There are entertaining sifi book by Dan Simmons - "Flashback". Its in dystopian future with Israel/Iran nuke eachother, Japan is segunate ruling half of the world, Murica is degradated by lefties to Japan marionette, Russia is ruled by 120y.o Putin(literally) selling russians as mercs into hotzones. Was over the top and funny in 2013. Not so funny now.

Roger Severino, the Heritage vice president of domestic policy, told a Students for Life conference that Project 2025 was "working on those sorts of executive orders and regulations" to roll back Biden abortion policies and "institutionalize the post-Dobbs environment."

Severino writes in the project's manifesto that the Food and Drug Administration is "ethically and legally obliged to revisit and withdraw its initial approval" of the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol. He also recommends that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention "update its public messaging about the unsurpassed effectiveness of modern fertility awareness-based methods" of contraception. Severino says that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services should require that "every state report exactly how many abortions take place within its borders, at what gestational age of the child, for what reason, the mother's state of residence, and by what method."

Donald Trump wants to implement a 16-week national abortion ban, The New York Times reported on Friday.

The former president has largely avoided taking on reproductive rights during the Republican primary, although he has at times made a point to take credit for the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The decision has been blamed for the GOP’s lackluster showing in the 2022 midterm elections, and Rolling Stone reported last year that Trump has privately griped that the party is “getting killed on abortion.”

According to the Times, the hypothetical nation ban Trump favors should have three exceptions: rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother.

That position would put Trump roughly in-step with Susan B. Anthony List, the powerful anti-abortion advocacy group, which has advocated for a 15-week national ban. Trump reportedly wants the ban to be a week longer, because it’s a nice, round number. “Know what I like about 16?” Trump told a person who spoke with the Times. “It’s even. It’s four months.”

Turns out it shouldn't be state's rights for Republicans if Trump is elected. The Dems should run this story hard knowing the population's stance on allowing abortion is a huge momentum killer for Republicans.

That's insane on so many levels. The only semi-sensible thing that I can imagine is that they want to shut down IVF facilities, but why? IVF is basically the opposite of abortion clinics, people go there who want to have a baby so much that they'll use medical science to make sure it happens. I don't think I've ever heard much opposition to IVF clinics.

Realistically this is just more insane Christian fundamentalist ****. Give it another decade and rape will be legal as long as they get married afterwards.

It wasn't intentional, they pushed to classify embryos as humans so they could charge those that have had abortions with more serious crimes. As a result they could now charge both the female as well as the clinic if the embryo failed to result in a pregnancy, which seems to be common.

I don't know if they would actually pursue any charges if that did happen, but clinics obviously aren't going to take the risk since they are dealing with nutjobs (the government, not the patients).

A knock-on effect being perhaps that Alabama won't be able to deport pregnant women who conceived in the US because they will be carrying a US citizen.....

It's interesting to see the mental gymnastics playing out in real time when the...lets just call them dumbasses....realize that classifying embryos as humans makes it less likely for women to have babies, unlike abortion. Suddenly the actual goal is in conflict with the stated goal.
