them...though I also want to ensure that I'm going to win. Regardless, I hate using ridiculous cars just for the fact that I don't want it to feel like I'm doing hours worth of time trials.

Grand Valley: Stock NSX-R and stock Integra Type R. It was too easy in the NSX, but I won by about a minute in the Integra. Made pitting way more interesting!
Tsukuba 4h: Got 100 laps in and realized I hate Miatas and I hate Tsukuba. I was using a fully tuned Miata and practicing power slides, but that track drains my soul.
Laguna Seca: Stock Shelby Series One. Easy win. I want to do it again with a slower car though. I like the American races and I like Laguna Seca.
Indy: Bentley Speed 8. This race was the most boring thing I've done in GT5. I won't even do it again if they add rocket launchers to the cars.
Suzuka: 172 laps is not going to happen until they add a save.
Ring 4h: CWest Silvia. I ended up winning by several minutes, but this track is just too much fun. I'll probably do this again with less power. The CWest has a badass exhaust note, btw.
Tsukuba 9h: You would have to pay me thousands of dollars in real currency to get me to attempt this. Why two Tsukuba endurances????
Le Mans: Not until I can save.
24 Nurb: Not level 40 yet. I don't intend to attempt it until you can save though.

I agree with everything you said. I have not yet attempted the 4 hr Mazda enduro and probably won't ever try unless we can save during the races. I have completed the Grand Valley, the Leguna Seca, and the 500 races multiple times but they don't take that long to complete. The 1000km race took my Bobs 4.5 hours to complete in a X2010. I could probably do it around 4 hrs maybe a little more but again, not until they implement a save system for enduros. 👎

Just Blitz it with the X2010 ;)

I really can't see me being able to do this because I am so bad with the X2010 :ill:. I can't go around a corner in it without crashing then spinning out. Before I started a race on Cape Ring and I counted how many crashes I done and I hadn't even finished the first lap and i had crashed about 13 times. :grumpy:

wow, cant see the fun in using the X1....running cars only 1-2 sec faster per lap ends up with you finishing a lap or several ahead...not much of a race after the first couple laps...if it weren't for pit stops switching things up if you're on a different fuel/tire strategy than the AI's, I'd be TOO bored to do the enduro's

something comparable every time. I cant imagine anything more boring that running an overpowered car in an endurance race. Where the hell is the fun in hitting first place before the first corner and then just going through the motions for however many hours? (my sig says it all really)

I heard for the four hr mazda race that if u get a comfortable lead, wait for the first car to pit and then block him from leaving the rest will follow. Then you just sit for four hrs and win. Anyone know if it works.

I just finished the 4 hr Ring in a FT565 Audi TT. I won by just under three minutes. It was a fun race and I'd do it again.

I wrote this on another thread.

Watto
.............I'm currently getting Bob to do the final 24hr Nurburgring. The track looks amazing at night. I'm now A-Spec 38.9 so I hope to do the Ring myself in the next two weeks.

I'll probably do the same as when I did Le Sarthe .ie. 10/10/4 hours but my eyes were hanging out of my head after that. I used the Stealth Audi R10 TDI then and had over 10 laps up.

Looking at the AI times while Bob is doing the Ring has got me thinking.

The AI cars involved after 15:30 hours are:

102 laps Audi R10 TDI Race Car 2006
101 laps BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car 1997
100 laps Peugeot 905 Race Car 1992
99 laps Pagani Zonda LM Race Car 2001
97 laps Ford GT LM Race Car 2002
97 laps Citroën GT by Citroën Race Car
97 laps Audi R8 LMS Race Car (Team PlayStation) 2009
97 laps Audi R8 LMS Race Car 2009
93 laps Chevrolet Corvette C5R (C5) 2000
89 laps Lister Storm V12 Race Car 1999
89 laps Blitz DUNLOP ER34 SKYLINE (D1GP) 2007

The best laps are R10, BMW, 905, Zonda around 8:40 but that was the opening lap when their tyres are optimal without the extra time for a pit stop.

The best times I've seen them do during the race is R10 and 905 a bit under 9 minutes. They would be neck&neck but the peugeot always goes one lap too long so suffers for tyres.

I'm going to test some touring cars (instead of LeMans) to see if I can manage about 8:50/9:00 for 5 laps to get a close race and make it more exciting.

I used to get 6:45 to 6:55 regularly on the Norschliefe in the 2000 Falcon XR8 with a pad in GT4 so it'll be touch and go if the extra bit of GP track costs me two minutes. I can't wait to find out.

I'm still A-Spec 39.3 so it'll be a week or so before I can try this.

I only want to do the enduros once or twice, so I've been rubber-band grinding since A-Spec 36.5. I suppose I could've used the X2010 on Le Sarthe. I won't entertain that though on Nurb, I think that'd be the least enjoyable task I could think of besides grinding.

I mean yh there are some that I use the x2010 for such as Indy, but usually I would try to pick a similar car, I was lookin forward to doing the grand valley enduro with my M3GTR race car like GT4 but no, :(

I refuse to do the Tubiska? (Is that how you spell it? I'm on the app) I hate that track, it's so dull.

To add to my earlier post. I just took the Ford 2000 Falcon XR8 out for two time trial laps on arcade. I've had nearly a dozen beers and I still logged 8:20 and 8:15 around the Nurburgring24Hour (I bet I can get close to 8 mins flat sober).

This car is 1350kg, 630hp, top speed of 300km/h (no mods).

So when I watched Bob do some of the final endurance, the best cars in that group:

Audi R10 TDI Race Car 2006
BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car 1997
Peugeot 905 Race Car 1992

their best laps appeared to be a little under 9 minutes. Their BEST LAP (8:40) was the first one when their tyres are optimal without the extra time for a pit stop.

If you add fatigue/tyre wear/pitstops/rain into my lap times I think I'll end up with a close race that I'll likely win in a touring car vs their leMans cars. That should make the 24 hours a bit more exciting. I can't wait to try it in a week or so.

8:40? Yesterday I finished the 24h of Nurburgring and my main rival was a Bentley 8 and it lapped in the 8:05 minutes mark in its laps without pit time. But then when it started raining a few hours before the time ran out, hard rain made it lap veeeery slow, the 787B stole the second place as the Bentley I think was lapping like in the 13 minutes range.

The McLaren seemed best on it's tyres/fuel followed by the R10 but it was quicker.

The Peugoet was quickest but the idiot would go one lap too long every time.

I might run another B-Spec before I do my A-Spec with another set of opponents.
