The first time I won this race was with the F430. I hope to now whittle my way down the power ladder and use some of the smaller horses in the barn. I know the track fairly well and it really wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. I do race the 600pp Aspec race quite a bit though so that helps.

Btw, does anyone else get the feeling that Ascari was built atop multiple fault lines!..:odd:

just got my PB lap for the event, a 2.04.50 in the gto 88. I think that its the fastest of them all on this track, although the 599 is very, very close. I have given up on the Enzo, whilst it is very quick, and is an assured win, something bazaar seems to happen to its handling after you pass the Enzo rabbit. For some unknown reason, the car seems to just "slip" off the track for no real reason when you are too far in front. Really annoying as I am trying for a sub 2 min lap, and have been on course for it, but just can't keep the thing on the track. Weird.

I didn't have that problem when I pass the Enzo.

Attempt #2 with the F430, this time with SS tires, TC1, ABS1, and the suggested line. 2nd. Gah. No dramatic accidents this time, but it still wasn't very good driving on my part. I got stuck behind the 5th-7th place cars (F430, F40, 288 GTO). Just couldn't seem to execute a clean pass to save my life. Maybe I shouldn't try to get past more than one at a time, eh?

After the Ring frustration of 15 2nd place finishes on a track I like, I'm not even going to try this one. Ascari is the one track I totally despise. I already have 50 mil credits. i have all the cars I ever wanted thanks to glitch when the game first came out. Even went and bought a bunch of cars for paint chips and still nothing else I want.

I wish all the regulars good luck. @WhoosierGirl, I know you'll win this with the fastest time and the most bizzare cars. You to Mitch (GTP_Cargo_Ratt)👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Enzo= easy win...beat the rabbit in the corners and it wont have time to catch you in the last straight. 458 is an easy win also.

I really don't believe it, I really don't believe it. I won at first attempt with the 458 and @shaunm80 tune.👍👍👍 First 2 laps I was off the track big time. By the 4th lap I had caught the Scuderia but got a 5 sec. penalty for bumping him even though I had the line going into one of those zigzag turns. Caught and passed just after the start of the 5th lap and pulled away. I won by 2 sec. I still had 50 mil credits and didn't even want the paint chip. So I have to give my Lord credit first because I kept a cool head and @shaunm80 for the great tune. Over, done. Quit.

Thank you DocHollid4y for the encouragement.👍👍

It was an easy win on a track I hate but it doesn't help much after the Ring.

Done it with all the Ferrari's on SS and stock setups apart from the 246 Dino. Maxed that out with all the parts but it made it too easy a win.

The California is a beautifully poised car and the 365GTB was so stable that it was boring. The F40 had me grinning all the way round, but I'm glad I don't have to pay for the tires. I was steering looking through the side window more than the windscreen. Not much point using the Enzo in this one though as it's simply too quick.

Too miserly to pay for the 250GTO so no idea how good it is on Ascari.

I think I've seen the Enzo driver before too. I'm sure it was in quick matches teaching everyone how to punt people off track. 3 times that git pushed me off track at the 2nd chicane after they forgot where the brake pedal was and rammed me so far into the infield, I thought I was spectating.

Overall, they messed this seasonal up. There's no way it can be classed as an expert level event.

I didn't have that problem when I pass the Enzo.

Maybe so, as it doesn't seem to happen until I am around 20 sec in front, then using same line and brakes, just straight off the track on certain corners. Then, almost magically, the rabbit is back level with you. Has happened enough for me to think its possibly the ultimate in rubber banding.

It's possible to snap the rubber band though. If you keep pushing hard, the AI often make mistakes. Especially the 458 and Enzo. Funny seeing them way off track on the course map but I prefer them less than a second behind to keep me concentrating.

Oh yeah. I've noticed that about the AI. It seems to me they either drive in a steady predictable way or they are really wild and irrational. The last time i saw them really wild was an expert race car ra

It's sluggish, leans way over, peels the inside rear tire easily, is a four speed, tops out around 128 mph and takes twice as long to stop than the other Ferraris. But there is pleasure to be had as you toot the 7.5 million dollar horn as you pass by all the other Ferraris.

Used the gift 288GTO without any alteration and won by over 22 seconds. Even though my car was 433pp I got lucky that the 458 had got passed the Enzo, the Enzo kept smashing into the 458 and spinning, I watched with amuzement through laps 3 and 4 took the lead at the start of lap 5 and cruised home with the Enzo in third.

For 7.5 million, I want the horn to play the full Italian national anthem. If it only toots, it's a deal breaker.:P

Going to see if I can get it to do so again, but got slammed by an upside down Enzo and then got a ramming penalty. The thing literaly flew through a chicane and flipped...I don't get it. Still won though, so not a total loss I guess.

