That's interesting. I had wondered if they had planned Fuji as a sort of tri-oval, a bit like Daytona, just based on the predicted shape of the first banked turn and how the road course ended up. Either way, they ran out of money fast and the one banked corner that was built, was dangerous; unlike almost all other banked circuits, at Fuji you went over a blind crest and dropped into it.

"Hey Don?"
"What's up Charlie?"
"Japan is that famously quite flat country isn't it? Like, Mount Fuji is some kinda Ironic name, right"
"Probably"
"Okay Imma start work on the track layout..... aaaaannnnddd.. I'm done"

Still a better 3rd sector than the real thing.
This is a classic example of "Tell me you've never watched a race at modern Fuji Speedway without telling me you've never watched one". That final sector is elite for racing, one of the best zones in the world for nailbiting back-and-forths that set up classic battles to the finish line.

Fair enough. Watching is one thing, but I feel like it has absolutely no flow when racing on it. Off camber turns that tighten up on exit and a truly awful chicane.

Is it as enjoyable to watch as sector 3 at COTA? I haven't driven on that circuit in any games, so I can't make any claims on how fun it is compared to Fuji.