Well I find this one very very funny...This time it is not a traditional "rabbit chase". - It`s a "there`s a lunatic in an Enzo waiting for You, and he wants to play". - Yeah he really waits, and I welcome it this time...It was a lot of fun in the Dino. Did the race 5-8 times in Dino. The first 2-3 laps You will be occupied with overtaking the first 10 AIs, so smoothly as possible. Mid lap 3 You will arrive at mr Enzo`s territorie, and one gotta DEAL with him...There`s no escape in the Dino, unless mr Enzo crashes, what he sometimes does. But a lot of "dealing"...Fun fun fun...In one of my Dino races, I did ALL overtakes contact free, also the Enzo overtake mid lap 3...Then he started to chase me, in a gentleman like way, stressing me, but no contacting me...UNTIL late lap 5... He was like "OK mr light-driver, I tried to be nice, but now it`s torpedo time" And he made an ugly DENT in my virgin looking Dino by rear ending me brutally... I stayd on my wheels, and won...This race was so good that I actually saved the replay, which I normally never do...

Also tried the beasty F40, first I couldn`t drive the thing at all, but by softening the rear springs a tonne (like the RUFs) I learned to drive it. Oh and I found that downshifting the gears the right way was CRUCIAL...I mean; in a darling like FR race car like some Mercedes Touring Car, or something, You can do Your downshifting, Your braking and Your turning in, in one motion like bi-bi-bi-biuuw, it`s funny, and the car loves it...But DON`T do that in the Ferrari F40, it locks the entire rear end, and spins around...One has to down shift like in an RR; calmly, one gear at a time, with an extended coffee break between the downshifts, and voila...Good to know and explore...I will certainly do some more races in the F40...Starting to like this beast...👍

You guys are all making me want to try out the 84 GTO. I've driven almost all the Ferrari's and generally love them, especially the Italia and Dino, but never tried the GTO. I won't be able to try this event until tonight, but maybe I'll start out with the GTO on this one based upon all your great reviews. That's one of the things I love about this game.. always a new car to discover!

So I tried out the GTO 84. At stock settings it was doable but quite a bit "wobbly".

After I applied @praiano63 's tune it was fantastic! Such a blast to drive... and pretty fast too. I was able to turn 2:08.xxx laps with it.

After this I went back to my (usual favorite) 458 Italia just to compare. It has just a tad more grip (but also a little more understeer). Not sure if that's the car or the tune, but I was able to drive a bit more aggressively and so turned in marginally better laps at 2:07.xxx.

Haven't tried the Scuderia yet, and I recall liking that Ferrari as well so maybe that's next...

(I will also echo others' comments that the AI in this race and the indiscriminant ramming penalties are insane! They always seem to wait for you at a corner then slow down to block you and leave you no choice. Ironically it seems I can tap them a little from behind with no penalty, but if I try to go around and barely graze their side I get a penalty! :banghead:)

Truth!!

Stock Dino, but look at the gap to third. 15 seconds! Had a 2:20.2 lap time. Very fun car. 420 pp

Don'y know if anyone has experienced this, in my last race I went into a chicane side by side with the Enzo, it then actually went through my car which then gave me a 5 second collision penalty, very weird.

I just took out my 365 GTB4 '71 for the first time in this event. I decided to leave it 90% stock. I did add a customizable suspension and I threw in a triple plate clutch for quicker shifting. I didn't set any records with my lap times. 2:14.xxx was my fastest lap (5th), but I wasn't sure how much I could push this thing on this track yet. She definitely could have given me more if I had asked.

The Enzo drove like an absolute maniac in this attempt. I wish I had a capture device so I could upload highlights of the Enzo (or more appropriately, lowlights). He totally cut that opening chicane. On lap 5 he looked like he was trying out for the Dukes of Hazzard (Ferrari Edition) in my rear view mirror. He also went off track in a few spots. I was really expecting him to rear end me on the backside chicane on lap 4 but he didn't. That left me shocked as he has rear-ended me in previous events.

I did miss having racing brakes - not gonna lie... But having the customizable suspension made this car handle like a dream. I am absolutely convinced that, at least for a guy with my skill level, I actually prefer driving the Ferrari's that don't have the most amount of HP/Torque for this event. Sure, my lap times are a little slower, but the cars are a thousand times easier to drive and they're smooth as butter.

Oops...I totally lied. I also put SS tires on this car. I completely forgot about that until I just went back into Car Settings. Still, I did keep the engine at it's stock values and drove it at 496PP/1200kg.

Yes tried it too, not really weird though. It`s because there was contact between the 2 cars, no matter how minimal it was, You were on the outside, and got penalized. It is allways the inside car who has the right. Other places on track it might not ne notised by the game, but in this chicane there are very strict rules....

There wasn't actually any contact or sound the Enzo just appeared coming right out the front of my car.
